The Reason for this is because I have a family, and because of my work, and gym schedule, streaming all of The Knicks games would be impossible, so I began covering The Lakers in late 2018, because most of their games are played at 9:00PM EST, or later.

The common denominators in all of these coach/GM regimes is the Maras and their relatives are in personnel and scouting. The 70's Giants finally rebuild when Wellington and his nephew completely took their hands off of personnel and turned it over to George Young. I think that kind of self-awareness is needed now more than ever.

I'm going opposite...Do a Jerry Jones and have John Mara take complete control...Get a Cowboys-style "War Room" populated by good personnel folks and make the ultimate player/draft decisions through John Mara - with no GM at all. As much a Jerry Jones gets flack, he drafted two HOFers in Lamb & Parsons + he got Dak in 4th Round...MUCH better track record than Giants over the last five years. Plus, after only Week 1, would you rather be the Giants, or the Cowboys right now...??

@@stanfromwestport2024 you make a very valid point there My only argument to that is yes you can talk about all those accolades but when a GM with the mentality of Jerry Jones takes over that would keep a good head coach from really coming in because now that owner wants to stay in control and wants a coach that's a yes man and that can cause the organization to continue to hire not so good coaches and if you look at the cowboys track record they haven't had any really good coaches in the last few few years because the ones that did get hired or yes men to Jerry Jones

Joe Schoen has missed on too many draft picks, He also miss handled the Daniel jones situation by giving him big contract instead of tagging him. He also didn't evaluate this team properly he should of went in with a mind set of a complete rebuild but chose to just revamp the team. The correct thing to do was to do a complete rebuild by trading Saquan and letting daniel jones go and tanking for a good Qb. He defiantly needs to be on the HOT seat.

It’s not about Schoen’s drafting. Functionally he hasn’t been good at his job. He decline Daniel Jones’ 5th year contract that forced him into paying him $160M He traded valuable picks for Brian Burns despite knowing you need to trade up for Drake Maye He is still starting Daniel Jones in 2024, that’s already fireable, and his best idea for a backup is “drew lock” This year he waited until 5 days before the season to sign his CB2 Both his top 10 picks from 3 years ago have been benched He was a brand new GM who was an experimental hire, he’s failed. If you watched hard knocks off-season with the giants....their was a clip that was really telling. It is when John Mara said, "if saquon goes to Philadelphia I will not be able to sleep at night" Right then and there that's the boss telling you, you better resign that player, whatever you have to do. The G.M. doesn't read the room. When your boss is literally telling you what to do, you do it. That's what is going to get him fired. You don't want your boss, not being able to sleep at night. So yes, he will probably be fired at the end of the year.

The problem with schoen is that he brought in people and players he was familiar with from buffalo for the most part instead of building a team with the right parts. Most of the personel he brought from buffalo are mediocre at best. Josh allen gave a lot of management and coaches jobs around the league.

I don't think they'll fire the GM just yet. Jones needs to go thats without saying. Giants weren't winning that many games with Barkley let alone a deep run to the play offs. Once Jones and the entire coaching staff is fired Giants will be in a better place.

@@AmazingGuy13 he didn’t let saquan walk. He turned down several contracts. He rebuilt the line from dead last last Sean to being ranked #10 last week. Burns and thib have played 1 game together. Most of these starters either didn’t play at all or only played 2 quarters all of pre season. The offense couldn’t keep the defense off the field by extending drives and scoring points. Schoen HAS done a good job with the time he’s been given. He need to be allowed to correct the QB situation. You know is damn well John Mara’s fingerprints were all over that Jones contract.

As ridiculous as Gettleman getting four years was, I do think some of that was Mara looking at Gettleman's first run with the Giants as the reason for him having more leeway than was deserved. You can see from hard knocks that Schoen is not a yes man. Mara is more frustrated with him, and he also doesn't have any good will built up from prior winning that Gettleman had built up when he was working under Reese.

