I love that they keep private stuff, private like not filming when the kids get in trouble, cuz lets face it even good kids get in trouble from time to time. I really like the philosophy The LeRoys family has for their vlogs. They don't film when their kids are in trouble for something, grades, school, something at home, because they don't want their kids shamed online where its permanent, they want them to have the chance to grow from bad choice and have redemption without online mobs going after them.

For those that may not be totally aware, here is the "official" blurb about the upside-down blizzard rule: Employees were instructed to serve Blizzards upside down, or they were free. They were able to do this because of the weight, texture, and composition of the Blizzard. While this rule only applied to participating locations, many stores adopted the policy permanently.
@LN-Lifer
@LN-Lifer 8 месяцев назад
The policy is b******* When dairy Queen gets busy, the ice cream machine cannot keep up Then they just don't turn the blizzards over
@wolfpile1
@wolfpile1 8 месяцев назад
I worked for a Dairy Queen Fancher many years ago (more than I care to admit). We were told not to turn blizzards upside down. The types that have a lot of syrup in them don't hold so well. The types without syrup you can hold upside down and shake it, and it won't come out. So long as it hasn't started melting.
@SneakyCheeseThief
@SneakyCheeseThief 8 месяцев назад
@@wolfpile1 DQ employee question: I had a girlfriend who worked at DQ when we were in high school, and she said the tubs of chocolate caramel and strawberry they used to dip the cones hadn’t been turned off in like twenty years. They just kept adding packets of chocolate or caramel and kept the heat on. Is that true? I always wondered if there was really a chance I’d get a little bit of chocolate that was older than I was. Anyway, she wasn’t the most honest chick … She said I was good at sex, which I definitely wasn’t.
@wolfpile1
@wolfpile1 8 месяцев назад
@SneakyCheeseThief At the DQ I worked at, we would shut them off at night and turn them on the next morning. The owner was way too cheap to "waste the money" by keeping them running all night. We did refill them, not replace them. So, I guess theoretically, the answer is yes.

@RonaldSimkin

I guess I was one of the first humans to have a Dairy Queen Blizzard nearly 40 years ago now. As I understand it the Dairy Queen franchise is actually older than Mc Donalds. Back when they began, they didn't sell hamburgers though. When some locations began to offer hamburgers, to distinguish them for customers driving by, these locations were called "Dairy Queen Braizer." That just meant that this location had all the soft-serve AND a grill.... But one of my first jobs out of high-school was working at Dairy Queen, and I was there when the Blizzard was first launched. To showcase just how thick a Blizzard was -- as opposed to a "thick" shake -- we had to turn every Blizzard up-side-down before handing it to the customer. The people who came to our store to teach us how to make the product were not simply district managers..... We had an early launch, this would have been about 1984 as I recall.

This is what I was hoping for in a German McDonalds with their version called a flurry or something .I thought I coult bring a slice of NY cheesecake (homemade) and some strawberry jam (with real strawberries) and I could just mix them up with my cheesecake graham cracker crust as well. It turned out perfectly, like my husband's favorite American Blizzard - the Strawberry Cheesequake. However if we tried it again we might be kicked out.

In the small city of Wooster (oo pronounced more like ah) that's near where I live, they do have a dq as well, but I prefer dairy land (been around longer than dq) It's a small place, eat out of your vehicle site. Can place your orders inside or at the window in warmer seasons. There is a patio, but everyone prefers to eat in the vehicle. Also sells more than ice cream, but that's my own personal preference. Their milkshakes are like and as thick dq's blizzards. And you can get em with almond milk. Tastes the same, just without the pain. My favorite shakes are Oreo/Cookies N' Cream, spiced peach, and strawberry cheesecake. The spoon is part spoon and part straw. Comes in handy, lemme tell ya. With strawberry cheesecake I like to bring it home, add some cinnamon, mix it in, and toss it in the freezer to re-chill. Sooo good!

By the way, you don't have to stick to what is just on the menu for Blizzard flavors. You can make up you own combinations as long as it is something the actually have in the store. For example, you could have them add banana to the Smores and have a Banana Smores Blizzard. Or any combination you think you would like. At least any of the stores I have been to. @@LN-Lifer I’m guessing she must have averaged in what she thought of the other 3 also, and that she REALLY didn’t like the cookie dough one and thought the others were just so so. That is one way to score, but if I’m judging a place, I’m basing it on what I ordered. And if I loved what I ordered as much as she seemed to, then it likely becomes a new favorite place that I go back to again and again. These types of favorite places are always 9s or 10s in my mind. It only takes loving ONE thing on the menu for me. But maybe she is thinking more like a restaurant critique and feels the need to score based on everything she tried. That is okay for a reviewer I guess, but is not how most people operate in the real word, where people discover something they really love and then keep going back to the place to get that same thing.

