I know Tennants last episode gets flack for being too melodramatic, but his meeting Rose before the beginning of Series 1 is such beautiful way to wrap up the first RTD era.
Christopher Eccleston is the only New Who Doctor apart from Jodie not to have a Christmas special. Unless you count The Unquiet Dead which is the closest 9 came to having a Christmas special since it’s set at Christmas Eve in 1869. And also Jodie made her first appearance in the 2017 Christmas special (Twice Upon A Time) when Peter C regenerated into her. In that case… I’ll see myself out. 😅
Interesting fun fact, Chibnall revealed in an interview he had intended Spyfall to be a Christmas special but the BBC canned it. Naturally it's easier for him to be blamed for everything.
@@adamstewart9052 fair point... although I suppose we'd need more info to know the plans. It might have been more Christmas themed? I don't know how far along the plan moved before it became a NYD broadcast. I felt that it was worth bringing up anyway.
We've now had the classic three villains of Daleks, Cybermen and the Master appear in either or both a Christmas or New Year's Day special. I hope they get the break the need and deserve so we can see other villains, both new or returning, have their turn in the festive spotlight. To quote the Eleventh Doctor: "Let somebody else try first".
There is a theory that Peter Cushing Dr. Who is actually older metacrisis David Tennant doctor... According to this theory meta doctor build new TARDIS on his own and live a happy life...
The only thing I’ve sort of heard that’s atleast somewhat official about if rose got the part of the tardis to grow her own tardis is that in the bts of journey’s end RTD said that he wish he kept the scene in and pretends that the doctor still gave it to her
@@Kartzchen so weird... i dont go around spreading hate on random positive comments about doctors that i dont like, why do yall feel so comfortable doing that to 13 fans? i didnt ask! regardless of what yall say shes still gonna be my favorite doctor! go be nasty elsewhere, let people enjoy things in peace. or, better yet, actually spread some positivity and comment on YOUR favorite doctor, instead of acting like a child responding to other people.
ITS SSSOOOOOOO 90S ACTION. There’s always a random badass urban person of color, the Terminator knock off, shades at night, I mean it’s just perfection. What a fun departure from the calm, frumpy Doctor sorting things out
@@Lastname6955 that they literally destroyed Doctor Who, to mutate it into Doctor Woke. but judging by the way you try to downtalk to me, this explanaition will not reach you...
@@XgoodbyeXher personality is the most classic Doctory to me. Calm, bitter, curious, friendly. Compared to Smith or Capaldi, she’s reserved, stoic. I love her performance because she’s not too far or close, she’s just there as 13 and not trying too hard to be a new unfathomable thing.
@@XgoodbyeX that's completely separate from what I said lol I didn't say she was a good marketing choice at all but her performance was awesome despite that or old straight men being upset about representation.
Here are the "future plot points": A. Who is ruby sunday? B. Who is her nother? C. Who is the neighbour lady? D. Where is the legion of toymaker? E. Who is "one who waits"? F. Who toymaker was afraid of? G. Who is the boss of meep? H. Who is behind the mysterious hand in giggle? I. What happened to master? J. What is doctor's real origin? K. What happens to 14th now that he has his own tardis? L. What about rose? M. What about UNIT? And yes you will see me shamelessly copy pasting this up untill spring 2024.. 🗿🗿
This is such a nice little compilation, I love all these episodes, I'm glad that it's back on Christmas Day, but I think it would be cool if they did some specials relating to various holidays throughout the year though.
Never tell me that the Doctor didn't love Rose Tyler. Not when his last act was to go back and spend one last moment with her before he regenerated. Never tell me that the Doctor didn't love Yazmin Khan. Not when she looked at Yaz like that beneath the fireworks. Not when Dan's eyes went from one to the other, and smiled. Dan saw it too. Never tell me that the Doctor doesn't love. Because they do. Great video! Thanks for sharing and wishing everyone in the Whoniverse a happy new year!
@@Benplanes I was thinking of more along the lines of romantic love, whereas I view the Doctor's love for Donna as more familial, but you are right, he does absolutely love Donna too. TBH, the Doctor loves *all* of the Companions in some manner. And that is wonderful.
I like how there was only 4 New Year specials: The End of Time: Part 2 [2010] Resolution [2019] Revolution of the Daleks [2021] Eve of the Daleks [2022]
_Doctor Who: The Movie_ by Matthew Jacobs. _The End of Time: Part Two_ by Russell T Davies. _Resolution_ by Chris Chibnall. _Eve of the Daleks_ by Chris Chibnall.
