Basically, Mogwai held a meeting about what to do with the heroes, but he saw a glimpse of Macaque unleashing the chaos energy power for the first time by accident. Meaning he knows destiny is catching up... But he doesn't want his son to be involved in this...
Even though it has been centuries since he last saw his son...
Xiangliu was told to stay behind, though he could tell his master was not feeling ok...
Note: Yes, Xiangliu convinced his master to resurrect the Lady Bone Demon... though she was brought back by the chaos.
Mogwai did tell the group to not hurt Macaque... or he would end them himself...
