All through Basic, in the morning assembly, the Senior DI always referred to us in some deprecating way, with Ladies being one of the milder expressions. On the last day he said "Good Morning Marines'. We cheered like we had just won the World Series and the World Cup at the same time.

My Uncle Winfred was a Marine in World War II. There was a rich kid in Boot Camp who got tired of carrying his rifle and threw it away. (Probably not the Crucible.) The sergeant said nothing till they got back to the barracks. He called the guy front and center. "Where's your rifle?" "I threw it away. I'll buy another one" "I don't want another one! I want the one that was issued to you! You and me are just going to have to go back and find it! The rest of you guys, fall out!"

I remember arriving at the USO at the San Diego International Airport on Oct 2001, then a bus arrived and I got screamed at for the next 3 months by what seemed like sadists at the time while being forced to live with 96 other miserable human beings and we all seemed to hate each other right out of the gate, but when I was handed my EGA at the end of the Crucible and I got to go to the warriors breakfast, I had never been more proud of myself in my entire life and I saw all of my fellow recruits as close friends, if not brothers.

So crazy being the one holding it down at home. You feel like you are going through it since they are so far away and you are used to them being home, but you are nowhere close to the agony they are all going through. All you can do is stay positive & pray! :) hopefully I’ll get to see him after MCT since they aren’t allowing us to go to graduation 😊 so proud of him and so thankful for every sacrifice our military men, women & families make. @@robturney6325Hi Rob! So yea, it used to be like that but because of COVID families are not able to go to graduation/family day and the new marines are put on a bus the day after graduation to Jacksonville for MCT. After MCT they are allowed to ask for their 10 days off and/or recruiters assistance! My husband plans on doing that, but from what we were told they aren’t letting them do too much in fear of them catching COVID and then taking it to MOS school. Some were absolutly unreal, like a Marine getting big part of his jaw shot off and continued on to clear 2 more enemy positions. We were also taught to jump on a grenade to same everyone around us.

A lot has changed, it wasn’t called the crucible in 84 & each recruit had a shelter half, (half a tent) that was made into a tent when you paired up with another recruit. The complete tent barely fit two people lying prone. We had to sleep with our M16’s & the DI’s would attempt to steal the M16’s at night. I slept on top of my M16 so when the DI’s tried to pull it out of the tent, the attempt moved my body as well & I woke up. We also had to dig fox holes with our E tools & prepare for an over night attack with tracer rounds going off & flares. We took turns watching the tree line so as not to get over run by the enemy. It was different than this, it felt like war. I think it lasted a week cause we had a long march out with about 80lbs on our back. These Recruits had less because they stayed in already built structures. Training with females was not done, we couldn’t even look at them if we crossed paths. Glad to know they don’t share barracks. I served in the Army as well & male & female recruits were caught having sex in crazy places. A male Drill Sgt also attempted to rape a recruit who later became my wife. Marines still get more right than wrong. That’s a good thing.

that saying is a US Naval SOCOM saying we all learned LONG ago... “The more we sweat in times of peace, the less we bleed in times of war”... it was a common taught training motivator for all naval socom operations.. Naval Intelligence, Navy SEALs, Navy SARCs, Marine force RECON, Marine Raiders “MARSOC”... all naval specops... which it has always amazed me the number of people that do not know the marines are part of the navy... i have even met marines that did not know they were really in the navy.. when i was naval intelligence i had an argument with a marine at camp pendleton in san diego about it and i told him “next payday look who pays u then talk to me”.. next payday he told me “fuck you”... lol cause it said “department of the navy” for who paid him... i just laughed at him haha

They seem WAAAAY nicer now a days! Nobody even got hit by the drill instructor. And for the Crucible... It was definitely longer than 54 hours and only 8 hours of sleep total for all 3 days. Also we only got 3 MREs.. not 5. And just to make it more fun.. our packs were 80+ lbs... I hate to sound like that guy.. but I think think is a very watered down version of what is expected and I wish they would tell the truth even though cameras are present.

