My hubby has watched a few of your videos with me. He laughs at me now when he gives me a new skein of yarn. I've picked up squishing, feeling and smelling the skein. When he goes grocery shopping every 2 wks he buys me a skein. It helps to restock my depleted stash and gives us a kick. Never in a million yrs would we have thought he'd be doing that for me. He's so great. Always supporting what I do even though he doesn't have an interest in it. I will keep him!!!
Thank you for showcasing an Australian yarn ❤ I love how thorough you were. Being an Aussie, I love BWM! I always make sweaters for myself out of the luxury line ❤ Correct on the yarn weights Their cotton range is definitely on the thinner side
It's nice isn't it when you see something from "home"! 🤗 I live in SA not as close as you in Victoria but nice to see something from Australia all the same! 😊
I'm a born and bred Bendigonian, it's so good to see yarn from my hometown being showcased! I think I might just have to pop in to BWM this week and pick up some Whisper, I need something to get my crojo back--and this just might be it!
I always feel blessed to have Bendigo Woolen Mills just 2ish hours from my home. They are my 'go to' for natural fibres. I love the fact their balls are twice the 'usual' amount. Useless trivia - during Covid lock-downs BWM made our news for producing and shipping over 500kg per day.
im looking at the woodlands 8 ply. it has bamboo, mohair and wool in it. Im thinking of ordering it instead of buying mohair separately. Have you felt this yarn? is it scratchy or soft? sorry to bother you, were hoping you would know.
@@Bethabara9 I’ve not yet tried that yarn, sorry. All I can say for sure is that I have never been let down by any yarn from BWM. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.
Hi from Australia, l used to live in Bendigo, and my husband worked on the machinery when they first set up the mill. I use a lot of their yarn, and my granddaughters have no trouble wearing this yarn. Love it.
They have great yarn and great patterns to buy. Love them. I'm Australian. Our sheep fleeces are 21 microns merino cross ewes. The wool depot tests the microns for us when they buy it from us. The 2 busiest times of year are shearing season and lambing season. Its lambing season now. The brown we would call chestnut over here.
Cool beans Crystal, just want I want, yarn video. I'm working on new sleeve scarf with the Luminous Brooklyn DK weight yarn I got last Friday. Showed a photo to my lawyer, and he went crazy. He also thinks the Mandela Sparkle. yarn I got in color Crux is really nice. Was lucky Argyle yarn store in Brooklyn had some Mandela cakes, and cheaper than JoAnns. The yarn store owner thought the Crux color look so nice against my face. So thankful for your yarn videos cause, seeing you showing the Mandela Sparkle cakes, I recognized it. When I finish this sleeve scarf, going to use the Sparkle cake to make a Brioche scarf using size 5 needles. The label recommended size 5 knitting needles and H crochet hook. I was able to put a strand over my finger like you do to check the weight. Love the color of the blue cotton. You are so right about wool, some can be very scratchy. Lucky Argyles hand dyed Luminous Brooklyn is really soft wool. I find it's softer than the Hedgehog fibers yarn from Ireland. I will admit, I stopped knitting for awhile. The house I lived in had problem with moths, and even in sealed bags they chewed on the wool. When I got into my senior housing studio apartment, my lawyer pushed me to start knitting again. He said it would help with my stress level, and it has. Now I can't stop knitting everyday. Watching your videos has inspired me to create my own designs. I'm so grateful to you, for your yarn tutorials and you brighten my day. ❤
Crystal ❤I love watching you talking about yarn 🧶 That black is so amazing 🖤 I need that in my life! I would do Black, gray and red!! Watching all your ads and sending well wishes XO
I'm Australian and I love Bendigo woollen Mills too. 6 days ⁉ I ordered mine a week ago and it's not going to be to me until after the weekend. Thanks for trying out wool. I love crochet and I love yarn
Hi Crystal I love watching you open your yarn. It always looks like someone else ordered the yarn for you and you are opening a mystery box. I love your reaction and excitement. Don’t ever change.❤❤❤
I have made Sophie's Universe out of Bendigo's 10 ply cotton. It weighs a tonne but I absolutely LOVE it! Divinely soft to work with, has kept us very warm in winter.
Love Bendigo Woollen Mills yarn. As an Australian buying yarn from outside Australia can be costly, postage and the exchange rate can double or triple the cost so the project costs can blow out. The Bendigo yarn is good quality, both wool and cotton. They have a great range of colours and it's nice to work with. So good to see them getting some good press.
So exciting to see you showcase this yarn. I am in Australia and always buy from Bendigo Woollen Mills ❤I have used both luxury and prism for sweaters and wear them against my skin with no problems. I just received my whisper order and can't wait to see how it works up 🙃 Thank you Crystal
Hi Crystal I live close to Bendigo and I buy there yarn all the time I just bought whisper and I love it I will cotcher a blanket with it.The colors are all beautiful..Enjoy your wool from Australia. There is a nother woollen mill in Wangaratta Australia. ❤❤
Yarn from down under! P. Sherman, 4 Wallaby Way, Sydney! lol its so cool watching you light up when you're talking yarn. Its contagious. That orange one is the best! Carambola POWA! The Orange cream is a close second. 💜 🐼👋
I watching replay, so excited for you, Bendigo is awesome product for cotton and wool. So pleased you brought some Aussie wool. I in hospital since Friday and catching up on all my channel on yarn streets 😜😊😊👌👌👌 Looking forward to seeing what you make with the beautiful yarn. Take care., ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😏
Hi from Australia and LOVE LOVE LOVE Bendigo cottons. Ply. 2 ply is lace weight 3 ply is baby 4 ply is sock or fingering 5 ply is sport 8 ply is DK 10 ply is worsted or Aran 12 ply is bulky 14 ply is chunky. They are son soft when washed, feel lovely when making up and last lik new through heaps and heaps of washing. My fave for garments and blankets, especially mosaic blankets. The best thing about it is it doesn’t stretch out of shape like some cottons do. Personally I do machine wash my Bendi cotton and have never had a problem.
