I'm surprised you could walk through any of the streets at all. I've not been in the town for lots of years now (on New Year's Eve), but the last time we went out on NYE there you could barely move in Fore Street or on the Harbour front, there was no spare space at all, they were crammed in like sardines. And you could barely get into any of the pubs whatsoever, it was absolutely rammed to the hilt, you had to fight to try to get through the people to the bar, IF you could even get a foot in the door lol. Did it get any busier than this video at all last year? It always used to be that shedloads of tourists descended on our town for New Year's Eve and it got busier and busier each year until we eventually stopped going because we couldn't stand the jostling, it just wasn't any fun being elbowed and shoved along in the crowds. And there were so many that you could go through town and have a job to see anyone you knew who lived there, so many thousands of people used to ship in for the night. I actually saw a familiar face of old in this video. I think they said one year before we stopped going that they estimated there were around 10,000 people in town. The night became a victim of its own success, I think. At least for those of us who don't do huge crowds anyway. I like to see it at a distance, online these days, so thanks for posting the video.
