I’m glad y’all got this to market. Was more fun doing the demonstration than just an ad read. And I think people will understand it a lot better. I’m actually kinda surprised how fast I was able to shoot it. I think this would actually shine on a pistol or a more light weight gun.
@@RenoMay That was my favorite part! I think people’s first reaction to Interrupted Action is “it must be slow like a bolt action”. Glad you were able to demonstrate otherwise.
@@damny0utoobe Virtually none! We worked closely with one of the top metallurgists in the country to identify a carbon steel alloy/heat treatment strategy for the BRS that makes it strong enough to take tens of thousands of impacts without breaking - while being soft enough to prevent damage to the face of the bolt. I’m still using the same BCG from the original prototype of the BRS and when measured with calipers, there is zero material removed.
I was not happy DSI basically said sorry no luck there when I asked about a 5rnd fixed mag .308 for hunting.. Old Brandon said we don't need big mags yet here we are, all you can get is a big mag setup thats legal in states where lame assault weapons bans are in place!
I'm all for it, so long as we stick with our fellow "patriots" when if they get caught in a pinch. Put our money and time where our mouths are. Not calling for noncompliance but also fuck the CA DOJ. Freakin p#@g$
This is what's called a "Lever release" action. They were popular in Britain before they were banned from civilian ownership. There's some lever-release shotguns in and CZ 515 .22 rimfire rifles in Australia, and Verney-Carron hunting rifles where it's easier to get licensed for or even no requirement to get licensed for manual-action rifles and shotguns.
UK legislation banned any rifle with a chamber from which empty cartridge cases are extracted using energy from propellant gas, or energy imparted to a spring or other energy storage device by propellant gas, other than a rifle which is chambered for .22 rim-fire cartridges. So .22WMG is about as exciting as it gets.
@@antiochman8222 considering that .22 wmr also chambers .17hmr, .17 hmr is a spicy round to have even for self defense due to the velocity, and recoil allowing more rounds on target, and also losing energy after penetration in an enclosed space like a home
Most people are all talk. And too many have it just good enough to let it be. But that is very clearly changing. And the fact that these idiots played Rich Men North of Richmond at the debates? Shows just how disconnected from the reality of the situation around them. They are going to wake up one day and be shocked that people are coming for them. We need to stop looking at the extremists on both ends of the aisle and acting like they are the normal mainstream American who leans left or right. Average, every day Americans who simply disagree on a few things, but can otherwise get behind a common cause? And not act like a complete asshole to someone who voted for a different candidate? Remember that? It was literally the America I knew for forty years. I know we’re all still here. So in the words of the great poet Chuck D? DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE! The average Americans with common sense and ground? Are the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY in this country. And we need to find a way to actually link up and make shit happen.
Honestly... they'd just not comply and not really pay much mind to it. As a practical matter, law only matters when you're caught, since the ATF/State Police agencies aren't going door-to-door to check up on people who are or are not complying with the laws, it's kind of moot.
I'm in a free state but I still watch your vids to see the various ways people are trying to work around California's ridiculous rules. Thanks for the vid. That's definitely interesting and way cooler than the other things (fixed mag, cali-key, that stupid bullet button thing) I've seen come out for Cali. Good luck Californian brothers/sisters/aliens/cyborgs.
I'm also in a Free State and can own anything I want as long as the ATF approves it. 2 suppressors so far and in the market for a machine gun. YES, I have the money for one.
Stuck in WaSoviet State where we're only allowed 10 round magazines regardless the action _and_ aren't allowed most centerfire semi-autos. Genuinely considering this for a home defense 300 blackout...
I'm in a free state to montana we can have anything suppressor night scopes 60rd mags this compliance seems to make the guns less safe like that weird fin grip
If the criminals have more rights than citizens, seems like a no brainer. We pay all the fees, take the classes, try to do everything the "right" way, yet we still come out losing so yeah we're tired of it.
It's amazing the innovation that's created to get around unconstitutional and tyrannical laws instead of people just rising up to put an end to the tyranny in the first place.
