I was in Jamaica and had planned to Parasail. A violent storm was coming. I canceled. The captain of the boat was ticked off bec he lost money. I told him to cancel our reservation and hung up in his face. He lost his damn mind. Folks look out for your own safety, please.
Good for you!!!!! We must protect ourselves. This is so terrifying especially because my husband is so adventurous I know he wants to take our sons on things like these. Ugh.
I’m so glad you did this! Usually on once of life time trips like this, you want to take everything in and kinda push caution to the wind. I’m so glad you listened to you gut instincts!!!!! 🙏 ❤
He didn't check the weather. He didn't have his radio on. His phone supposedly didn't work. He cut the line. And he didn't even bother to try to retrieve them? This sounds like premeditated murder.
Don’t be ridiculous! With a charge like that he will end up going free. In the real world, PROPER, PROVABLE charges are in order. This is a negligent manslaughter case, and 2 counts of negligence for the surviving boys.
I can't help but wonder that myself, that bye, bye just did not rest well with me. Maybe he had some sick compulsion to cut the line or to kill someone in the past and decided to set up a situation in which he could indulge it and not take a murder charge. At what point is there to much negligence to really be negligence unless he failed a sobriety test or blood work as well.
I think he was worried about them whipping around by the wind and being dragged and slammed along/against the water…That could cause serious damage, even death, but cutting the line is worse, because how the heck can you predict where they would land…..🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️….So tragic.
@@jenecossey5187 I'm glad he said that to expose himself cause if he was REALLY concerned for their safety, he would have informed them that the weather isn't ideal for this excursion and refuse entry...
Wait a minute, this SOB cut their only life line?!? And did not even attempt a rescue?!? I think a hefty punishment is in order. Pls don’t call this man “captain” he is not worthy of that title of distinction.
by saying “they should have known the weather isn’t good” as someone who’s never gone on a boat until recently (too poor to ever do any kinds of activities like this) it’s actually completely understandable when a tourist has no idea how the weather affects these activities it’s understandable that they put their trust into someone who said they knew what they were doing. So y’all are in fact blaming the victim. When it’s the man driving the boat who should be told that he should have known better than to take a family out in these conditions for a couple of bucks. Y’all are disgraceful. This man is a murderer and y’all have your priorities out of line blaming the family. Get a grip.
@@kanohane So you agree it’s the fault of the dead mother? So you agree with everything the captain said? I personally wouldn’t have done that in good or bad weather. But you sound like a heartless monster. You look like an evil person too. So I shouldn’t even be surprised. 🤷🏾♀️
I see so many people blaming this poor mom when they don’t realize she’s a tourist relying on the tourism industry presented to her. That industry is laden with a criminal element looking for them. Looking for a quick buck. And, I’m sorry to say, but after living there for many years - a lot of these ppl catering to tourists in small towns (like the Keyes) are of a criminal element and tourists should beware of locals that are “too friendly”. Please, if you travel in the USA to these places for play; do the Buddy System. It does save lives.
@@nonyabigness The Captain belongs in jail. But the mother is not without blame. Should not be taking her kid parasailing with some dirtbag sleazy boat operator. A case of wealthy people having too much money and too little common sense.
Wow, that is sick he even lied about calling the police. & it was soooo creepy how he said “Bye” to them it sounded so final as if he did it deliberately.
@@CrysP13 Imagine destroying your whole life because a human being has a different skin color from you. The poor woman and children. A little boy without his mother today because of racism.
The captain is 100% at fault here however, let this be a lesson to us as well. If we don't see that the weather conditions are suitable for such activities then don't place yourself in danger EVEN if the captain or tour guide says its OK. Seeing the video and how windy and cloudy it looked that day I personally wouldn't have gone through with it.
No it was the captain in charge, I came to see who would blame the victims. You guys never disappoint! That man was more concerned about his boat and never called for help. Y'all have his same mind set.
