Our transfer window has been poorly planned, poorly executed and just a complete shambles, that is me being nice, I hope they can pull a unicorn out of their arse today.
Because we are being deliberately held bavk via 'THE RULES' maybe a large shiny new stadium on the hill to generate revenue to actually build the team would help 😂😂 I can hear the trads weeping and wailing right now 😊😊
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. We'll finish mid table if we're lucky. Goodbye Bruno, Isak, Gordon, Livramento, Botman next season. We're a laughing stock thanks to Parish.
It's really difficult to judge - if they had moved to the second - third - fourth choices and it turned out we signed a 35 - 40 million flop then they would also have been slated for that - and we would have PSR hit meaning we'd be stuck with that flop in that position for years. This window has been really disappointing - but the transfer record since the takeover is good - players we have signed have been good buys - and we have had better value for money than most teams - so is it better to do nothing in this window than buy a player who isnt good for the long term ? Also - what players have changed club this window do people think we should have signed to strengthen our starting 11. Olise is the main one I can think of - and we were never going to get him once a club like Bayern came in for him. It's fine acting like its a video game and saying we should have signed this or that player - but if they didnt move club this window - they may just not have been for sale, like Bruno and Isak were not for sale no matter how many articles linked them to liverpool city arsenal or whoever else
Cheers Rob. You are the best at being balanced and not click-baiting. I think Guehi was a great target and we can maybe try again in January or next summer as his contract will then be just 1 year. The key is to avoid buying players with +£60k weekly salary and who don't improve us. With our lower revenue then we have to have half the wage bill compared with the toxic 6.
We massively banked on Tosin Adebayro signing as CB then a RW would have been the priority. That doesn't however excuse chasing a player for 6 weeks who was never going to sign and bringing in nobody at all. Absolute Shite!
I share your frustration. There's something not right - is Howe taking the England job and the Saudis aren't investing because of that? How much of the Guéhi fiasco is Palace's fault and how much is pure guff on the side of Newcastle?
@@pedrostokoe1980 don’t think anything was confirmed. Howe was late for the press conference this morning and one of the journos ran with a story that he was in an emergency transfer meeting 😒
I really hope the club has a dynamic last minute recruitment strategy. A Blackadder style ‘cunning plan’. Let’s face it - the previous few months have been piss poor (and hardly the ‘transformative summer’ that was talked about).
This whole transfer window has been embarrassing. Signed no one of note, chased guehi for no reason at all. One god season at palace and good euro display in a bang average England team and they want 70 mil plus and we chased for 3 plus weeks. It's a joke. No decent right winger, no decent rcb. Eales and Mitchell have got a lot to answer for cos this has been handled so bad. Team will be lucky to get top 8
Any blaming PSR on no transfers this window is a load of crap. Darren Eales confirmed at the start of the summer that PSR will not be an issue this window. We have our year 1 losses of £70m removed from next year's PSR calculation so there was plenty of scope to spend big this window.
It's frustrating. But we can't be mugged off. Or buy a player who doesn't work out. I still think there might be a last minute signing, though. As that's how good negotiations work.
I think we have suffered in this window due to a massive power struggle at the club since Mitchell came. Before I go further, this is not Mitchell’s fault or Eddie’s, it is just one of those things. Howe is used to control when it comes to transfers, and Guehi is his one and ONLY target in defence. He is not interested in ‘alternative signings’ Because of a need to try and keep Howe happy, Mitchell has stayed at the table trying to get a deal for Guehi done when I think he would have walked away weeks ago if it was up to him. Palace know all of this struggle between Howe and Mitchell and have basically took the piss with it. They need to sit down and draw some lines in the sand (so to speak) so everyone knows where they stand with power at the club going forward.
I agree. Personally I would blame Howe because Mitchell and Eales should've sat Eddie down and just been blunt with him saying that this transfer is a massive risk and it'll mean he wouldn't be able to strengthen in other areas. It seems like Eddie has been stubborn on this transfer which confuses me because surely you would think if it doesn't happen you'd have to look at alternatives that would improve the squad and trust your scouting department that you could find a CB who's good enough to become elite.
Personally I'd have gome double or quits deals for outstanding youngsters Jarrad Braithwaite (Everton) & Jarrell Quansah (Liverpool) both may total around 90M which would have meant 20M more than they were ready to splash out on Guehi alone 😮 Those two ball playing CD can become legends on Tyneside even challenge on both wings Schar/Botman (backup) with Burn, Lascelles eventually being shown the exit door with our thanks and best regards. Jarrad and Jarrell have long careers ahead of them at the top levels so such a bold brash move would have been a STATEMENT OF INTENT Ah well maybe next window 🪟
Write off this season. No chance of Europe. Plenty of money for the summer of 2025, when Isak, Bruno, Tonali, Jolinton, Gordon and Botman give up on the ‘project’.