I was a U.S. Marine I was a SMAW Gunner which stands for shoulder fired multipurpose assault weapon. We fired HEAA rounds which are high explosive anti armor rounds and they can penetrate up to 24 inches of homogeneous steel. In my picture you can see a rocket on my back and I have another one on the other side . I was in Macedonia waiting to go into Kosovo to get rid of that fahq Slobodan Milosevic . I was in before the Crucible but training was almost just as tough. If you ever want to talk about militaries and stuff like that I'm huge into it. I love history of wars and I'm very scared of what might happen in the near future with the threat of China North Korea and Russia not to mention Iran lurking. These countries are all corrupt and evil as fahq! I absolutely love your videos keep up the great work and it's crazy The United states military just nuts!

Weird perspective after the fact to hear "5 MRE's in 2.5 days" and "3-4 hours of sleep" and think that sounds easy... But I remember it being harder than hell. As a marine who served in the infantry.... integration between infantry jobs is very dangerous and damaging to both parties and not good for combat effectiveness. Do i think some female marines can do the job on equal standards... absolutely, ive seen it myself. Unfortunately women arent held to the same physical standers and that alone risks lives in combat... im a short guy myself and have had to drag and carry guys twice my size and weight during casualty drills, you dont get to choose who goes down in combat and if you cant physically get someone off the X by dragging or carrying them you have no business in combat. Even for the women who can do things on the same standards still are far more likely to receive injuries due to the amount of weight infantryman have to always carry. A full combat loadout is much more weight than most think... let alone hiking miles with 90 lbs packs. Ive seen the shit myself, female marines with stress fractures just from hiking with all the weight... women biologically have less bone density and wider hips designed for reproduction while men have a higher bone density and hip structures that are designed more to carry weight. Not only that, there is also a very big hygiene issue... no fault of their own but women are much more likely to contract things like UTIs which can cause a lot of problems. Sometimes you have to stay in wet and dirty conditions for weeks at a time and only have baby wipes to clean yourself. Then you have the sadder part of it with higher risk of sexual assault or promiscuity within a unit. You see it all the time with non-infantry jobs where male and female marines are in the same unit.... and the other fact that marines drink a lot doesnt make the situation any better. Its the facts of the situation and just doing it because it sounds "inclusive" doesnt do shit but put more lives in danger.... including the lives of female marines too. This PC and inclusiveness bullshit has got to get the fuck out of the military.... it has no place there because the military is based on the real world and facts and reality... not peoples personal "truths". The Taliban or whoever the enemy is doesnt give a fuck if we have integrated and inclusive units, they are still going to try to kill you just the same. We need to focus on fighting and winning battles instead of which fucking bathroom marines can use. I dont give a fuck who you are, what you look like, or what your religion is.... you need to be able to do the job effectively and efficiently and be able to have the back of the marine to the left and right of you because end of the day that person is the only one who will be able to protect your life and you are the only one who can protect theirs. If any of this shit was truly about equality and saying women can do anything the men can in the same exact way... then there wouldn't be separate physical standards for women to join the military... just think about that. Im not saying some cant do the job, im just saying it isnt safe and increases a lot of risks.

Why the hell are you championing this? Fucking horrible decision not based on factual metrics or reality at all.

The funny part is go ask an older Marine about their basic experience. They'll tell you this is easier than it used to be. Granted, this is on camera....

All respect to the women marines honorably serving our country, but the fact is the crucible was much more difficult when it was men only. They noticeably lowered the physical standards.

Our recruiters are saying people have had a hard time with the 2 week quarantine. Once they get past that they tend to do pretty well. (From what I've heard. Marines)

@@CourtneyCoulston she's good now she finished her quarantine a few days ago, but I think she actually just got dropped right back into training so in a way she actually skipped training which sounds like a cheat code to me lol

Hey Courtney .... since you enjoy military things, your man is a Marine and you've started reviewing some movies ...... You might want to watch the 1957 movie "Heaven Knows Mr. Allison" staring Robert Mitchum and Deborah Kerr. It is my alltime favorite "war movie"and is available(rent or buy) on you tube ...... keep up the good work ...... just sayin' JRW E-5 USMC '63-'67 ................
