In 2021 I suffered from the worst depression. I was never depressed before. I couldn't even take care of myself. My dog had to move in with my sister. I am so mad I lost a year of his life, but I will do my best to make it up to him. Your videos inspired me to make the most of it. Thank you.

This is what VlogAfterCollege is, and I love it! Ryen hanging out and goofing around with Gatsby, ukulele covers (this cover was “As It Was” by Harry Styles!), aquarium updates, grocery shopping, hanging out with friends, as well as cooking and eating foods (I’ve seen those melon ice bars at the Asian grocery markets but never tried them out before)! It has been an extremely tough 2 months for both Gatsby and Ryen, but I’m grateful to see them back at it! It’s so awesome to see that Gatsby is feeling pretty much back to normal with his high energy! You too Ryen! I’m so so happy for you two and continue to cheer for you guys! My gosh, I love the calendar! My favourite image is the cover image! Gatsby looks so proud with his walk! But other than he cover image, my favourite image is July! Gatsby looks so happy and the placement of Ryen’s hand with the snow cone so funny! The behind the scenes image for May was hilarious, just seeing Ryen making a mess in the kitchen caught me so off guard haha! When I saw the centrefold poster and the quote above, my heart absolutely melted. Just Ryen hanging out with his best friend Gatsby. ❤️

Aloha Ryen, Everything about you and your journey with Gatsby has been a total life saver for someone like me. I went through a very simular journey with my dog Short Ski who was a rescue corgi mix and changed my life forever. When he was diagnosed with cancer, it was a lot of stress and pressure from so many people with their opinions. I did everything to keep my boy happy and healthy to his last days. We went through several treatments until it no longer worked. We had nearly 17 years with him. You and Gatsby got me through the toughest times as you and your energy, life style and choices to live life as companions made for a huge comfort at knowing maybe folks would realize more than ever how our pets are family too. Thank you for all you do and just know people like me are here with you every step of the way. I waited for 3 months before reconsidering a new corgi after Shortski went over the Rainbow and because of you, I was able to move forward and start a new journey with my new companion Kainoa. My free flowing ocean child of the sea. Together we keep Shortski's spirit alive and my personal well being is stronger everyday. I look forward to all of your merch products and will continue to support you and Gatsby with more purchases. I'm so proud of you and how brave you are having continued keeping up with you Vlog. We lost our little girl dog to cancer & she came to me in a dream. We had been depressed for weeks. She said she was in Heaven but she didn’t say it with words. She said something about how beautiful & “Japan”. I didn’t understand until the trees bloomed where we buried her. YES! The Japanese Princess Trees bloomed like never before!!! A huge cloud of blooms Blue & amazing. We still miss her. Our grand kids miss her too. Dianna & David. 💕

It makes me happy to see he is feeling better. He is such a handsome boy.

I feel like this year it’s been hitting me. I’ve lost couple of people I know. I’ve seen deaths of people we follow on social media. even tho we don’t know them personally. There more I see stuff like this, the more I realize how precious life is. Death can happen at any min. So I feel nowadays we all need to take the time to be thankful for who we have in our life and what we have. Praying for Gatsby ❤️

Hang in there. I lost my corgi mix a little over a year ago to the same situation. By the time we got Molly in to get a CT scan she was past help. But she was also 12 or 13, so many more good times than sad. Enjoy each day and hug your pup often. ❤️

By the way, did I tell you that I love Gatsby so very much. He looks exactly like my precious Corgi, Baby Boy. When baby boy died I was devastated even though he lived to be 19 years old. But one day I was browsing through RU-vid and I saw you and Gatsby. I think you all were God sent because Gatsby looks so much like my Baby Boy!!! I have watched every one of your videos more than once. Please take care and God bless each of you.

Hey Ryen, I stumbled across your vlog a few months ago, right around when Gatsby was diagnosed and I just have to say I am so glad he is doing so much better! And I realized watching that first video that I know you! As in actually know you, not internet know you. You might not remember having a pen pal as a kid who lived in New Mexico. You would teach me origami (and I honestly brought nothing to the pen pal relationship except bad handwriting, sorry!). Our dads were friends in high school and now I just find it amazing that the algorithm gods recommend your videos to me. I don’t know if you will ever see this, but sending you and Gatsby all the best wishes. I went through a heartbreaking cancer experience with my first dog and I know how hard it can be to look for the light.

I’ve been watching you guys for years and now I check up on the channel every year or so and I’m shocked to see this news I really hope all goes well. A lot of us view Gatsby like we view our own dog.

As a dog owner who also lives in the Bay Area (SJ), the shortage of vets in our area is insane and access to healthcare for my little girl is something that gives me great anxiety. 2022 has been a garbage year medically for my girl as well, and she had to be hospitalized three times with aspiration pneumonia, with medical costs thus far being over $20k by now and climbing. Thank the LORD for pet insurance and I’m SO glad my mother pushed me to get that insurance as soon as I adopted my girl. In a sense, I was lucky that she had already had two previous health problems in the past that required internal med (it got us in the system as a patient for something much less urgent), and even back in 2017, getting IN to see the internist at SAGE took a month. But because we were already a patient with an internist at SAGE (who we absolutely ADORE), we were able to get seen rather quickly when shit hit the fan with another medical problem this year. And bro it’s BAD when there’s an emergency. I’ve had to go to the ER this year a ton and if the patient is stable, we had to wait 3-4 hours to get seen. One time she was considered critical, so they were ready for her as soon as we got there. And there were several times where SAGE said we are not accepting anymore patients tonight and turned us away. One time, literally all emergency vets in SJ turned us away (VERY scary) so I ended up calling SAGE up in Redwood City and they were able to get her seen right away. There have been times where I felt like I was bugging the vet constantly with problems and questions, often on the verge of another meltdown. I’d constantly apologize for taking up more of their valuable time and here’s what the internist said to me…you have NOTHING to be sorry for. You are doing what you HAVE to do for your pet to get her the care that she needs. Ryen, you did what you had to for Gatsby. You did good and Gatsby is so lucky to have a dad like you who will move mountains to get him the medical care he needs. At the same time, it’s unsettling as a pet owner. I don’t have a platform like this. What would I have done in this situation and would the outcome be different? How many pets beloved pets have to die because access to care is so limited? Anyway, my advice as a fellow pet owner in the Bay Area? Ask your vet and their team questions. Understand your options. There are Facebook groups for my dog’s medical condition which have been a very helpful resource for me. I’m sure there are plenty of dogs with cancer support groups out there. And finally, don’t limit yourself to the emergency vets local to SJ. Sometimes more immediate care is just a 30-60 min drive away. GOOD LUCK, GATSBY! We’re rooting for you ❤

Oh, Ryen... I hope Gatsby ocntinues to feel great. Keep hoping -- I had a cat with cancer with a prognosis similar to Gatsby's. After she was treated, we had 3 great years together Love to you both.

I lost my lab in May, but I already had my Corg, Wrangler, I didn't realize how much I needed him until I lost Tucker. We are best buddies.