I watched the first 'special' and the Christmas day episode because you can't have an opinion on something you've never seen. One thing that really stood out, many missed while distracted by the woke drivel, was the clear, heavy handed, social engineering. First episode, obey what your phone tells you. Christmas day episode, take your pills. Surveillance state propaganda and forced medical intervention propaganda.
Eric Roberts himself would probably like to redo that wooden delivery, he's done so much better as The Master for Big Finish. Wish we had 2 specials every year like we did with End of Time 1 & 2.
Beef beans becoming iconic, who knew. But come on there's nothing more icon status then Dan asking the Dalek about their manager. Lol. And the Doc and Yaz with the fireworks, a moment a lot of us will never forget. Lol bummer we can’t have Christmas and New Year specials!
The Eve of the Daleks clips left out one of Thirteen's best speeches, the one that's like "we try, we fail, we try again because that's living and it's better than the alternative."
Putting RTD's 1st and Chibnall's eras next to each other, the dip in quality is even clearer lol. Jodie could've been a better Doctor had the dialogue not being so cringeworthy. Bring back the proper villians like the Daleks, Cybermen, the Master & Rassilon. The Toymaker was a step in the right direction and then Goblins straight out of thecbbc/Disney channel... 🤦
@@mrdr0161 Santa is a part of Christmas and doesn't appear outside of those specials. Cassandra the living skin, originally had a human body, the last human alive before the Earth lost it's atmosphere and burnt up, can put it down to fictional advanced science. Goblins singing and dancing was bizzare, like something you'd find on the Disney channel. Clearly Russell T Davies' writing hasn't gone much beyond farting aliens but at least they were an alien race. There's a reason why all the highest rated episodes since 2005 have been written by Steven Moffat, he's a far superior writer.
@@ericadams3428 Given what similar things have happened to Star Wars, Star Trek and Marvel it definitely will get worse if the writers continually push 'the message' instead of writing a good story and alienating the core audience. The demographic that RTD wants as an audience (young kids) are too busy watching Tiktoks and playing Fortnite to care about DW.
I know a lot of people hated Jodie's 13th Doctor but I thought she was a terrific doctor and I am 54 years old and have watched all incarnations of the doctor, my favorite being Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker but she was a great doctor and if the writing had been a bit better, she would have benefited by that!
After seeing the Christmas episode of the 15th Doctor I was left with wondering what is up with the Doctor dancing in a nightclub? I was not a big fan of the writing for Jodies Doctor, though I thought she made a good doctor, but I am not sold on the 15th Doctor or the writing for him so far. The 13th Doctor Era was soon as too much a departure of classic who and even new who but this Christmas episode was also a rapid departure from what I believe the Doctor is and should be even more so than what people said about the 13th Doctor. I hope it gets back to the core of who the Doctor is!
@@danieljwilson7918 Jodie reminded me a lot of the Fifth Doctor. If anything, I thought her era was a throwback to the classic era. I thought the writing of the companions was surprisingly thin, but other than that, I enjoyed it. It's just a shame they were limited by Covid restrictions.
@@danieljwilson7918 The 15th Doctor was dancing in a nightclub because he was following the goblins which were following Ruby. And Ruby was performing ... in the club. Why shouldn't the Doctor join in the dancing while he is there?
The dancing scene was too much a departure for me of who I know as the doctor. I don't know how old you are but I'm nearly 55 and of course watched all of classic who so maybe I'm just old fashioned in my approach of who the Doctor is. I like your comment on 13 being similar to 5. I agree with that!
@@Laura-rp9rt Yes, you are deluded. The viewing figures tell everyone everything they need to know. People are stopping watching in droves AND the BBC was found to be fluffing the figures for the recent specials. You can argue about it all you want and play the "holier than though card" but when the viewership declines so badly, shows get cancelled. And you'll only have yourself to blame. You could try living in the real world and not this online bubble you're in. Look at the viewing figures and look at the money all major pop culture IPS are losing because of wokism.
@@vladhr4083 only watched NuWho but ranking the doctors (not their seasons / episodes) 1. Tennant as 14 2. Capaldi 3. Tennant as 10 4. Eccleston 5. Hurt 6. Whittaker 7. Smith Gatwa not ranked cus I've not seen enough of him yet
I actually have 2 very good. Doctor who ideas that, in my opinion, could resurrect the doctor who tv show. Because, Doctor who has become kind of dull and repetitive, my ideas could fix that.
Why did chimnal decide to use the daleks for all three of his new years specials. Unlike in Christmas specials where we get all different kinds of villains. Even if some of the monsters were bad.
Daleks hadn't appeared in Series 11 and they weren't in Series 12 either and only had minor roles in two episodes of Flux, so do you not want one focused on them?
