Newcastle have set the record this season for the most days missed through injury since the premier league began, there has literally been no club in the history of the competition with a worse injury crisis, and to be pushing the top 6 potentially 4th if results go in favour, it's honestly astounding what eddie howe has done this season. edit: to the people trying to clown on my comment saying 'they'll ever get 4th lol' I never said it would happen, I simply stated that with the way things are right now, it's a mathematical possibility and if momentum and results go in favour, it's highly likely to happen.
Sky put a stat out saying Newcastle have had the worst injuries since PL began and no other team has had this many injuries ever. For them to still be competing for Europe is a miracle! To be fair looking at Spurs next fixtures, I wouldn’t be surprised if newcastle over took them. Look at Spurs and Newcastles next fixtures. Love to see Newcastle and Villa breaking up the “big 6”
cuz it a very bad result with Newcastles injuries, same thing with Liverpool, losing 3-0 at home to a mid table Italian team isn’t very good for the most successful club in England
People like to skirt over it though and it's a huge factor. United have never played with such a depleted team throughout a season. ETH outers conveniently forget that and ignore how good we are when we have a team close to what ETH wants.
It's the reason he says Newcastle have players that work hard😂😂 then he will say United don't have players that will do the same and ignoring tactics and management
.. That's Recruitment! Newcastle have good, physical players with technical ability and great mentality. Seen it numerous times this season when the chips have apparently been down due to injuries. The squad turns up when needed. They were always going to exploit that high line Spurs like to play.
When i saw that back 4 we put out i feared the worst but how had an excellent game plan. He wont get any praise from the usual but the turning point in our last few game and was great today was Elliot Anderson
Brilliant analysis Mark. Outstanding game to watch - frightening how good Newcastle could have been without horrendous and unrelenting injuries... To be fair to Spurs - Richarleson seemed to have hit good form - so probably missing him as a central strong forward...
Tragic season, honestly. It's almost a miracle how we are even top 6-7 even that kind of injuries and all kind of issues this season. I wouldn't blame if they ended with 10th Or something. Even our 18 year old backup midfielder is down from injury. The newcastle recipe is play 1 game = get three injuries and repeat that several times over, the ones that recovers replace the newly injured ones. This season is so cursed, unbelievable so . Correct me if I am wrong but was murphy (right wing/attacker) playing in right back ? Lol. Harvey barnes and elliot Anderson coming back from injury really changed the game for nufc. There is actually lively legs there instead of just Gordon emptying his tank .
I would rather be be losing 4-0 with a style of play rather than be like United, who play have no style of play and still get stuffed. At least people can see what ange is trying to build.
Too optimistic, we are still injury ridden and there is back to back games. With almost most of the bench useless . Murphy is playing left back, that's already telling of the poor shape we are in. Manu has better fixture, better everything in their favour. Although manu is terrible and only top ten material atm (in performance) , u can't really expect them to lose to the likes of sheffield and burnley. I think I'm content with nufc with this disastrous season. Reaching here is an over achievement of it's own with the setbacks and lack of players. Srsly why is like every game giving so many injuries. What are nufc feeding it's players to be that injury prone, a truly unending pile of injuries.I'm sure fabian schar is the only player who hasn't injured yet
As much as i love ange as a coach and what he's done for tottenham, if a team is clinical and play smart against us they are going to win, and weve seen it in todays game, seen it against wolves, fulham, chelsea.
Tottenham are only in 5th because NUFC and Utd have been decimated by injuries. Same with Villa. But then NUFC and Utd managed top 4 last year because Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea had a down season/fell off. Swings and roundabouts
Are you on meth or smth? Like we didn't have injuries? Like we didn't lose Madisson, Van de Ven, Romero and Porro for weeks? Had they not been injured, we would be atleast 5 points ahead of where we are right now.
@@arpitsrivastava6937 as a neutral to all teams mentioned, Spurs’ injury list has paled in comparison. Kudus to Spurs and their improvement this year, hopefully Ange ball hasn’t already been found out for their sake…
@@uniq6998 absolutely but had Liverpool not have suddenly dropped off even it would have been fifth and still a brilliant season. It would’ve then been more disappointing to finish behind Utd that year given their inconsistency and general poor play and scrappy results.
As spurs fan since 2019, totally agree. One-dimensional and fragile football. There is not enough players for such type of playstyle. We need Rasmus and Kobbie))
Why? Newcastle have had far worse injuries this season and still smashed Villa home & away + we couldn't rest anyone in CL matches because the opposition was so elite & tough too.
@@DarkArterialGore Villa are better overall in my opinion over a 38 game season. They just have a better manager and are slightly more adaptable which when spread across a season would see them pull away from both teams.
More adaptable, yes but nufc is better. Nufc were knackeree by recurring and repetitive injuries from the start of the season and even till now.except from fabian schar, everyone been injured .nufc been playing the right winger as right back . The injury rate is actually really crazy,u need to check it out. The squad gets injured like every game.everyones dropping like flies fr.theres just something wrong with nufc injuries, seems so unnatural. Must say that having barnes and anderson really made a difference...even with all that, they are performing well and was performing well even in the early season all things considered . Aston villa on the other hand didnt perform as well as they had in the first half of prem@@dannybradley8391
You know what. For me that was payback for the game down at their place. That day we couldn't get hold of the ball. Couldn't get close to their players. The system they played that day with Udogie and Porro playing the inverted full back and overloading our midfield 3. It killed us and made us look really bad. That one hurt to watch. Today levelled the score for me and it was nice to keep another clean sheet. Oh and Isak is totally the most complete striker in the premier league right now.
They struggling because it’s a process and this kinda of results will happen in the first season of a new manager, but as a spurs fan bring on the big games
Isn't 5th place enough for champions league football though? Tbh their results don't matter that much now, they're not in a title race but have pretty much secured top 5.
I think it's interesting how Ange only plays one way and says he'll die on that hill. "one dimensional" perfectly summarizes that. wonder what goes through his head after a performance like this.
Newcastle should have fininished 6th comfortably this season. All they had to do was to FORGET about competing in the champions league earlier this season. That's what derailed their season. They were in a tough group of seasoned campaigners. Should have just FOCUSED on the league
We just cant play with only one gameplan if we want CL. Ange gets his flowers for style of football but since our players got back from injuries i cant remember we destroyed someone for major part of the game (except Villa). Manager will definitely need to have some sort of plan B for next game, Arsenal will sit down and wait and probably do more damage than Newcastle today
Postecoglou is likeable and his tactical approach has rejuvenated Spurs fans' love of the game... but his record against the bigger teams is pretty poor.. no real surprise here... no worries Levy will be looking for a replacement but after a full season, big Ange needs to have a rethink in the summer to figure out what he's doing wrong
