When I hear ammo change I always thought projectile change not caliber change.

i think that the "joules count more" here on the curve and less in later parts, is not due to joule numbers, but rather the cavity profile, most caliber profiles that top portions of current joules, the cavtiy damge is being added and expanded out , so the joules dont count more, there is more cavity damge at that point in the joule loss curve

I am considering this. I'll have to stare at some screens for awhile. But I see where you're coming from. The line graph is basically the damage profile as a smushed straight line. You are very wise. This theory has potential. You may be the smartest WotH player 😃

With the Sika deer? They still growing. Takes 30 in game days or something. I've probably done 5 in game days so far abouts 😆 it's just a basic look and see

@@kaletz 😂 thanks! It's not a super detailed management test. It's just a let's see if we notice anything significant. I have to keep checking back with them as they grow. I'll do a video with the get older. They just live for a long time and I'm not hurrying it. I should actually do the test on whitetail or kudo. Animals that do not live that long

It's hit energy which equals pen and cav damage added. So if hit energy is 1500 then pen damage would be 700 and cav 800, unless the bullet exits then adding them would be less than hit energy. It is jewels of damage to animal min max jewels regardless of organ. Organ damage and jewel da,age determines how fast it dies. There's just a limit I don't know yet of what minimum jewels per animal min jewels. But you can exceed animal max jewels with damage jewels not hit an organ and they survive. So it seems to be hit energy, animal jewels min, and orgam damaged. I hit a cape with lung damage and entered the heart with just a little penetration and it lived. Shot a kudu with a .338 in the ham and way exceeded the kudu max jewels and it lived because I missed artery. So any vital organ with a minimal amount of hit energy will damage over time if it's enough. Hence animal survived , expired further away or drops instantly is all relative to hit energy to animal min .max jewels and shot placement on organs with a damage over time model. That's just from my testing. One of the things I did was take my shot damage not hit energy, so penetration + cavity damage because it can be different than hit energy, subtract that number from animal min and max jewels , add those and if it's less than 1000 seems the animal dies. Bumble the line on bottom is not frames, that's penetration and side is energy. Last comment i swear. The 7mm is doilike the 6.5 what its designed for, fast expansion and penetration. They are dfast rounds, lions have tough skin and bullet design like BC, speed and weight all play a part. Its not designed for teir 6 dangerous game but teir 6 cervid tryoes like elk. The skin isnt as tough. Thats why all your big dangerous game ammo is heavy weight an blunt tips. Its more penetration then expansion.

Hi James! Thanks for the detailed comment! The bottom of the line graph is time. And time can be calculated with frames per second. The initial logical way to calculate damage was to assume it was how much joules was applied to an organ. Which is simply entry joules minus exit joules. But this math does not convert directly to damage as 500j higher up on the graph does more damage than 500j on the bottom of the graph. So there is a non-linear modifier or equation being applied to the damage. Also an animal will die when a single damage bar is filled up. It has not been scienced exactly how the game determines how long an animal will bleed out. Could be three different factors. We do know that an animal dies instantly when there is a large overkill on one of the damage bars. It's something like 200%

@@bumblewoot love your content and that you can have a discussion. But the only thing that I can definitely say is correct on my end is that the bottom of the graph is penetration. If you watch the left side of the graph it starts at impact energy and shows energy go lower and lower. Initial impact energy is the jewels which is normally ft lbs with ammunition but 1 ft lb equals 1.3 joules. The further the round goes before impact the lower the joules get as you know. So the initial impact is the joules with distance loss. As the bullet impacts depending on if it's the correct rifle for that type of game, the bullet starts to slow and expand. The total of that expansion and penetration is shown above and when added together the expansion cavity and penetration is equal to the impact energy. As you slide the graph the bullet moves to the end of the penetration (bottom graph) as the side shows the bullet reducing energy as it slows due to penetration. That's why when a bullet exits the animal the graph line is horizontal because it's out of flesh and not slowing. That's also why when you hit bone the graph is more vertical because if you watch the energy on left it drops drastically also making penetration less. That's why the graph ends when the bullet stops inside the animal. Expansion seems to be a constant model when hitting flesh, but animals seem to have a hardness to skin showing when ballistically that round should start its expansion. And with this it seems expansion or cavity damage number is based on where expansion started and the remainder is penetration based on projectile joules or ft lbs of energy. And that data is applied to organs and the amount of damage they need to kill that animal.

@@jamesbevan9989 thanks James! I will think on this for sure. The thing is though the line graph performance also matches with time. Near the bottom of the line graph the line is far less steep indicating the bullet is moving slower and therefore the time for it to move across the organ is longer. When the bullet goes through the bone it has a very steep energy drop indicating a lot of energy loss over a very short amount of time. Since the graph is not labeled we will not really know for sure. In my mind the penetration of the bullet is the joules and that is on the Y-axis. It just makes more sense to me for it to be penetration vs time as penetration vs penetration doesn't really make sense to me. You can also see the bullet speed slow in relation to time just as the little bullet view movie plays out. As you know, the channel isn't about trying to convince anyone of anything, just to show what I see so people have something to compare to. What I will do is ask the community what they feel the x-axis is so I can get a better feel for what people are seeing 👍

@@bumblewoot the damage comes from cavity and penetration, even though penetration is based on bullet energy the graph to the left is showing bullet energy at that amount of penetration at bottom. So technically you could figure out the time if you knew the exact penetration distance at bottom because penetration distance slows as bullet energy slows. Great discussion and I hope one day we'll both get to know! I didn't get much sleep so I don't think I made a lot of sense the first one, I mean I spelled joules jewels ! But I hope to do some more testing tonight. Thanks for all you do for the community.

@@jamesbevan9989 it may also be the terms being used. I had debated over the x-axis being time or distance. What you are calling penetration can be what I've been calling distance. I've asked some of the scientists in the community and I have also inquired to the devs on any info they give us. The discord is having a discussion on it now lol. Time and distance are directly relatable and if the term penetration is used instead of distance than that would make sense to as well.