Its all gone to sh1t. Bye isak, bruno, botman and Gordon. You deserve a club that wants to compete. This club is in a mess. Absolute horrific standards from boadroom to pitch. Whoever is responsible should be fired immediately. If the PIF are board then they should go, if they are serious then fire who ever cocked this window up.
Might as well be PHIL Mitchell with way this window has played out!! £70mil to spend as that's what we've offered for Guehi! Could have signed a good CB and RW for that money like Thiaw or Tomori and Raphina or Ferran Torres or Chiesa for 12million 😮 Could have signed Madueke if havent wasted so much time on Guehi but not now after he scores hat trick last weekend. SHOCKING WINDOW!!!
Thiaw or Tomori or Raphina or Ferran Torres or Madueke - none of those players actually changed club this window - their clubs might have said no - or the prices quoted might have been too high - they may just not be for sale? Just because a name is written in a report somewhere doesnt mean we could actually have signed them, in the same way that just because there were reports linking Isak and Bruno to other clubs doesnt mean there was any chance we were going to sell
@davidspears8108 Barcelona will be desperate to sell, they have huge financial issues (apparently) and just signed Olmo so Raphina and Torres not going to start every week. Same for Chelsea they need to sell and probably would have sold Madueke before hat trick last week
The pool of players that would improve our first XI is fking gargantuan. Defence especially. And absolutely RW. And after watching Pope's kicking this season, should have gone for that Georgian guy who Liverpool snapped up. Not the dozen championship level keepers we did bring in
I think we are being very shrewd. Only being prepared to buy significant players who will transform the squad. Not just any old player to add numbers and please the fans who end up being mediocre and sold for a loss in two years time. Buy the very best. Be patient. If it means waiting till January, so be it. I trust the NUFC behind the scenes team. They have got it so right so far - Trippier, Guimares, Isak, Gordon, Tonali, Livramento, Barnes, Botman etc. Come on guys. Have faith in Eddie et al.
Hiya Rob, do you think Eddie Howe's tactics are stale? and predictable? do you think its time to bring a new Head Coach in, maybe Phil Mitchell as head coach and his brother Grant as his assistant, this is Choppy
A disappointing window, the squad is thread bare and we have injury prone players. Hopefully, we can keep them fit as will be a struggle to finish top six as it stands. The Guehi saga has been embarrassing and we have been seriously mugged off by Palace, we should have told Parish to F off a long time ago.
Should try and sign matts hummels on a free. Loads of experience and a world class defender. One year contract comes on when needed and look for a winger in January.
I suppose I'll have to be optimistic in the view of seeing how the cards fall until the January window. Perhaps things will work out and we'll all look back and say we were too pessimistic. Let us see how things go.
Considering the injuries we had last year, we scored goals !!, it was our defence that was problematic, no second goalie, make shift back line due to poor coverage in places!! You can see NUFC thoughts.
WTF is going to on with our club first we massively over spend on FFP -PSR. then Amanda & Merhdad leave now we spend a month wasting our time chasing a player that Palace won’t let go and still haven’t added a RW or a CB
PSR is becoming a excuses' these days for not spending. Other teams in the same situation as Newcastle have happily went and splashed the cash but Newcastle run the ow btw PSR is a problem. We have come out saying we want top 4 while running a transfer window not much better then the Ashley era its not acceptable.
RW- Bowen,Greenwood, Sancho,Raphinha, Gnabry CB- Milenkovic, Caliafuary, Schlotterberg etc Players were out there we did nothing but chase Calvet Luwin and Gaayi
Isak Gordon and Bruno won't sick around for another season without European football so Eddie will have to work miracles to get us top 6 this season otherwise it's back to square 1
Last time they got top 6 nufc didn’t buy enough players to rotate for champions league. That’s why NUFC are not playing in Europe this season and probably same again next. I think they will drop down the table this season. They’ve played 3 shit games out of 3 so far.
Cant stand some fans! Do you honestly think this man who cleared a bigger squad of players in Monaco & has contacts all over Europe is unable to release/recruit players?! It's challenging to balance PSR & Eddie...we finally got a renowned Sporting Director so let him work, he's been barely here for 6 months!
Top bloke on the job but needs more than 6 months to plan and execute a single transfer window. Get to f my friend. Anyone looking at this situation knows (Newcastle or not) that this has been nothing short of a disaster. Can’t stand the alleged fans that know nothing (you).
@@justinshipley6662 Go watch/read on the latest interview that has come out clarifying the situation...cant stand alleged fans that pretend to know everything (you). Fans like you get us into situations that Everton and Forest found themselves in
"Phil" Mitchell said in his first interview he will get us 2 world class signings he asnt even delivered one worst backroom signing for the club since Dennis wise.