Already? Being on the hot seat is overdue for this guy! His handling of the Jones contract was amateur hour! He should have paid Barkley in 2023 and tagged Jones! Then when he got injured they could have moved on from Jones and got their QB in the draft! Instead, he gives Jones 80 million guaranteed dollars. If as an NFL GM he wasn’t smart enough to recognize and acknowledge that making the playoffs was luck, and that they beat a horrible Viking Defense in the playoff game, and it wasn’t Jones “finally reaching his potential” , then he has no clue and no business being an NFL GM! My god, just a week later in Philly the real Jones was horrible! A smart GM puts the emphasis on the loss against the good D not the padded stats against a horrible one. Until further notice Gettleman is better than Schoen. As much as I want to tank, I can’t do it. These guys have to step up for Joe’s sake. I believe he chose his quarterback already which was the worst football decision of my life. Yes, worse than Watson imo. At least Watson WAS good. Jones never was. But if Joe wants a shot at correcting this horrible wrong and draft a qb then these guys that he picked and signed has to step up because it looks like Joe is incompetent at the moment. I look at other teams. I look at competent teams. The Texans, Lions, Bengals, Packers, dear I say it? I won’t but you know. All these other guys have successful turnarounds. Why are we so bad? And look at the IMMEDIATE impact some other teams draft picks be having. Why can’t we have that? Why do we always need to wait? I don’t understand it. And I am patient believe it or not! I am giving these guys 3-4 years much like I gave even Jones. But why is everything so hard and slow for us? Most of these teams that go from crap to great in one season usually changed a coach and added one or two weapons we had a shit o line, shit receivers, a shit QB, an always injured RB and a shit secondary when they took over. If the Giants "earn" the number one or number two overall pick, then they should do a clean sweep of the organization, fire the entire front office, coaching staff and cut the QB. Let the new GM start over fresh. Sure 4 years to let a GM build a team, but if at the end of year 3 the team is the worst or second worst team in the league, then that GM has had their chance.

We only played one game, and it feels like an entire season went by. We're literally picking up right where we left off. Personally I'm 50/50 on firing Joe Schoen but lets see how the rest of the season goes.

Yes, he did not properly evaluate DJ and drafted poorly so far. He did clean the salary mess, and get maybe top three pick next year. Those will be wonderful for next GM, lol

Schoen botched five BIG things: 1) Saquon departure 2) Re-signing Jones for $140 mil 3) OL he "improved" in the off-season did not impress in opener 4) Except for jury still out on Malik Nabers, draft picks turned out to be shaky, at best, and could be busts for the most part in another year or two 5) AND THE BIG ONE - he came off like an incompetent on Hard Knocks and actually embarrassed the NYG Org and John Mara personally + If we continue to suck as bad as Week 1 (or worse), he's out for sure

Few thoughts; Evan Neal has to be one of the most unexpected bust in recent memory. Literally everyone thought he would at least be a starting level LT at this level and up until now he looks completely lost. Another thought, Joe Scheon messed up the second he took the job and didn’t use the 5th year option on Jones’s rookie contract. If he had done that he would have been able to lock up Barkley long term. They had nothing to lose using that fifth year option and he picked not to. That’s on him

The common denominator with basement teams is a revolving door of the gm and coaching staff. The expectations of how quickly a team can be turned around doesn't align with the constructs of the league to build a team. You can't turn around a 53 man roster in 1 year with 9 draft picks and free agency. If it was that easy then every team would .500 and every game would decided by 1 point.

Schoen's revamped O-line gave up 5 sacks, 12 QB hits, 5 TFL (5 sacks x 17 games = 85 sacks - same as last year!). G-Men D had 1 sack and 2 QB hits... geez. RBs had 45 rushing yards. Shoen and Daboll should have been gone last year! There has already been plenty of coaching turnover - The turmoil starts at the top!

I'll be fair with Joe . First year he didn't have his full scouting staff set yet. Wandale, McFadden and Bellinger were good picks though. There are huge misses on Ezeudu and Neal, but I also put that on coaching. They were broken in the first year. I'll wait on Thibs until the end of the season to give my final grade on him. Last year's draft got us 2 key starters in Banks & JMS. Only time will tell how that class ends up. His biggest flaw is not drafting a late-round QB to have Dabs develop. I understand 100% we have needs everywhere but there should have been a contingency plan knowing DJ's health. Joe will get another 2 years.

