Marvel at the stunning scenery, beautiful photography and amazing aerial views as we follow a group walking one of the most famous hiking trails in the world in this 18 minute documentary.
uuuff two years ago I was in New Zealand and I cried with emotion for that wonderful land, great experience and thanks for a good introduction for those who visit it next time, I hope to return some year
What a wonderful video. So informative and such great footage. My daughter and I walked the track this summer and it was amazing. Your video brought the memories back. And amen on the comment that it’s not a race!!
This has been the far most spectacular video introducing Milford track and was of great help for a dreamer like me who wishes to visit there. Thank you so much for providing such an incredible film Graham!
This was wonderful to find. My mother worked on the track at Pompolona hut from 1966-72. Her name is Marlene..the creek was named after her. She was delighted to see your video.
Thank you very much for sharing your detailed itinerary and adventure. My husband and I are planning to hike there and your trip plan will help us a lot!
What a great film, I have watched this several times and am still amazed by the majestic beauty of the track, I will be tramping there myself in April 2016 and this film is by far the best on the internet I have seen. thank you for you efforts to edit and share your experience Graham & Teena.
A beautifully filmed, captivating and informative documentary. It really makes me want to go there. Thanks for the tips and the history lessons. My expensive Gortex failed me in New Zealand too.
Wow Graham, a spectacular film indeed, you should be proud. I'm heading to NZ in November and this has been on my bucket list for years so I can't wait! Thanks for sharing and keep up the ace work.
Awesome video. Thanks for the details and stunning shots at the pass. I lived abroad 4 years in Auckland, but never made it to any South Island hiking. I'll be back one day and this trek is on the bucket list. Thanks again.
Brilliant guys! We're going there next Sunday, so your packing list was a heads up, and the filming was sensational. Many thanks and all the best for your family's future adventures.
What a wonderful video. Thank you so much. I love the fact that you were quite happy to be the last to arrive for the duration of the walk and got rewarded with those brilliant views. Patience as they say... I will hike the Milford Sounds next summer. Your video has given me a good indication of what lies ahead. Once again thank you.
Thanks for the great video and commentary on your trip - stunning! I enjoyed your dry Kiwi humour, and I loved the closeups of the Weka chicks and the Kereru in particular. ❤️ I live in Rotorua and this walk is on my bucket list. 😊
Amazing video!!! Thank you so much for sharing it! It is not easy to carry all video equipment on such tracks. But you accepted that challenge and did great job!
Loved your video thanks so much. Great shots, great sense of humor, great people that I can relate to. Would love to see more of your treks. My only tiny thing, in my humble opinion, is the music was a tad loud. But, your excellent cinematography and wonderful sense of humour made up for it tenfold. Thanks for sharing.
I did this in 97". I did it about as slow as you did and I was 25. It is the way to do it because the sections are not long and if done quick you are just left sitting at huts. Way better to double or triple the walk times and stop to look at everything. If ever on the west coast I recommend "Welcome flat Hut ". cheap. only an overnight to main hut. it is down past the glaciers.
Beautiful video, so there really is no need for anyone else to make one. I am a New Zealander, born in NZ and the drones drive us mad. When we go on day walks we go for the natural environment, and for the peace, which we love to share with others. Glad you refer to the official DOC website, because there have been very recent changes to booking dates and charges due to so many tourists abusing these high profile tracks. Now, a lot of Kiwis keep off them, and use the lesser known tracks where there won’t be drones and toilet paper on the tracks which is just gross. We ask tourists to come, and please have respect and good manners.
great movie, thanks a lot for sharing - i've been to new zealand, but haven't done any of the big tracks...i do honestly regret this by now...looks like quiet a nice thing to do :)
Great video, Graham, Tina and Paul! I really enjoyed your informative commentary day by day together with stunning shots (especially those made with drone - great idea)! It almost put me on the track and made me cry - as it recalls back the memories of my bicycle tour around New Zealand and few tracks I've made there (well, only Kepler Track and Tongariro Crossing of the Great Walks - and it was a big mistake to make only these two!) Your close ups of inquisitive birds, ferns and moss covered trees, everchanging and challenging NZ weather and nasty sandflies - excellent and so true! I wish to get back again... I just wonder if you have only this one travel experience video online? Looks like you are very professional in filming and keen on hiking, so I would expect more stuff like this on your profile. Best wishes to Kiwi Land from Prague, Czech Republic Tom
I see they have enlarged the huts. In 1984 (when i did the walk when I was 35) there were only 24 beds for independent walkers. Still looks fabulous. The walk down from MacKinnon's pass was the hardest. On the last day we had over 24 inches of rain.
Better by far than any proprietary insect repellent is one you can make quite easily by yourself. It is a 50/50 mixture of Olive Oil and "Dettol" (a popular antiseptic solution). It may smell a bit awful, but so do many of the proprietary solutions, and if you happen to scratch yourself, the dettol's antiseptic properties will be appreciated. Also, the olive oil is good for the skin. Just shake up the mixture before each application, as it will separate. Then smear over most of the exposed surfaces -- and if you miss some, it won't matter. As with all anti-insect preparations -- do not get any in your eyes. I learnt about this many years ago before walking the Track -- and had enough time to go to the grocery shop and get a small bottle each of olive oil and dettol, then to the pharmacy for a spare bottle, then mix some. Easy, and it worked a treat! Even while sitting still it kept the mosquitoes -- those awful, dreaded, otherwise voracious, Milford Track mosquitoes, at bay. I enjoyed my walk without being bitten.
Inspirational trail. We've heard of Milford Sound of course but to see it in this way from the trail perspective is invigorating and enticing. I think the temperate rain forest would have been one of the highlights for me. Brilliantly filmed. ATB. Mark (Wye Explorer) England.
If you want to John you will and I hope you do. I thought the same. If I get the chance financially (and that's all that is getting in the way) I'd be off over there....you also no doubt!
Great video. Really informative, and some beautiful footage. Looks like a pretty spectacular walk. I'll be in New Zealand next week, making my own travel videos, armed with a GH5, gimbal, and a drone. Is the walk possible (and worthwhile) during winter?
I have a little stain on my forehead like the map of New Zealand Divine land New Zealand Incredibly beautiful nature Here I will live next time maybe in the next life
