Cuddy is an ideal boss. She knows all the minor details about how her hospital is run, and while it looks like her being a micromanaging jerk any other time, her knowing the number of towels that should be in each room was crucial, it literally saved that baby’s life.

I heard a story like this when I worked at a hospital in California. I asked the CNA why house keeping didn’t strip the bed and she said it’s because I mom left her baby on the bed to use the bathroom. Instead of the house keeping checking or the mom putting the kid back in the crib the baby was dumped in the linen cart in the process.

Kinda felt her when she said “what if I never love walker like I would with my baby” something like that. I have a 5 year old bonus son, and a 2 year old bio son. I feared this. I love them both but it’s different in some ways. With my bio son, I held him in my stomach. Birthed him. Bathed with him, breastfed him. All things I didn’t and can’t/won’t do with my bonus. I missed that because he isn’t biologically mine. I have a bond with my bio that is different, but not more than my bonus. It’s the same love but a different love. I wouldn’t chose to save one or the other. I’d still die trying to save both. Because he is still my son regardless we didn’t have the baby maternal love. I wasn’t there for his first steps. But I was there to potty train, teach him to talk, first day of school, first friend, first movies. And we will still have many firsts.

She was having a complex pilomotor seizure. They’re extremely rare, most doctors might not even catch it. In layman’s terms, it basically encompasses the saying “the lights are on but nobody’s home.” They can happen to people who drive long distances along the same route, where they’ll remember starting the drive and ending it, but virtually nothing in between. Ultimately it’s said to be due to a lesion on the temporal lobe (the part of your brain right over and behind your ears), and like I mentioned, they’re super duper rare and part of a condition called temporal lobe epilepsy.

@@TimberlakeTigerGirlRespectfully, all siblings are mean to each other, but when you add the layer of one child being favored over the other OF COURSE the less favored child is going to resent the other. Children don't know how to be the bigger person. They don't have the emotional capacity to think "The way my parents are treating me is on them, not my brother". All that child sees is that her parents don't love her as much as her brother. In a kid's mind, the logical solution is that if her brother wasn't there her parents would love her.

I stopped playing with them because every time I did I got into trouble with my parents, and when they tried to play with me I rejected them. I stop letting them hang out with me and I stopped sharing my toys. It's not a child's job to view this situation from a logical perspective and treat the favorite sibling as an equal. Because of the rate of fake nurses kidnapping newborns, they've redesigned the system to where the alarm goes off if a newborn is taken out of their mother's room without an authorized nurse clearing them. Hospitals have been ramping up security for the maternity ward to where nobody gets in or out without security seeing them. They'll usually stand guard at elevator entrances and at the entrance/exits to the maternity center. And at the slightest hint of suspicion, the guards can detain a person for questioning. May seem like a violation of rights, but when it comes to the safety and well-being of newborns and their mothers, hospitals ain't playing.

If she was in charge of laundry, she possibly put it in the cart as she was “on autopilot”. I’m not sure how these seizures work, though.

@@ew6483 I have this type of seizure. And when Cuddy said "autopilot." She meant only the core function of her brain is working during these seizures. Bc during this type of seizure the main brain functions is being shut down, but the cores still work. Unlike in a Gal-Mal seizure(which I had while I was a teenager) all of the brain shut down.

I’m sorry but some people are justifying losing a baby in bedding changing irl without any medical issues due to being on “autopilot”. Even if you’re on autopilot in any ward with babies you should be mindful no matter how many times you’ve done the same action. This has happened more then once irl ( if you want sources just read the posts here because I’ve found 3 in 2 minutes of family members having this happen). There is probably a procedure of checking the bedding before removing it because if they didn’t notice then allot more stuff would randomly go missing when someone goes to the bathroom or leaves for exams. It would’ve been obvious that someone is occupying the room by just looking at surroundings and seeing a bag in the room etc. You can’t say oh but they’re working on autopilot because even on autopilot the brain can adapt to it’s surroundings. Seriously when there is clearly a baby on bed then just remove the bedding without noticing sounds of the baby the sudden increase of weight of the laundry which should alert you something is in the bedding you’re changing (Like doing the laundry and noticing that my comforter sheets weigh more on one end so some laundry got stuck in it). Then also missing any signs of movement in the bedding then something is clearly wrong on the end of the person changing the bedding. If it’s because of a burn-out and not even noticing these things anymore, a neurological problem or just blatant disregard due to wanting to do it quickly so you can move on. If it’s the hospitals fault due to overworking staff then they’re at fault. The point is in the end someone is to blame here and unfortunately most of the time it’s just blatant disregard on the cleaners side due to “working on auto pilot” and not even putting in the effort of looking at what you’re doing but probably concentrating on music or a convo they’re having. The parents are generous not to sue the hospital if it’s not due to a medical condition like this clip. You could’ve just as wel asked a soldier to dismantle and assemble a rifle some many times it becomes said autopilot but they’re still trained to carefully check the riffle while assembling because if they blindly trust that autopilot every time one day that rifle is going to jam or worse blow up in his face. And every time it would be his own fault for not watching out when doing his job. It might be different professions but there are lives on the line in both cases

She was having a seizure and probably her first one as cuddy didn't know one of her doctors had the problem until she checked her and she knows the amount of towels are in each room, so she didn't know to watch out for it or that it was possible or they wouldn't assign her to this job/ward when a person has a seizure they are non conscious so no way to prevent this as no way to know this is even a worry to begin with. Before running typing a biography on you own stupidity maybe figure out the information you are so blatantly ignoring.

is that a real thing?? they put like microchip ink tags on babies??
@TimberlakeTigerGirl
@TimberlakeTigerGirl 27 дней назад
Yes. Because of an alarming rate of people, mostly women, posing as nurses to kidnap babies. They put microchips on the babies bracelet so that the second someone tries to run through an exist with a baby, the alarms will be tripped. Which will automatically alert staff, security and even police of a kidnapping attempt of a newborn.

Her being able to ask this rather then just assume one thing or another proves she worries over him, meaning she will pay attention and try not to do so and that is a lot better then your mother. Nothing against her but their is literal animals that have adopted and shown more concern for the non biological child then it sounds like your mother would, so it can't be explained as instinct it is just she is a possessive type and it is hard to feel possessive over something not originated from her. Sorry if offended just stating my opinion on this.

She could potentially not even know, and this is her first one. She could have come down with something that started it, you have no way to know if she even knew she had this problem when she became a nurse in the first place so yes she should not be a nurse but also say it with a less self righteous tone and more of one with worry for her as she just spent however long to become a nurse only to lose the job because a sudden onslaught of unknown problem.
