One thing he said that hits home is how shooting is family fun. When you do visit a range and after you're comfortable with the safety basics, I suggest finding a dueling tree target. The row of targets flap back and forth, so you can race each other clearing your side of the tree. All these guns were semiautomatic, full auto takes special licensing. Hunting rifles are much bigger than these sporting rifles. (Excluding the .50 BMG)
@CGT80

Dueling trees are fun. In SoCal, I competed against about 60 other people in a dueling tree match and managed second place. The guy who beat me is the father of Steel Challenge, Mike Dalton......which he started when I was filling diapers. If only they compared the power of each cartridge and showed the what a wood stock mini14 or M1 Garand looks like compared to black rifles. Silhouette competitions are also very fun and I used to run 3 gun, action pistol, idpa, etc. People have no idea it is similar to auto racing, where there are many versions of the sport with many people who participate.

It's foreign to me as someone who's been around guns all my life.. I was shooting shotguns by myself with my first cousins squirrel and rabbit hunting from around age 8.. and with zero adult supervision too.. we were running all over our dad's farms and shooting shotguns or .22s and during deer season we were shooting high-powered rifles like 30-06 etc... so as someone completely steeped in gun culture from a very young age, it's interesting to see people in anti-gun societies react to guns with fear and/or aversion, etc... :)

11:10 Most firearms sold to civilians are generally semi-automatic only. The only way you can get a fully automatic firearm in the United States is by buying one that has a history of being registered before 1986 as a "machine gun" (runs around $20,000 to $60,000 a piece) or by aquiring special licenses (Federal Firearms License and Special Occupational Taxpayers License) because of the Hughes Amendment that was passed in 1986. Otherwise you are stuck with semi-automatic firearms.

I've seen some light machine guns like the M60 go for over $100k, and if you really have absurd amounts of money, you can buy an M134 minigun for around $250k. FFL/SOT is definitely the cheaper route. Hoping to get that set up when I move, so I can start up a little bit of extra income as well as do things like buy an M249 and drop a full-auto trigger pack in it without risking 10+yrs in prison lol

@@jcmar209 Well not a lot of people know that only 13% of the colonies were in rebellion against Britain. Yet they won. So if a rebellion happened it wouldn't take that much people and history proves it. Hit and run tactics. The government would not be able to tell who is the rebel and who is the not. For the rebels would act like normal citizens when not fighting. Perfect example is this story. I watched a video of a man who served in Vietnam. He was patrolling an area when a nice Vietnamese local came up to him. They talked and the gentleman was expressing his gratitude and thanking him for fighting for them. He invited him to his house for dinner. So he and his buddies ate at the fellas house and talked. A week later they got jumped by the Viet-cong, and lo and behold, after the fight when they were going through the dead, there was that guy who fed them dinner, dead as a door nail holding his AK47. They had not a clue that he was a rebel, and if crap happens here than that stuff will happen too. Which now you will be wondering, well the government has tanks, aircraft, and missles. Okay your right so did we during Vietnam. Yet the Viet-cong still won. Just because you have all this technology doesn't mean crap. Hate to say it, same thing in Afghanistan too. Not only that, who is the government going to send? You think an American soldier will fire and kill a U.S. rebel? They take an oath to protect the people and the constitution, not the government. There will be defectors from the military dude. They will join the rebellion and fight against the government. Now what if the government starts bombing and shooting missles into cities? You know the whole world is going to be watching. You think Britain, Canada, and other countries will sit back and do nothing? They would definitely help the rebellion. People, from these countries, would see the missles and bombs dropping on the cities, and will think no wonder the rebels are trying to overthrow their government. They are killing innocent people. The government would lose if a revolution would happen. Just look at other revolution during history. 9 times out of ten the rebels win. Hoped this help. Oh and the military ran a battle simulation of if a rebellion happened against the government. The rebels would win. I would link the video but youtube has since taken it down.

I had a few of the guns on their list but I lost them in a boating accident unfortunately. The reality is that America has a gun culture built into it from our founding, and a vast majority of Americans that own guns are responsible. The type of people that would defend a random family in the event that someone with bad motives tried to cause harm. But I appreciate that you mentioned the tyrannical government. That is really the fundamental point of the second amendment. America was founded on fighting a tyrannical government, which is why when our constitution was written, our new government determined that the citizens should have the means to fend off tyranny in the name of freedom. If you come to the states again I hope you can get to a range it is a lot of fun.

You were absolutely right about the second amendment. Our founding fathers had just rebelled against a tyrannical government and they wanted to ensure the people would always have a means to rebel should our government ever become tyrannical too. We would never let them take them. 🇺🇲

This is a very old video. The old guy, Barry if I remember correctly, has passed away. They were not related, just co-workers. As for kids on the rifle, I took a family out to teach them to shoot a few weeks ago. The youngest girl, around 10, did amazingly well. Always obeyed the 4 safety rules and shot just about everything I took - she bowed out on the 308 hunting rifle. I did have to help her hold the AR because I had my suppressor on it to tame the flinch from the loud noise. As for hunting, I use my AR-15 every year for dear. In Oregon - the state I live in - I have to use a 5 round max magazine for hunting, but that goes for any rifle we hunt with. It makes for a light, compact package that is easy to carry in the brush. All of the guns shown were semi-auto. We can own fully auto, but it had to be originally put on the registry before 1986. That makes a simple $1k AR15/M16 a $20k collector.

