That first show Fordjour was amazing . That artist must have spent a long time creating that . Great tour as usual Mary and kudos to the videographer too.

Your channel is my favorite because you take us to galleries and show us exquisite works of art. Your voice is soothing and there is an element of grace that surrounds you, and sometimes we are even treated to visually indulge on your gourmet dining experiences as well:-) 🧚‍♀

i am a huge fan of both Ghenie and Schutz but, in both cases, their figuration hs evolved in ways that I find challenging. I think that's a good thing .

The creation of art works is a reflection of our creator, that's why most of us humans want to create, from birth we are taught that we were created by a powerful creature that made us to it's image, how can we avoid to want to be like our creator!!! And create !!! Art is not for everyone, not everyone has that talent !!! That's why so many people don't even understand the concepts and cannons of art, beauty and human creative powers!!!

I love people watching almost as much as I love art so it is a shame that u have started to blur the faces out. Not even big news channels and international documentaries does that. Other then that, great material as usual👌

I loved the Louise Bonnet tryptich at the Biennale. I think her figures there besides their sadness and awkwardness also displayed a feeling of strength and pride in their conditio. (Not really) fun fact: do you know that Louise Bonnet is not even honoured with a Wikipedia site? Can you believe that?

I guess Cornell boxes and Francis Bacon rule the day. To quote an actual great artist (David Byrne)- Say something once, why say it again?

I’m wondering did you realize that the shots of you at the Adrian Ghenie exhibit show doing exactly what he’s commenting on in the paintings? 😅

Also, I’d like to add that I’m a HUGE fan of your channel. I literally watch every minute of every video. I live in LA and attend lots of shows here, but your videos provide wonderful exposure to what’s showing, basically in the rest of the art world. Adrian Ghenie’s commentary aside, I think you’re a bright spot on RU-vid and social media. Thank you! Keep right on using your smart phone!@@MaryLynn_Buchanan

Art is meant to engage with the World. The actions of the climate change protesters, who are trying to save the world, add to the Artworks that they are incorporating into their protest and give the artworks a new relevance. Its performance Art with a serious message. By incorporating those protests INTO the work Ghenie is reflecting reality and engaging with it. Ghenie is painting something important that is happening to paintings. Are the protests effective? well, we are talking about them and climate change so yes, they are effective.

I would be interested why you think the Just Stop Oil protests aren’t effective? You said that while showing an artwork depicting the protest in a show that is questioning media distortion and misinformation. Personally I think the inaction of previous generations is why more radical action is necessary now. What good is any artwork if there are no more humans around?
@kaes7041
@kaes7041 7 месяцев назад
Well, not flying to Europe just to see some art shows might be more effective than a Just Stop Oil protest. If we want to stop oil we have to start acting responsibly, just protesting will not change a thing.

Derek's paintings were great but the installation and performance art was gimmicky. Bonnet's work had a low brow meets surrealism feel to it. Installation art I mainly find as a gimmick over the last 3 decades. I didn't find the rest of the artists anything special.

the word race is tragically dated. we are all just variants, variants of what you may ask, the answer is, sorry no prototype all just variants, variants of variants even "identical" twins are Just variants

our artists are losing there humanity and minds none of these artists show hope they seem to have sold out

First you are a lovely style icon. The first artist seems to express the feelings of surrealism in being a minority. The second to me seems to be commenting different threats to OUR humanity. The last is very existential and is a hard read for me I don't get the aestetique if you have so much money resources and energy at your disposal Why create stuff so ugly?