HERES WHAT CUTTING TOW LINE MEANS . First the number 1 rule in parasailing is never cut the tow line . When he cut it , the family dragged for a mile on the water and hit a bridge and lady died. Had he not cut the line , eventually they would of landed down and easily rescued . But this captain thought he had to cut the line because the 🪂 was some how endangering him , his boat and his crew
There are too many coincidental oversights. This man just straight up didn't care about the lives of these people, but by the grace of God it seems like he's being forced to remember them for the rest of his life and possibly wish he cared about them that day.
He literally cut the line and watched them die. What did this idiot captain expect to happen after the line was cut? Three humans are tethered together and probably wouldn’t be able to swim while being strapped into the harness. Captain deserves life in prison.
If it is cloudy, raining, a chance for thunderstorms, reports of lightning, or windy DONT partake in these kinds of activities. Yes, the Captain is legally and financially responsible but ultimately we are responsible for our own well-being. Some people have no issue putting you at risk for a little cash.
Yes we must protect ourselves first overall! At first I was wondering why he's in jail because we go into these adventures at our own risk but knowing he intentionally cut the rope and didn't attempt to save or call 911 is sickening!! These people were on vacation and they fully trusted this "captain" and his word on the weather. I'm sure he told them it was fine. So freaken sad. Especially when I have a husband who is this adventurous! 😢
@@jenivettebigham7060People often do risky activities while on vacation, things malfunction, even a zip line can break. The captain was a real POS no doubt.
Easier said than done, especially for tourist who are not familiar with the area or weather 🤷🏻♀️ That’s like telling someone when they visit Colorado they need to look at the entire forecast plan out their day and bring extra changes of clothing because our weather changes constantly from one minute to the next . So again, easier said than done ! The captain is 100% at fault prayers for the victims!
He knew what would happen when he cut that line worrying about instead of three innocent lives. This family will never get over this. Prayers for them, especially the children. 🙏🏻💕🙏🏻
He was more worried for his boat being damaged by the dragging of the parasail and cut the rope without any concern for the safety of the mother and her children. Sad to see any tourist happy about their family trip and then losing someone along the way. RIP to the mother and speedy recovery for the children both physically and mentally.
@@randomrazr The boat could have capsized, but they would still be tethered and everyone had life jackets as well as the seats in the boat being flotation devices. He'd have lost his boat, but they would most likely all be alive.
@@reynaldoflores4522 No. He cut the line to save his boat. The woman died from hitting the bridge. If he turned around and went back, the only thing different would be him to be the one to save the kids that he, himself. put in danger.
He cut the line? Wth for? What was supposed to happen to that woman and those two children once he Cut the Line? They would be at sea at the mercy of the elements. What was cutting the line supposed to do??
This all sounds to me like an act of racism, he did everything but help them, I bet he wasn't too happy he had to drive them around so the unthinkable happened and though he could get away with it!
*OMG. Not everything is RACISM! Sometimes it's incompetence, stupidity, intoxication, inattention... Most people (of ANY race wouldn't do something that would be taken as racism if for no other reason than to save their own skin!*
It looks like it was very, very windy. That man didn't know what he was doing or was desperate for money. How can you cut the lines knowing you would more than likely kill them? This is why I tend to stay away from some things that just seem very dangerous. Even roller coasters scare me now
I hope that gopro footage survived for the court to see and hear. I hope it stayed on her wrist. This is very, very sad. He deserves many, many years for this.
Paraders to this family, this mother, her children. I pray they get much support. This was so heartbreaking watching mother and children helplessly being flown away abandoned by this POS. To find he actually cut the cord because of his own incompetence like that boat was more important than their lives. That wasn’t a accident, when he cut that cord that was cowardly callous manslaughter, That pos should rot in hell.
