In Canada you might be perfect strangers , but in Vietnam you become Superstars my friends ha ha . On NYE , Xmas Eve and Lunar New Year Eve , everywhere in Vietnam is crowded and noisy , especially in big cities like Hanoi or Saigon . People are partying non stop all night long .
I'm at the stage now where I only travel with hand luggage! And those Vietnamese donuts are addictive! 50,000D??? They were 20,000D last time i was there. That's gone right up!
Yes I'm now learning traveling with only hand luggage is the way to go! As for the donuts, we've been told that we just got way over charged for those ones and they definitely should not have been 50,000D!
Yeah we’re finding a lot of things have risen in price or we’re just getting scammed, either or most things are a lot more expensive than previous years!!
The temple in the middle that costs you guys 30k is pretty nice to visit too... I'm vietnamese that hasn't been going to that place since i was a small child, ages ago, despite living here my whole life. When i went there last week, i was quite delighted by it actually (more than i remember it to be), the red wooden bridge, the mummified turtle, the temple...its small, traditional & beautiful architecture as a genuine vernacular human scaled construction should be, totally worth 30k even for a very frugal vietnamese guy like me. Haha. I was thinking like, i should have been back here sooner and not let 2 decades passed and not visiting it as i had done.
We stayed in an air bnb and we did enjoy it, it was in a perfect spot right near the city center and Hoan Kiam Lake! Although it was extremely loud outside due to the New Years eve events while we were there it was still a very pleasant stay!