I’d give him another year. I think it’s more on player development. He hasn’t had many bad picks necessarily, they just haven’t panned out. Thibedoux and Hutchinson were the best pass rusher in that class and Neal was a “pro ready” lineman. Who else should he have taken? Not like he picked Toney or 5 LBs like gettleman/judge did

1. The Giants might be a playoff team with a competent QB. Look how Tyrod and Devito played. 2. Daboll took a bum like DJ to the playoffs. If he calls a bad play the 6th year QB should, I don't know audible? 3. Evan Neal gave up two sacks last year with a QB that consistently holds on to the ball too long. 4. So are we now regretting signing Jones when everyone else said what other option was there. 5. Joe Schoen didn't take over a bad situation. Once Golloday fell off the Giants were good but this idiot signed a bum QB to a 40M contract, and a 10 sack guy in Burns to a 20 plus million dollar contract. 6. Joe could have literally paid to bring Barkley and XM back. Saved the money on Lock and drafted a QB and picked up another LB for the defensive coordinator. 7. Joe Schoen the really sleep Joe needs to be fired ASAP FOR POOR CONTRACT MANAGEMNT.

I actually think the problem is with Daboll, not Schoen. I truly believe that Daboll has a strong personality and that his strength is creating a united locker room. However, his play calling is just atrocious. Every single play is either a short rinky dink pass or a run. We NEVER air the ball out deep. The play calling also lacks any creativity and never utilizes our wide receivers. I think Schoen has actually drafted some solid players like Hyatt, Nabers, and Wandale they are just never utilized. Very frustrating to watch this play calling every weekend.

His draft picks have not really done much. I think100%. Jones will be forever hated and responsible for this mess. Keeping him was a big mistake. Coach would go B4 he does. He is very iffy. New Coach would be a must.

My issues are as I've stated before can't let a starting safety walk 3 straight years Peppers, Love, and McKinney and then talk of concerns about the secondary. Then address O-line with questionable talent and expect upgrade in play, remember Andrew Whitworth wanted to come here and Gettleman passed. Bengals let him walk because of age but he would have been better than any of the assclowns we've signed the last several years. As for your point in bringing in another GM, apply that to Saquon, he went to a team that is ready to contend right now whereas right now we're staring down the barrel of another dreadful season.

If you want the revolving door to continue, then cut him loose. A lot of the draft picks many fans loved. It's easy to be an arm chair QB and say now his draft class sucks. The whole SB nightmare is not because they didn't try to sign him. The GM and coach need more time. I'd give them 5 years. Let them get their own QB and then 2 years to make it work.

Lets see how they do this season. I still think Schoen and Daboll are the right guys. Daniel Jones sucks, they didn't draft him, and the rumor is that it is Mara is the one that wanted to give Jones the deal, not Schoen and Daboll. Has he been perfect, no? But he needs time. We have to give these guys time. Keep building the team, and then find the QB. Next year is the year to draft the QB. Ewers or Beck HAS to be a GIANT next year.

The reason the team looks like it’s regressing is because no one believes DJ can win the game. Very hard for a defense to perform knowing the offense will throw a pick 6 more often than a TD. They cannot rally behind a leader like that

For the last year or so, I’ve believed Joe Schoen was one of the more overrated GMs. He isn’t terrible, but he hasn’t hit on his draft picks, gave Jones a big contract and let Barkley walk, not really building a great roster. I personally believe he should get a chance with Daboll to restart with their own QB, but Jones could very well cost them both their jobs.

If GIANTS lose this weekend, you have to sit Daniel Jones, give our backup QB's chances to see who is capable and also Mara has to make some calls to Bill Billicheck as new Head Coach and John Gruden as Offensive Coordinator. Keep Schoen but fire Daboll.

This falls strictly on coaching. I know people think DJ is horrible. Reality is that DJ would be a serviceable backup and we see all the time that even with backups coaches can get these guys to put points on the board . We saw it all of last year when 20% of starting QBs were hurt. They still put up points. Dabol has to wake tf up.

Gettleman was better and did more in a shorter time frame. He drafted all of the guys we made the playoffs with. Gentleman couldn’t pick a coach, he drafted better than Schoen 100%. Schoen got rid of Barkley, Gettleman got rid of OBJ. Gettleman drafted well tho! Andrew Thomas, Dex, Saquon, Jones etc. Schoen got Darren Waller, drafted Neal, let Barkley walk, didn’t give DJ 5th year option and then paid him 40 mill per year. It seems like Schoen doesn’t have a plan or know what he’s doing build wise.