Hi Crystal. I I’ve in Bendigo and The Bendigo Woolen Mills is my hangout here 😅 the yarn is great and they have a room out the back of discontinued and balls that are not the right weight. Hope you enjoy it all ❤
You are so much fun to watch. It went by so fast. I think the Universe had a reason for all that black! The grey was such a pretty shade & that black was so saturated, they would be stunning together (if you add a color: red might be pretty?) The coffee color yarn was divine, I wanted to squish it too!
Beautiful yarn! I think some sort of Caribbean blue, azure blue or bright hibiscus pink would look very pretty with the black and grey yarn.🤷🏼♀️ Wishing you a beautiful blessed day/night 🥰💖💝🌹
Good afternoon Crystal I can't wait to see the yarn you picked up! Enjoy watching you open up all the different boxes and bags of yarn that you purchase and this big box from Australia is not going to be any different the joy and happiness you show on your face is amazing!! You always make me think I love to see all the different types of yarn from all the different places you pick to buy thank you for showing all of the different places all over the world that we can purchase yarn! That is a beautiful teal color! I really love the mosaic pecan is a beautiful ball of yarn! The colorway 440 yd of a 3-way yarn 9 balls what in the world am I going to do with all that oh I think color black with cloud black and and carambola with the yarn Whisper will be beautiful! I think black gray and red would look amazing! The luxury 8 ply orange cream is beautiful the bamboo twist I cannot wait to see the prism 8 ply rainforest is beautiful!!
I’m a crocheting man, I crochet to make my own PBR textures for computer art. I love to scan in textures and make them seamless patterns for my projects to have crocheted blankets in 3D Software.
I keep missing your late nights! even tho I don't go to bed til 4 eastern! lol black gray and red are really nice together :) That peacock color is stunning!
Yay for an Aussie yarn company!!!! I am going to head there now coz I bet they ship quickly to New Zealand ❤❤ Brilliant review of something I can get my yarny fingers on ❤❤❤ Thank you for being a yarn geek. Don't ever change ❤❤❤❤xxxx
Yarn Weights Comparison Chart Australian Yarn Weight American Yarn Weights Europe / UK Yarn Weights 8 Ply #3 - DK / Light Worsted DK 10 Ply #4 - Worsted Aran 12 Ply #5 - Bulky or Chunky Chunky 14 Ply #6 - Super Bulky Super Chunky Hope this helps Crystal. You are right about the Aussie 10 ply etc. I have been buying Bendigo yarn for a lot of years and love there soft cotton, and their machine washable pure wool. I live in Far north Queensland Australia. Love your channel & you.❤🌹🌹
Love your excitement!!! One good thing about having a bad memory,....by the time I receive an order, I've totally forgotten what I odered!!! Interesting fact: Australia produces more than 50% of the world's merino wool. WOW! These colors are lovely!!! TFS! Austin TX USA
Hi from Australia Crystal I’ve been using Bendigo wool fro many years,as I’m very new to crochet I’ve yet to crochet with it yet, have some of the cotton on hand so will use it soon Best Wishes 🇦🇺❤️
Wow thats good shipping turn around. Beautiful colors Have you tried Cotton Sprout? It's a 3ish and its garment worthy as well. I ask because I was wondering if it felt similar to i?
Hi from Australia I love using the Luxury Wool 8 ply but I love their sock yarn to it is so so soft Bendigo Wool is my favourite and really good value even here in Australia at the moment I have the Luxury wool to make the Ariana Cardigan by Berroco it is a free pattern 💐🧶
A while ago I did a series on my channel where I spoke about yarn companies from all over the world - each episode was a different continent. While working on the Australia and New Zealands episode I came across Bendigo and I can attest that their yarns are indeed very good quality - especially the wool ones. Australia in general has some amazing wools. I also like the sizes of their yarn balls, unlike Europe where most yarns come in 50g balls. !00g and 200g balls are a lot more economic in terms of buying for a large project. I know you like wool, and therefore I would reccomend you take a look at Outlaw Yarn from New Zealand. I think you would like it a lot!
That's ridiculous that it only took 6 days to get to you in the U.S.! I live 2 hrs drive away from Bendigo and it takes 6 or 7 days to get the yarn by post!
Re: your lighting. I think it might be because your room is natural wood everywhere. That wood translates orange and skews the colors of everything else. (When we lived in a house like that, it did the same thing on film.) If you had a light that could compensate for an orange back ground or you put up a white screen behind you, I think that might help.
