You cant retire because you buy luxury goods...that $4000 USD bag bought at age 18 invested in SP 500/ 10%(historical 100 year average) could be worth $469,000 USD at age 68 from 50 years of 10% compunding interest, thats doing nothing other than buying the SP 500 index and leaving it there...think about it. People who think this 4k bag has good quality, it literally could easily fund your retirement if invested long term and not touching it.

buying luxury items you can't afford and (more importantly) don't need would help with the problem.
