Memories of better times under the late Sir Bobby Robson. Enjoy the goals from Newcastle's wins against Juventus at SJP and the famous last gasp victory at the De Kuip against Feyenoord.
I think this game is possibly the most excited I've ever been as a Newcastle fan. Losing the first 3 games, winning the next 2, then coming back in the last game, away, to qualify in the last minute!
I remember the whole pub (Brandling Arms, Gosforth) going crazy when Bellamy scored the winner in injury time. Drinks, chairs and tables everywhere. RIP Sir Bobby
i miss SIR BOBBY ROBSON DAYS. Seeing the likes of Shearer, Bellamy, speed, solano, dabizas, Given, Laurent Robert, olivier bernard, dyer, andy griffin ..... HOWAY THE LADS
I've probably watched this 20 or 30 times since the day but I still jump around like a lunatic when that goal goes in, good times, and many more to come
I went to Barcelona and Inter Milan...Very nice...Fat Freddie Shepherd reimbursed all the fans that went to Barcelona when It rained and the match got postponed to the next night...
That season was great for champions league entertainment, Newcastle coming back from the dead in grp stage 1, almost doing it again stage 2, man utd's battles against leverkusen and victories over juventus, juventus overcoming Barca, Inter battling against Valencia & both semi finals were of the highest quality for different reasons. Just a shame the final itself was a complete borefest with both teams afraid to have a go
Wow, i remember this game very well. I was 14 years old and my dad got tickets for my first CL match with feyenoord. At the 2-2 (at this point feyenoord would survive the poule and would end second if i remember correct) everything with black before my eyes and when i knew where is was again i was standing on my seat tearing my dads jacket apart, what an explosion... what a match. Respect to Newcastle from Rotterdam.
i was totally jumping around the room going mental when Bellamy put that one in... cracking nights!! hopefully get back to those sooner rather than later *fingers crossed*
Great match back then very surprising Newcastle, was a nice match and the 2-3 I can imagine how the Newcastle supporters would have felt :) Shame next season Newcastle will not be in the CL and maybe might miss out Uefa, Newcastle isn't what it used to be like against Feyenoord back then. I don't know how far Feyenoord is at the moment, all I hear is good things, from their most terrible season in history last season being 10th too a much more better saeson now being 2nd and CL ticket.
@procter866 Just seeing Bellamy playing for Liverpool on the TV earlier immediately got me thinking about this game and that second goal, so I did a trawl on RU-vid. I cannot believe it is nearly a decade ago now. Jon Champion was the commentator, one of his more excitable moments and with good reason!
Remember, we'd lost our first 3 champions league games, and were a laughing stock. Won our next 2, then came back to beat Feyenoord away, in the last minute. I still think we're the only team to lose 3 games in a group, and qualify
@rossyrosco im a Newcastle lad, but I'd have to say liverpool's comeback in 2005 may just have the edge on that one. Anyway, that dream is still alive this season, there is still a possibility of hearing that music at St James park next season (sorry mike, lol)
When Newcastle used to be the entertainers! Steve Bruce should watch this because the way they play now is an absolute disgrace. Season ticket holders shouldn’t renew! We need to end Ashley
@steve30toon Same here mate! Unfortunately i couldn't make it over to Feyenoord (typical eh!?). There's still marks on the ceiling at me Mam and Dad's house from this celebration !!
@NufcMart That's how much you know about Dutch football, totally nothing. Feyenoord hasn't reach the top since their Uefa Cup win in 2002 after that they lost all their top players, didn't surprise me Feyenoord lost, and nowadays both Newcastle and Feyenoord are shite. Top Dutch teams nowadays are Twente, PSV, Groningen and FC Utrecht. AZ might make a comeback but thats it. Ajax is shite this season aswell so far 2-0 raped by Madrid, 1-1 Milan and home utterly raped 1-2 by FC Utrecht.
