Every time I watch this particular countdown, part of me can’t help wondering how many people out in the Square and in the surrounding buildings lost their lives eight months and 10 days later.
What's crazy is how this would be the last ball drop Aaliyah would ever see. And they even made a RDJ joke this is when he was in he's dark patch in he's life. I was a little baby in 2000-2001 so I don't remember much lol
Yeah. This was the last countdown for the following celebs: Queen Marie Of Italy, Dale Earnhardt, Joey Ramone, Douglas Adams, Caroll O’Connor, Aaliyah, and George Harrison, as well as the last one before 9/11, the War in Afghanistan, as well as officially ending the 20th century. Also the last one before I was born 👌
Musical Guests: 1. Bon Jovi 2. KC and The Sunshine Band 3. Kiss 4. *NSYNC 5. O-Town 6. Jessica Simpson 7. 98 Degrees 8. Baha Men 9. Bangles 10. Boyz 2 Men 11. Lonestar 12. Third Eye Blind
That was actually the year prior. You got to remember the years didn't start with number one, it started with zero. So New year's day 2000 was the first day of the millennium.
Steve Doocy's monologue has to be the most "year 2000" thing imaginable with his cornball jokes about hanging chads and Robert Downey Jr., back when he was still the big go to punchline for actors who were huge f' ups in their personal lives.
Speaking of Steve Doocy ?, on the show primetime version of NYRE 2002 the 30th Anniversary ?, Steve said : "How about sending 98° Degrees Huh ?". That is the funniest joke of all time. Lol. 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
My experience is as soon as the ball drops all the robberies start. You have rats that come from the Boroughs and they Rob all the drunk people. So I talked with NYPD cops that night and they literally were busy all night filing reports for robberies and also the FDNY was recovering engagement rings in storm drains. Luckily I always had friends in Brooklyn, Long Island, states island. So they gave me all the pointers on what not to do! But it’s crazier than I thought.
Dick Clark: KC and the Sunshine Band have appeared on the show the most times at 4 appearances as of 2001 What artist has been given that record as of 2021?
At 35:27, Twin Towers: Something doesn't feel right. I don't know why but..........this countdown felt different from all the other's before. I don't have a good feeling about this.
Why is no one talking about 6:04-6:28, when Bill Maher makes a JLo joke and Dick Clark confuses her with Jessica Simpson and said "her husband Nick Lachey is actually performing tonight with 98 degrees" lmaoooo
Anyone have any clips of Dick, when he was pissed over Michael Green cancelling Michael Jackson's award performances? He said "I am...mad...as h***...? And when he said "Mr Green has caused me a lot of pain, and a lot of stress! I've known Michael Jackson since he was a kid. We've been, very very good friends over the years, and...to have another party interfere with that friendship, makes me, very very angry". Then another when he said "The AMA's is seen in 156 countries. The Grammys is seen all over the world. Why should one person determine, he can't do both shows?!"
Charles B. Kim - Ascent of Time: Anthem for the New Millennium No full version of it (in good quality) exists on the internet, sadly... I’ve been wanting to hear it on its own for years.
I have a question. How come the beginning of the third millennium and 21st century was celebrated on January 1, 2000, instead of January 1, 2001? The 21st century and third millennium actually begun on January 1, 2001, instead of January 1, 2000. It's a common misconception that people have about the 21st century and third millennium. There's was no year zero in the Gregorian Calendar. Here's an example. Years 1 to 1000 = first millennium and 10th century Years 1001 to 2000 = second millennium and 20th century Years 2001 to 3000 = third millennium and 30th century
The KISS Farewell Tour 2000 was a FALSE ALARM to my opinion. The band was still touring and performing to this day. YOU LIED TO US, KISS!!!!!! We trusted you. :(
