This feels like a step down, what is it with us and Burnley keepers, we need someone good with their feet at the back, you will not get that for 15m, we need to looking up not down, very disappointing. Howe is awful in the transfer market. He mainly targets average British players. He wanted to sign Kalvin Phillips, Phillip Billing and Solanke in January. He messes us up with ffp and sacrifices quality black players to get us out of the mess. Horrible prejudice bloke.

Trafford has potential but as stated he is still an unknown quantity due to who he played for last season. If Pope can do a season with no injuries he could easily get double fingers of clean sheets but time will tell.
I remember when we signed a 21 year old reserve keeper from Blackburn Rovers. His name was Shay Given. When we bought him he was less established in the PL than Trafford is. For a 21 year old to have almost a full season under his belt in the PL already is very rare for a keeper. His distribution is excellent, he’s 6’4”. He will come good. A year to be Pope’s understudy then he’s our starter and England’s starter for the next 10 years. The Georgian keeper is very similar to Pope. Imposing and a good shot stopper…but he’s shite on the ball! Trafford all the way for me!

@@drewsharratt564 I can’t get my head around the fact you want to blow our budget on 2 goalkeepers when we have a major issue at RW - I don’t want us to sign a single goalkeeper, I’m so bored of signing goalkeepers. Howe has had 5 transfer windows and this will be his 3rd goalkeeper he’s signed. It’s bizzare. His obsession with goalkeepers, English players and injury prone players is massively holding us back. He refuses to upgrade Almiron but will waste money on goalkeepers.
Mamardashvili was always going to be hard to get as Athletico Madrid have been in the hunt with us for the last few weeks and IMHO I think he will go there as they can offer CL. Ramsdale is a no for me. Trafford is hard to judge lots of potential but was in a poor team. Other clubs Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also looking at him so must be something. We are constricted by PSR and I think hes a better buy than Ramsdale and can improve much more than Ramsdale so could be an astute buy. If we cannot get Mamardashvili then yes to Trafford.
Newcastle seem to be doing the same thing as last season, buying players that arent even going to start. If this is Howe's idea then he needs a wake up call, another top 4 finish is lioking much less likely
I just hate to see us raiding relegated clubs thought that would be a thing of the past, and thats not to say i thought we'd be splashing big money on every player i at least thought we would look at other leagus mid to top contenders and try to poach their players.

Unless they put the bid in now and only sign the contract after the 30th. They just need to have balanced the books by the 30th. After that they can spend again
@@TheMagpieChannelTV well all player contracts seem to commence on 1st July and end on 30th June. I’m assuming they’ll sign the deal then it all becomes official as of 1st July. Makes no sense to start paying the salary of a player who can’t start work for us until July anyways

Big plus to a Traf you wont need a language coach day one. But hes too young to boss a Jamal A Keeper like Pope has respect with age and international status as a three lions. Well this is all very underwhelming so far, a free transfer from Bournemouth and a keeper that got dropped from a relegated club. We need to move on more players, wtf is Longstaff still doing at the club, so many players that are crap still at the club. Problem is we are not in Europe and Eddy is not good enough or well known enough to attract players to play for him. The only thing we have to attract top level players is money, and thanks to the bs ffp that will be a struggle.