The failure to make significant signings since the arrivals of Bruno, Botman, Isak, Barnes, Tonali was understandable. But since we sold Minteh and Anderson, we have no excuse for not signing players who would improve our team. Guehi was overpriced and I'm glad we didn't sign him. I just hope we don't use injuries as an excuse for not qualifying for Europe next season. The struggles against Southampton, Bournemouth and Forest are an indication of what we may get accustomed to.
It’s a bit too late to do anything - I can’t see a surprise signing today. So disappointing. Last year we were decimated with injuries and that could happen again and we need more capable players other than goalies!
The influence of amanda and mehrdad or lack of since their departure has been very notable I know it hasnt been long but at a crucial moment when snake boy finally left his garden and we got mitchell in but communication and the appearance that they are making good moves but wtf is going on wit goal keepers ruddy ffs dubs still here and not one rw even if young up and comin at 20m or so but chasing guehi for all this window for stupid money does not show the club is in control since they left
This window has been awful. Two gk that made no sense, Osula is one for future and a bit of a gamble, hall is not a new signing and Kelly was a no brainer as he was free. Club tried to hide the fact they only made 15mil for Anderson with some 'clever' accounting. Only positive is that we still have our big three in the club
Guaranteed this season! Injuries! No top 6 ! More away cup draws! Wilson to not play more than 12 games ! Var to screw us over and a big name to leave in January !
Honestly, this is wank. Elanga? He was underwhelming back in June as a makeshift PSR signing...Now? Absolute crap. He's no better than Murphy. And for £35m?! This is ridiculous.
This window has felt like the old days. Let's hope "Phil" Mitchell can do better in the next one. I hope Palace get relegated and have to sell Guehi for a pittance.
Will see tomorrow who's in and out l guess Newcastle keep it under there foot till last day ,they definitely need defensive at the back and a striker Isaac is not working well up front
It's all so frustrating, Rob. If nowt happens the club owes everybody an explanation. Let's hope a couple walk through the door, preferably a right sided centre half and a right winger?
"there's only a small crop of players that make us better". ........ eh hello Almiron and Murphy on the wing. Chiesa went to Liverpool for 10 million!!!!!!
Sorry to be negative but this sounds likee a load of nonsense to me. We shouldn't have even bought one John Ruddy and been locked in negotiations for weeks for a player thats worth half the bids? This is an embarrassment to be honest for PIF. Something is definitely wrong.
Name me 1 top player that we where chasing apart from Guehi we ended up weakening our team instead of strengthening it because look who we lost probably 2 of the best young talents in the country and 1 which was a right winger a position we are trying to fill the next big thing to come from Newcastle will be Eddie has left the club for the England job
You know how when Virgil van Dijk joined Liverpool along with Allison, they had a miraculous turnaround? That's what all this sign a keeper who's good with ball at feet and why Botman and Schar are the preferred current centre backs. Our pattern of play is getting stuck in own half and not allowing midfielders or Attackers including one of worlds best strikers Isak and one of best young wingers England has to offer, Anthony Gordon to play to their full potential. Put simply and to the point, if Newcastle don't sign anyone who's mainly a ball playing centre back then it's just gonna be a long season of watching games like the last 2, scraping draws against likes of Forest and Bournemouth.
Darren and Mitchell spent too much time promoting the Stack than on the transfer window, the club cannot charge top bucks for tickets, merchandise and even charge us to watch the pre season friendlies, we fans don't want to pay big bucks to watch some crap players and watch eddie mourn about injuries.
I have enough to listen to the right players bullshits. Is miggy or Murphy the right player than rayan cherki? Or D.burn craft lecelles right player than malick thiaw? 5 goalkeeper, another bullshits .. apart from the pope, rest of 4 goalkeepers are right players than mamadashvili or james Trafford.we are the only one know football???? Liverpool is stupid to sign frederico chiesa and mamadashvili. I hate when someone treat funs as idiot. Eddie howe is only genuis he thinks. But I am watching football more than his age.
Why is the rest of the top premier league teams signing lots of players?…why aren’t we? I think this is political ..I feel the powers that be don’t want to see Newcastle getting on moving forward….
What’s the odds of the pif ditching Newcastle all together now They know they can’t do anything with Newcastle. How long before they move on to another club. Ffs
Unlikely. PIF are investors. NUFC's value has tripled since the takeover. No reason for them to walk away. In addition, why would they be talking about writing a once-in-a-lifetime check (cheque) for a new stadium if they're looking for an exit?
@@justinshipley6662 You can't blame PIF for that. They obviously approved money for that as we big 60m+ for Guehi. That's 100% on the club transfer negotiators.