What a horrible horrible human being. This is so tragic. Not to be graphic, but I’m curious how the mother passed? I hope she didn’t suffer. Her thoughts the entire time were probably for her son and nephew. RIP ❤️:(
When he cut the tow line, the poor trio dragged for a mile in the water, eventually crashing into a bridge, injuring the kids but killing the mother. Had he chosen to not cut the tow line, eventually they would have been safely rescued and would have stayed nearer the boat. Idk what he was thinking when he cut the line 🥺
SHOULD OF NEVER CUT THE TETHER, THAT WOULD BE LAST RESORT AND IT WASN'T EVEN CLOSE, HIS LIFE WAS NOT IN DANGER AND THE BOAT WASN'T ABOUT TO CAPSIZE FROM IT, I'M 47 YRS OLD AND IF YOU WERE TO ASK ME, WOULD YOU DO THESE RISKY THINGS AT MY AGE, HELL NO~!
Sounds similar to an accident that claimed the life of one of my former co-workers in Missouri a few years ago….A “duck boat” (improvised vehicle made to float on water) that went on the water with dangerous weather on the horizon. Money and peoples excitement doesn’t trump human life….Please pay attention to your weather alerts, and if people have to be denied an excursion, so be it…..R.I.P. to Bill, and all lost in these preventable accidents….🕊❤️😢
what happened there?. Did the boat drown along with the passengers?. and what has weather got to the do it?. Typically these duck boats float over lakes or ponds for few minutes to maximum 30mins i guess?
Going simply off by the common-sense pub test- this was premeditated. I can’t help but wonder if he knew her before his; or if he hit on her & she rebuffed him; or maybe his wife & kids had left him & he took out on this woman all of his rage. It’s equivalent to a taxi driver, driving drunk, removing the airbags prior, and wearing a blindfold, whilst he races through peak hour traffic. Then upon crashing, extricating himself before spilling fuel around the wreck, & then pretending to call 911. I hope attorneys for the family & prosecution can create an analogy. I think because most of us have never steered a boat, or been on a parasail never mind captained each, we really underestimate the intentional in his actions. We naturally assume ignorance & carelessness courtesy of it being a foreign activity/concept to us. But this was absolutely intentional
Thank you so much for this comment! No excuses for what he did, if only the radio was turned off and he was out and fighting for their lives then I'd believe it was an aweful mistake. But he really cut off their life cord to the boat.. Prayers for the survivors of this tragedy.
horrible heart breaking my condolence to the family 👪 I hope this family get justice ⚖ 🙏 I know their love one won't be coming home but we need justice.
He did not need to check the weather, as soon as you stepped out it should have been obvious. They should have never been on that boat to begin with but people these days are so driven by money.
When I was a kid I remember traveling across country and was a bit pressured to do this in Florida by my friends. I have fear of ocean water because I had an incident with a shark but went and did it anyway thinking I wasn’t gonna touch the water. We went up for a brief moment and came back down due to lightning/weather and the operator thought it would be funny to dip us in water before we got back to the boat. Now looking back, we probably got lucky.
He took their money even though he probably knew the weather was unsafe. Then he cared more about the boat's well-being than their lives. I'm disgusted to speculate that he probably didn't see them as real human beings to begin with, based on all of his combined actions. Someone else speculated that it could even have been premeditated murder and honestly that doesn't sound too far fetched. I am so angry that this happened when it didn't have to. I'm so sorry for this woman's family and for the many years of life she missed out on.
Those thousands of little white caps means it's not safe. Terrible sad situation. Easily could have been avoided if only one person said something about the weather.
So very very sad for the families. May his karma be swift. My husband died in a boating accident due to another’s ignorance. This is simply not acceptable.
I see how the weight of the parachute could drown them! The life jackets were useless without knowing how to free from the parachute!why didn't he go back & attempt to rescue them? He cut the lines so they would not get tangled in the motor. No excuse. Makes no sense. 🕊☮️
This is so awful! God love her and her family. And those little boys who had to be involved in this tragic event! I cannot believe the man claimed he tried calling 911 when he really didn’t! What the hell!? He very easily could have! But was too worried about the dam boat!
