Nothing like seeing the Patriots bounce around from stadium to stadium during the 60s in the city of Boston. They made the AFL Championship in 1963 ( I believe) and got pounded 56 to 3 by the Los Angeles Chargers. They became the New England Patriots in 1970 when the AFL and NFL merged after Super Bowl IV. They appeared in Super Bowl XX against the Chicago Bears and got pounded 46 to 10. They got another shot in Super Bowl XXXI against the Green Bay Packers only to lose another 35 to 21. Then Tom Brady came along. Thanks Tom, the greatest quarterback to ever play in the NFL.
...then zygote Tom Brady comes in to lead two late touchdown drives for a stunning 34-30 Patriots win! Seriously, I love old AFL highlights. Thanks for sharing.
As s teenager in the 80s collecting Topps football card sets I was even drawn to this era of football. I completed a 72 football set and longed to find a 65 Namath. Pure football. Grateful Paul Brown started the Bengals. Ken Anderson was my idol in 81.
Love this! Babe Parilli and Gino Cappaletti. I knew Gino was their field goal kicker but didn’t know he was doing double duty as a receiver. He was a busy boy in those days. As a lifelong Boston fan this is gold!
@@michaelleroy9281 that was then this is now! And he sold his soul to the devil to do it! Brady and now Mac has owned the Jokes for over twenty plus years and I love every minute of it. Having the Jokes in the basement every year is one of the only things left in the world that makes any sense.
Miss the days of the independent AFL. Football is great now, but I can't help feeling something was lost when they merged. I miss the gum in the AFL trading cards. Wish I still had the cards...
Good footage of football at Fenway! Nice to see Joe Namath with some ability to escape the rush. By the time I started watching football he had limited mobility. Thanks for posting.
The patriots have beat my Bolts like dogs for 40 years, these days are all I have to hold onto, when the chargers smoked em in the old AFL championship, the patriots have been paying us back ever since!!
Bring up the 1967 Bills highlight film ; they crashed and burned, but there is good footage of a late season win at Fenway, including pick sixes from Tom Janik (future Pats punter) and Marty Schottenheimer, who was a Bills LB.
