Great video, Now i own a few parts of her including a window cut section of fuselage, looks great on my wall however bit of shame it is not in the sky.
Incredible flight and review! Thank you for letting us have a chance to ride along with you on this beautiful journey and share in the experience! All the best from the west coast of Florida USA!!!
You mentioned having no idea so many people would be up early on New Year’s Day to catch a plane. I took an early evening flight from Paris to London on New Year’s Day. For some reason I didn’t think so many people would fly that day but the airport in Paris was packed and my flight was full. I flew Virgin from Manchester back to Orlando on Jan 4th and that flight was quite empty. I love flying Virgin Atlantic.
2020 turned out to be quite an eventful year, didn't it? This flight, this aircraft, wouldn't have been possible one year later on 1/1/21, or even just a few months later into 2020 as countries effectively shut down. I so miss the VS 747s although I was never lucky enough to sit upstairs on any of my flights with them. My last VS 744 flight was September 2019 MAN-JFK...like the person who made this video, didn't know it would be the last one at the time. They'll be missed (I also had quite an affinity for BA's B744s...)
I have platinum medallion status with Delta so it gives me skyteam elite plus status on all skyteam member airlines. So with that I get lounge access on all international flights, even with a regular economy class ticket.
The 'aircraft' at 06:35 is not actually a plane and never was, although it might have parts from some scrapped aircraft. It's a fire training device and is meant to simulate fires on both planes with underwing engines (aka B747) and rear-engined aircraft (aka DC-10). They have similarly odd-looking devices at many airports, including JFK at the ARFF parcel. It always gets a few extra looks from passing passengers when they light this device on fire during training.