Most of my firearms are semiauto hand held and sporting long arms, 7mm mag for hunting, 454 casull with 4x scope for hunting, the rest are .22 to .45 for target and plinking cans. I taught my daughter how to shoot when she was seven and purchased a 7mm08 for her when she turned 16. All in all I enjoy owning 14 total firearms.

My wife and I were in NZ at the Aukland airport coming home exactly one day after the Christchurch shooting. We had been out in the woolies for two weeks fishing and knew nothing of it, as we had no means of hearing the news while we were there. The airport security took us to a back room and gave us a very thorough questioning about our business in NZ and if we had been to the South Island. Very strange since the shooter was Australian, not American. We didn't know what it was all about until we got to Houston. So sorry your government stole all of your semi automatic weapons over one sick freak.

Hey guys: FYI, the ammo for that Barrett .50 caliber rifle is about five dollars US. The semi-auto rifles can be used for hunting, although the .223/5.56x45 cartridge is a bit anemic for critters bigger than say, a goat (size comparison). The 7.62x39 round found in the AK variant rifles is good for animals up to deer size. Generally, magazine capacity when hunting game animals (think deer, as opposed to varmints like prairie dogs, rock chucks, etc) is usually restricted to 5 rounds in the gun (the rifle with all of those mags on it was to demonstrate attachments for extra magazines). I don't know of anyone that hunts with a full auto rifle. For starters, there are better choices that are a LOT less expensive (say, $1500.00 for a nice AR-15 and $15,000.00 and UP for anything full auto) and besides, many states ban the possession of full auto guns. I'm sorry that the New Zealand government is so untrusting of it's decent, law abiding citizens that you have to belong to a club to own a handgun, and be required to log when and where you go with it. That sort of thing is part of the reason we told George III to go stuff himself. Have a good day, and behave yourselves!

Depending where you buy the ammo and what type FMJ, Armor Piercing, Tracer, etc the .50 ammo can go for between $4-$12 USD per round. Probably a little cheaper if you buy everything individually and make the ammo yourself.

There is a reason why Britain doesn't allow guns - they say it's to prevent deaths, but if you really think about what happened in the USA. the fact that citizens had weapons is why they are free from Britain in the first place, they don't want that to happen again. so if they keep weapons out of the hands of the people, theres little chance of a revolt

In many US states, it is illegal to hunt with a 5.56, which is the most common chambering of an AR; not because it’s too powerful, but because it is considered to be too weak, to humanely harvest a deer.

ARs are used for so e hunting, but typically not game animals. Others have mentioned feral hogs (the few I know who hunt hogs use the more powerful AR-10), but I've also heard of people using the more common AR-15 for varmint hunting (coyotes, prairie dogs, etc.)

I'm currently in the South Carolina "Lowcountry." Here, the AR15 is more popular for dealing with the rather severe hog and coyote problem than the AR10. But that has to do with terrain. Thick swampy land means short range. Due to this, a popular setup is AR15 in 300 Blackout with a night optic and suppressor.

I’ve been shooting for years. I’ve shot a fully automatic machine gun at the range a few times. As far as owning one, legally, it’s very expensive because they haven’t made them for the civilian market since 1986. If you have the opportunity to obtain one, you will be fingerprinted, photographed, and the gun is registered with the ATF (Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms). Usually the only way you can buy one is through auction or they are passed down to family members. No one is buying fully automatic weapons in gun shops or gun shows.

To answer the question, most of these do have hunting purpose. I mean, maybe you don't take the .50 BMG to go hunt unless you want to bag that T-Rex or something but the regular rifles and even the shotgun could be used to hunt deer, or hogs, or most things that have 4 legs. You have to pick your ammo right and maybe, depending on locality, have to change what magazine you are bringing, but you can hunt with these

Actually, with 5 round magazines like any other rifle, you can hunt deer in some states with an AR-15, but the rounds are so tiny that you wouldn't want to hunt anything larger. The AR-10 in .308 caliber is another story, .308 or 7.62x51 is a common hunting caliber, which as a hunter you would know or for long range shooting. The Barett is actually used for long range target shooting and it's the only one of all of those that is actually used by the military as an anti-vehicle and anti-personnel weapon, but still a semi-automatic rifle. My son was issued one in the Marines in Iraq and in the National Guard here in Oregon where he was a sniper team leader. Watch some videos of people shooting it in slow motion and you will see the waves generated from the blast rippling through them. If you shoot it enough in a short span of time, his description was like standing in front of the large speakers at a rock concert, it can actually make you ill. So, if they needed to burn up old ammo, they would get as many people from the company together and let everyone try it, clerks, cooks, anyone who wanted to. He mentioned the price of the gun. That's without the several thousand dollars for an appropriate scope system. You could easily be into the whole package $15,000 or more.