What a careless idiot this man is. Is any license required to operate a business like this where your taking people up in the air like that?? Any training? Any insurance? This type of business needs regulation. Too many videos of parasailing accidents. This man had no regard for their safety and needs to be held accountable. And no working cell phone too. Ridiculous.
@@spendalkendal1827 well sorry your brain isn’t big enough to understand what I’m really asking. 1. Did she drown 2. Was she hit by something 3. Was she strangled So yeah definitely not a dumb question.
This is awful but I also want to say people shouldn't be doing this in the first place don't put yourself in these types of positions ever since they started doing these things. I knew I would never go up in the air in one of those just because I knew it was a matter of time before someone got seriously hurt or killed just because it looks like fun doesn't mean you should do it it's just way too risky to the family I'm so sorry for your loss I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.. I wonder if they had to sign a piece of paper that said they're not responsible for any injuries or death if they signed that then more than likely the family won't get anything..
@@notjulianne87 supposedly he panicked and was afraid the boat would be dragged. Surely that could’ve been navigated until a lull in the winds to pull them safely in. Cutting the line he had to know he was potentially risking 3 lives, two of which were children to potentially save his boat? Or his own. If all had life jackets (as you would assume a reputable business would require) and the worst case the boat flipped they could have waded and waited for help but cutting the line meant probable death for those 3. He was the person in charge? Criminal indeed.
So so true. Also these people should have known better to. No I’m not blaming them so don’t think that I am. If I saw and heard the weather was going to be bad I myself wouldn’t have gone on
My (ex) husband and I lived in Key West and have gone parasailing many times but through Sunset Watersports only. It's always sunny however they will not do the watersport activities if the weather is too windy and the ocean is too choppy. This captain was totally neglectful and malicious (cutting the line 😢🥺) condolences to this family. There are so many east Indians who visit the keys everyday so this man should be used to it but racism is heavily alive in the keys.
The mother should not have put them in that situation either. The Captain is most definitely culpable for manslaughter, but that woman exercised poor judgment.
Let’s not blame the victim. She’s not the expert she’s paying money and assuming that this “captain” would do the right thing, and if it’s not safe to parasail, he would say so! that’s like you getting in a Lyft drivers vehicle there being a car crash because it’s crazy weather and the Lyft driver is going fast. There’s a car accident and you die, is it your fault for getting in the car?
@@Ericasentertainments “There’s a car accident, and you die, Is it your fault for getting in the car?…..” Well, no, if the weather is clear….😕🤷🏾♂️…If you see a flash flood in the horizon and that’s the drivers route, you get out of the car……The weather in this situation (wind, clouds, and eventual rain) equates to the flash flood in the above instance, and didn’t seem favorable for that excursion. This “so called captain” should be in jail for sure, but you’re also responsible for your own safety as well.
Sincere condolences to the family. Such a terrible tragedy on a holiday. This is a fun activity BUT I've witnessed in Cancun parasail hit the side of hotel and the guy luckily wasn't hurt. It can be dangerous even if the crew is good and weather can be a huge problem. This captain was incompetent and needs to be made accountable.
I'm too chicken to do stuff like this. What a tragedy. May she rest in peace, and may those boys be able to continue on being able to drown the trauma. They'll never forget. Who could forget something like this? But I least I hope they are able to overcome their grief.
Criminally the captain is at least guilty of negligent homicide but as far as a civil suit goes; the family won't win any damages because they assumed the risk by agreeing to parasail in inclement weather.
I don't believe this is correct. The family can win damages of they were not properly alerted beforehand. Also, there is negligence that can also result in an award since the captain did not follow protocol.
There shld be some training prior to parasailing. In addition, there shld be a SAFETY escape mechanism. If only they cld’ve undone the harnesses when they hit the water. They were at the mercy of that parasail. When I went parasailing yrs ago, I received no escape instruction or anything. This can be a very dangerous activity. Esp. If u have a negligent idiot at the boats 🛞
