something i like abt newjeans is that they dont try too hard. for a lot of kpop groups theyre very strict to the kpop formula and newjeans go against it. they actually only trained for around 2 years as a group and their company didnt want them to be like the straight out the factory perfect girl group but told them they can grow in time as a group instead and we can certainly see that. they were perfect from debut and they get better and better every comeback.
NewJeans hit different… it’s easy to listen to, so groovy! No one thing to dislike. As I understand, there is no main dancer, main vocalist, visual… etc. Like LE SSERAFIM they are trying to change the industry and one of the thing they are not doing is the “positions” within the group. I personally find that inspiring. Also, their MV's storytelling is out of this world, there are very few groups that do it like they do! Loona or Billlie comes to mind. Anyways… liste to Hurt, is so good! Also you have to listen to Billlie :). See you around Pat!
Hi Pat. Love your reactions! This is the first girl group I've ever checked out & what had me coming back was the music which is incredible. They're so talented. Just a suggestion: before watching their more story-based MVs, remember to check out their first MV Attention (what a way to debut) & the MV Hurt (vocals on point). Watch the rest in order of release: Ditto A & B, OMG & then their latest MV Cool With You A & B. It will make more sense. Keep up the good work.
spot on with the training thing. to me the fact that these groups and soloists train for years is what makes kpop. they're training for a specific feel to them, not just some regular entertainer you know? you know damn well beyonce trained ALOT to have the talent she has but she wouldn't fit in with kpop because she isn't trained for that feel, if i'm making sense. i don't wanna call it highly manufactured because that sounds negative but it is true, everything is highly directed, it is a less organic form of entertainment i should say. it is also why it irks me when non korean fans call all korean music kpop, cause sorry but ash b or dpr and even CL now is not kpop. it's the training and the way kpop uses and smashes different genres together that make this genre what it is. but that's just my pov of kpop after being a long time fan. these idols audition and are even hand picked and scouted by companies, nothing about kpop is any easy natural flow, highly manufactured entertainment yk? do i love it? fck yea lmao my kpop playlist is as long as my western playlist, 800+ songs babiieeee!!!!
Ooh you should check out the Hype Boy member versions, I'm obsessed with those videos it's like a teen tv series and you see things you didn't notice on the first watch. If you do react to them you should start with the intro then it will show the order for each mv to watch (top left to bottom right). I doesn't necessarily have to be in the "correct" order bc its not really in sequence but just so it's easier to keep track.
I dont know how you do it pat, and wait to listen to a song, from the moment i heard new jeans ive been listening to every song on an almost daily basis, new jeans is truely the group to keep a look out for
Too bad you didn't start with the main "Hype Boy" MVs that has storylines. Theses performance and dance practice versions are awesome but I would leave them for dessert.
