A lazy morning fishing at the car sales jetty on the River Usk in Newport. A spot of sea fishing on the tidal stretch is a perfect way to spend a sunny summer's morning.
I was also able to test out transporting the fishing tackle in the Shakespeare fishing chair/backpack. The lightweight camping chair I bought was just too low to the ground so I prefer the Shakespeare chair. I will need to get a larger cargo carrier for the rear rack and replace the pannier bags.
I had a bite but lost it on the reeling in. Either the strike was not hard enough or the fish (possibly a bass) managed to get off as I filed off the barb and used the hooks barbless.
But a great morning out with lots of bird life to see. It did start to get hot towards the end of the session as we are in the middle of a heatwave but the earlier part of the morning was wonderful.
