Hi, Just discovered your channel on youtube, i watch your videos on tiktok when you are at work. fantastic work on the layouts, so do you make the layouts to sell on? im currently making my own TT120 scale layout, i have the track laid and platforms and station in place but im struggling to get started with the scenery, any tips or advice wpild be welcomed. How do you plan your scenery or do you just make it up as go along? and finally where do you normally advertise your layouts for sale? keep up the videos really enjoy them. 👍
Hi David,yes I used to make layouts to order,but it got to crazy was getting called all the time,,now I just make once a year to keep me going,no unless someone wants one making,I don’t mind I enjoy it. always have plenty of scenery materials in for when I want to start.as you hopefully can see I try to make them look nice and colourful and not to overcrowded with track and buildings.the scenery is the best part for me to try and be creative .if you are ballasting the track that easy enough don’t be scared of it,just keep the parts on the point work clear so they switch over easily 50/50 pva water.when track layed and building placed it the road system for me,and then the colours.don’t be shy to apply the colours on top of each other ,to me it doesn’t want to look to crisp.and it always looks different when it dries,and you have brushed of the mixture of colours to use again.Yeh been doing tik tok for a few months people seen to like them,all very embarrassing for me not used to filming myself. Not had a proper look at the new tt stuff,hope all this waffle help
@trotskis00layouts Thanks for the detailed reply, very much appreciated 👍. I think the layouts that you have done look fantastic, like you said full of colour and interest, that's what I plan for my layout to be like. I've got the track down and ballasted I'm just waiting for the rest of my buildings to arrive then I can get them situated. I particularly liked the layout you did with the water trough with the inlet pipe and outlet, I thought that looked very realistic. I will definitely give the clear PVA a go rather than the other water products that are available. Cheers and keep up the good work, 👍
@@davidrigby7984 yes that was a layout I made a couple of years ago,got the clear pva from the shop THE WORKS it was only a quid.have tt120 brought out a range of buildings in the same scale ,don’t know much about it.
@trotskis00layouts Yes hornby are doing all the buildings that they released in OO gauge, and the settle & carlise Station buildings. Unfortunately Metcalfe doesn't seem to be coming on board with it just yet, I would normally go for the metcalfe range because I enjoy making them. The hornby range are good quality solid items but you pay for it. up to now i have the station buildings and the engine shed, I have various other village buildings on pre order which are due shortly. With TT120 being a brand new scale for hornby, the releases are slow to come out at the moment. I have 2 sound fitted sets at the moment, The scotsman set and the Easterner set.