There are 2 types of DQ in the States; Treat and Grill. I have a DQ Treat right next to my house, they only serve ice cream. The DQ Grills have ice cream and a food menu (burgers, chicken strips, etc). So yea, you guys were at a DQ Grill. My favorite Blizzard is reeses!

Dairy Queen's are social institutions in many small Texas towns. If a town didn't have a DQ, it wasn't really a city. Thank you, Atlanta and Denzel, for reminding us of how good it is to be a kid at a Dairy Queen. 😊

Oh I was so glad to see you got the S’mores blizzard! It’s my favorite seasonal blizzard. I’ve not had the Carmel cheesecake. I worked at DQ in high school. I was in the back and made the burgers and other menu items. That means I worked close to the shelves of endless candy. I would sneak the occasional Reese’s Cup or Oreo. 😊

There are no DQs where we live and my husband loves Blizzards from visiting America. For his birthday last month I made him a cheesecake with chocolate chips, bought a jar of strawberry jam (with fruit), and took him to McDonalds. We ordered a McFlurry plain and mixed it right there. It was a pretty good fake DQ Blizzard. His favorite is called Strawberry Cheesequake with actual strawberries. The pieces of cheesecake and the pieces of graham cracker crust are so good. When I was a kid I always ordered MnM and Oreo Blizzards, mixed. Nothing comes close to the cheesecake. My husband owns 2 DQ hoodies and no one knows what that is here *lol* Anyway, viewers, if you don't have DQ in your country and you want to try a blizzard, you can do it yourself if you have any place that has soft serve.

As a child from a large family we did not get desert very often. But when it was time for school physicals we all had them and then we went to Dairy Queen right across the parking lot from our Doctor's office, this was before blizzards, so it was a dipped cone or dilly bar but it was a treat like no other, because it was not everyday we could enjoy desert.

Oreo is my favorite. When they make your blizzard and deliver it to your table they hold it upsidedown to prove its thick. Sooooo good. After that is the Peanut buster parfait at DQ. There burger lunch meals are usually a great deal and come with a chocolate sunday.

My first memory of DQ is the tacos! Of course this was in the 70s before they started making blizzards! I still kind of like the tacos. The last time I went to DQ, we got a ice cream cone and the ice cream was watered or milked down or something! Y'all stay safe from Texas!

@@neoncatfish4038 Oh. Okay. I guess I could see tacos at a DQ in Texas. lol. I've never seen them on the menu here in Georgia. It's always been about burgers, hot dogs, and ice cream here. I love DQ blizzards! Once, when on active duty in the Army, we were in the field in Central Texas. Every small town had a DQ, and it seemed every DQ had a line of Army vehicles in the drive-thru ordering treats. And it truly was a treat atypical of an Army field exercise!

I worked for Dairy Queen for a handful of months one summer, and can confirm the flip rule: if you fail to flip the Blizzard upside-down when serving it (to show how thick it is), and the customer calls you out on it, they get a coupon. So Atlanta was right! Also, Denzel is lucky: S'mores is a seasonal flavor, and in my opinion is it *the best one* ever! It's made with this kind of graham cracker crumb / butter mixture that's *delicious,* along with small chocolate pieces that are each filled with marshmallow. At the store I worked at, the owner of that franchise location let us take any food or ice cream we wanted for free on our lunch break (within reason), so I used to grab a hot dog, and then make myself a s'mores Blizzard without the extra marshmallow fluff (which I thought was a bit too sweet), and effectively eat that for lunch every day I worked 😂 A nice thing about Dairy Queen that a lot of people don't know: it's not real ice cream. It's not even technically frozen yogurt. It's 97% fat-free "frozen dairy treat". So while it's not healthy -- there's still a ton of sugar -- you at least don't have to worry about it being fatty 😁

My favorite is the Hawaiian Blizzard with banana, pineapple & strawberries and the chocolate dip blenderized together. The chocolate dip becomes crunchy pieces of cold hardened chocolate. YUMMO! Its not on their menu anymore but they will make it to order. EDIT: and I am from Minnesota where Dairy Queen started & is home to it's International headquarters. On a flight back to Minneapolis in the early 1980's I remember sitting in front of a guy on a plane who worked for DQ talking about this great new ice cream treat they were developing and, low and behold, it was the Blizzard.