Those were all semi-auto rifles. With exception of the last big one, the other 4 guns are all usable for hunting, fun, or home defense. Most AR 15s and the Tavor shoot the same bullets, only major difference is the length of the guns and the feel of how they operate. On the receiving end, no different. You can hunt deer, hogs, or other common game animals with any of the first 4 guns reasonably well.

Those are definitely all semi. These guys have an FFL and do have access to machine guns. Which is why they have footage of them. And the only gun on that table you could hunt with is the shotgun. The rifles are too weak and wont reliably kill game. And the 50 cal would blow up the game. Ive actually shot one before. And i took down a tree with it. 50 BMG full metal jackets which is the cheapest by the way is around $10 a round.

Yes it is usually for fun. But also basic firearm knowledge is great especially in the US where you will see guns and as a kid there is a good chance you will come across them. It is good to know how to deal with them. I started shooting at age 4 and got my first pistol at 8. Having respect for firearms and growing up around them also keep the mystery of them down and they are just seen as a tool. FYI machine guns are legal but only ones produced before 1986 making them rare and really expensive. And yes the 2A comes down to the people having power over their govt.

So surprisingly, although America is known for guns, we actually have a lot more laws than you would think. All of those were semiautomatic, as automatics are very expensive, as anything made after 1986 is basically unobtainable for anyone outside military or law enforcement. Pre ban automatics cost at minimum 20,000 USD, and can take years to find for sale and go through the extensive paperwork. Also, suppressors are registered with government as well, and can take up to a year to get approval to own one. So to your point about bazookas, those are very expensive and not able to be acquired by the average American, and the ammo is explosive so that is also highly regulated.

There are many corporate style experiences such as Battlefield, Machine Gun USA and Machine Gun Vegas in Las Vegas and many other metropolitan areas that offer chances to shoot our more heavily regulated fully automatic weapons. There are also local gun ranges just about everywhere that offer rentals and lessons for novices. You should find the community extremely open and welcoming to all experience levels and filming is usually accepted, if not encouraged.

Most of the gun deaths in America are either self inflicted or gamg violence. Gangs naturally don't follow the law and self deleting is also illegal. The same thing that happened with alcohol happened with firearms. The government has created a black market for firearms, as well as trying to make it almost impossible for regular law abiding citizens in some states to even learn how to properly use their firearms without issues. Also for the people who say you don't need automatics to defend yourself why is it that congressional security teams and law enforcement are legally allowed to have them? Why aren't they not allowed to have them legally, because criminals don't listen to laws.

To answer the question of what guns you can legally get in the US to the best of my ability: At the age of 18 years old, you can purchase any long gun (rifles, shotguns, etc.). At the age of 21 years old, you can purchase pistols. As for what guns you can't own, generally the rule of thumb is fully automatic weapons and explosive. Technically, you can own both, but they, to my knowledge, require special licensing. You can also own a flamethrower at 18, due to their use in agriculture. All firearm purchases from a location with a Federal Firearms License (FFL) is subject to an FBI background check. Other than FFL shops, private sales are the only other legal way of obtaining a firearm. The regulations on these vary widely between states. Concealed carry also varies from state to state, from outright illegal, to needing a Concealed Carry Permit, to Constitutional Carry in which you can conceal carry by default. As for shooting ranges, many will let you rent guns from the establishment. Some even carry full-auto guns that you can rent. If you guys decide to go to a range, don't hesitate to ask if one of the employees can help show you the ropes, especially with safety. Easiest way to get hurt by a gun is to not respect it for what it is, though that's not to say you should fear them.

The only firearm they showed that would not normally be used for "hunting" is the last one, the Barrett 50 cal. All the others are very suitable for hunting game animals, as long as the bullet weight and cartridge length comply with the local hunting regulations. Here in Wyoming, the bullet has to have a weight of at least 60 grains to be used for larger game such as deer or antelope. Lighter than 60 grain bullets would be used to hunt predators such as coyotes, wolves, fox, mountain lion, raccoon, among others. I use my AR-15 rifles to help keep the prairie dog and raccoon population in check on the land I grew up on. They are all very effective tools for the job they are used for. One other thing to bear in mind is that the AR in AR-15 stands for Armalite Rifle, with the number following designating the model number. I have an AR-9, which is a carbine rifle chambered in 9X19 , commonly used in 9mm pistols. I also have an AR-10, chambered in .243 Winchester, which is my premier deer rifle. The AR-7 Explorer was a .22 caliber survival rifle that disassembled easily for compact carrying and storage. AR does not stand for "assault rifle" or "automatic rifle", as is usually the case when reported on by the media, who almost always get their reports wrong. If you would like more information, feel free to contact me any time. I'd love to talk with you, and would love it even more if you were to accept the offer of visiting here in my home state of Wyoming, where you can see so many incredible places, such as Yellowstone National Park, Devil's Tower, Hell's Half Acre (where they filmed the movie Starship Troopers) The Big Horn Mountain Range, Devil's Kitchen, The Red Gulch Dinosaur Track Site, The Buffalo Bill Historic Museum, and far too many other incredible places to name.
