We’ll come to regret both of these sales. As long as he is handled well, Anderson will be an England regular and maybe captain. Even having talks with anyone about Gordon is insane. The last thing you want to do is unsettle him the way Eales unsettled players last January, especially if, as I hope, we have no intention of selling him. The sooner we get a DOF and develop a clear, long term buying and selling strategy, the better. At the moment, Eddie can’t plan for the future with any confidence.
The answer is Southgate’s penchant for playing his favourite. His arrogance blinkers him to what is actually needed at a given moment. He has been incredibly lucky to have so many gifted players to work with, however not to have won anything during his spell as head coach is down to his lack of strategical thinking, and refusal to love from plan A. He is playing 1990 style football while the players are playing fast one touch football at their clubs. I am a staunch England fan, and I agree it was with a sigh of relief that I celebrated the result. As for Eliot Anderson, In think it is a big mistake to sell him. One can only hope there is a buy back clause in the deal. It’s sad that the lad’s career will be played away from his home club.
What the heck is going on Lee ? In the past 24 hours, aside from avoiding PSR stuff, we’ve signed 2 sub-standard goalkeepers & announced Lewis Hall (which we knew was happening anyway). Unless we’re planning to loan out the Greek, sell Dubravka & Gillespie, this is just pouring money down the drain.
The bigger issue for me is that the club’s management seemed totally unprepared for this PSR nonsense. If they’re having to offer Gordon, to a competitor club, at the last minute…they don’t have this situation under control.
It is a shame to have to sell two young players with lots of potential, but 68M for the pair of them is pretty good business. I feel like Brighton and Forest have really saved us here.
My guess is that much of the Forest deal is smoke and mirrors to avoid the possibility of a points deduction. We can leverage based on that amount when it comes to buying players, but we will net nothing like the amounts being quoted as headline figures. These regulations are ruining the game. The prime aim of Academies is no longer to offer a route to the first team for promising youngsters. They are simply a way of raising money from home growns to leverage larger sums to pay for established players.
gutted think he will be awesome if he can avoid injuries this season. Wish him well, sadly he would have mostly been a sub even though he is good enough and versatile. The Gordon situation is very worrying. How is he going to feel about being touted around. Just not sure about this one now. Hope he stays, maybe this isn't over, may feel under valued now. Still want Wilson to stay not easy to replace. Tripps might be time but miggy dubs and targett first please. England pointless til hes gone for me. I will support but the tactics are awful, they are hard to watch. Team is all wrong.
On both fronts the blame sits firmly with management. NUFC Board and management want their hammers for allowing the club to be in this precarious position! On England Southgate just can’t make the right decisions at the right time! He waited far too long to make subs and we are very very fortunate to get through! Back to NUFC if you’re Gordon what are you thinking now that the club were prepared to let you go?
Anderson 44 games 0 goals 2 assists. Good luck to the lad though. Not bothered about minty. I never saw him play just heard good things like when Anthony got signed for man u. No prem experience. He's good ain't he 😂 As far as PSR ffp is concerned. Let's see if it's still in place this time next year. I very much doubt it.
We were stuck between a rock and a hard place unfortunately. I think minteh will turn out to be a fantastic player and we will regret selling him for sure, but I’m so glad we kept Gordon. As for Anderson I’m gutted, he has great feet and I thought this year he would really push on… but what can we do when nobody wants our other players.
Anderson was 3rd choice left midfield, we need to strengthen overall if we want to progress. The Isak/Gordon stories were last resort but also put out there to make us feel relieved it was just Minteh and Anderson to go
I dont think the owners can win either way with fans tbh , they needed to sell because they have invested so much in the squad since coming to the club so fans complain about selling but they also would of complained if the club didnt spend and show ambition . I agree probably could of been handled better but player trading is part of football and as much as i liked anderson i never seen him nailing down a starting place with the money we have been spending and minteh is a great piece of business by the club which is something it hasnt done for many years
When you tout your best players ( Gordon / Isak ) to other rival clubs it shows youre not serious about building a club that can win the PL or do well in europe .
You’re going on like we had options? We had to raise £60m before end of June or would have received a points deduction, so we had to sell. Minteh obvious and then it’s Anderson or Gordon. Anderson potential but not setting the world on fire. Only talking to Liverpool about Gordon as needed options on the table, as soon Anderson and Minteh deals were real that was the end of Gordon conversation.
Only the club know exactly who they were willing to go eg Gordon. Liverpool. Have every right to enquire about Gordon as Newcastle have about players from other clubs. We do not know if Newcastle were playing the game such as let’s see the colour of your money obviously Liverpool didn’t have the money or were wanting him on the cheap.
@@listey The club use local journalists like Craig Hope to put out smokescreen stories. Hope will do it because his job is to generate clicks; claiming Gordon will be sold will definitely achieve that.
Good business for the toon .Gordon going no where .papers stirring it as per usual .longstaff .miggy .to go plus fraser. Then bring in 3 or 4 quality .and upwards we go .
I think we need to see who we bring in and see the big picture before judging these two departures, End of the day perhaps both these players wanted out, its easy for us to assume they wanted to stay and thats all it is, our assumption, even Anderson is a local lad. Anderson is good enough for first team football which he wont be getting at Newcastle this coming season and wanted carrear progression, Minteh perhaps was thinking of issues beyond football such as immigration status etc, always more to consider than the 2d picture in from of us.
Slovakia didn't deserve anything. Imagine doing all the hard work and then leaving Bellingham of all people unmarked with seconds to go. Should have probably been double teaming him.
Gordon and Isak were never going. Thjs was a masterstoke to take the distraction away from the inflated sales of minteh and Andersen. The gordon story fizzled out sonquick and then 24hrs later Minteh is gone
Don’t worry, he’s in good hands, we’ll look after him for ya……for around £20mil as it ain’t £35mil, fiddling the books somehow, think we’ve had yer pants down……some of the money thrown around for players with half his talent is mad