The only way we can rise up against this type of tyrannical regulations is through our votes, and unfortunately, here in California, the average voter has been brainwashed that guns are bad and that they will be protected by the government. You have no idea how frustrating it is to hear people say "I will vote for this antigun bill because the government says it'll stop criminals" goddamn bunch of dumb sheep.
I am fortunate enough to own a few fully transferrable machine guns, including a Colt M16A1 and few AR-15s. IMO, it is more complicated to jump through the hoops to own one of these neutered ARs than jumping through the hoops to own NFA items. It must really suck to live in places with a semi-auto ban.
I could see this being useful on a hunting rifle or something that was setup for more precise work so the chamber gets to cool off a bit more between rounds like a bolt gun.
Interesting, the problem for me is that they can change their minds and just keep banning all of the workarounds. Even if people submit and say this is the best we can have, they can take it away. What’s the point in trying to comply with people changing the rules to win?
Everything always gets called a loophole. "Oh, he's using the bolt action loophole to get around the semi auto ban!" To them, owning a firearm period is a loophole. They'll ban certain features, then when those features are removed for compliance, it gets called a loophole. "He's using a crossbow to get around the gun ban! Loophole! Loophole!"
That magazine does NOT hold 30 rounds. It is a standard magazine that has “reduced capacity” to 10 rounds. I use Magpul 10/30 mags for my rifle, they look like 30 round mags, but are in fact only capable of holding 10 rounds. 30 round magazines are currently illegal in California. Sadly, every time our beloved judge Benitez overturns unconstitutional laws; the state of California immediately appeals.
What sucks about mass non compliance is we get caught one at a time and they try to make an example out of that person it’s not like they’re catching 100 of us an we can just say no 🤦🏻♂️
Why would you respect their laws lmfao. They litterally let criminals, rapists, pedophiles, and traffickers, out with zero jail time. Regular immigrants get borderline enslaved in the H-1B, while illegals can jump the border, cry about some bullshit, and get a greencard within 3 months despite breaking federal law. They let Cartels operate with ACTUAL MILITARY FULL AUTO WEAPONS inside their boders, and they do nothing about it. Theres NOTHING about Californian law that you should respect or even really follow. Commiefornian law is designed to be broken, and is a tool by the criminal, to exploit the law abiding. The police arent gonna do shit about it, the same way they dont do shit about mass looting. 3D print your guns, and do what you want.
Another issue is how to organize that. And how to build a support system for induviduals who do suffer, assuring it won't hurt as bad when they try to make examples. And also, how are the logitsics gonna work? Numerious companies won't even ship to Cali, let alone enough to get people to "not comply". It's a lot to consider.
It’s good when we can get more options, in different ways. I don’t use any maglocked guns, but if I did, I would want there to be more than one viable option for myself and other users, and I hope that they develop so much that in time there will be very little difference between a maglocked rifle and a featureless (functionally). Really refreshing to see anyone step up and make a product, rather than taking all of this tyranny, lying down. Very happy to see another option out there, and may there be innovation, competition, and price lowering in a plethora of options, soon.
Don't forget about the KNS roll pin replacement. For those that don't have threaded bolt catches, this allows installation with a C clip instead of hammering in a roll pin.
I thought about this exact idea many years ago, was curious why no one had produced one until now. It would make more sense for the lever to come thru the trigger guard like a bad lever
@@marcusborderlands6177 I understand that, but it’s only historically recent where Americans are begging to have others freedoms restricted when our constitution protects against that.
I was very sceptical about anyone buying this , until you’ve said it can be ar-pistol. Ca lacks any good ar pistol options, so this one is somewhat not bad
I just put hogue freedom fighter kits in mine.. bought the jig a while ago and just set up my own mag locks now. Technically compliant is the best compliant..
Some say ignore unconstitutional laws however statistically most of us are far more likely to be locked away for unconstitutional laws than we are to require a rifle breaking those laws. Besides some of us can return a rifle to normal function in just a few minutes.
Very interesting product and just goes to show you the ingenuity of people. Reno gives great and honest reviews. This video also reminded me how loud the action are ARs is compared to bolt
*easier to just ignore unconstitutional laws* 😅 *"working around" unconstitutional laws is like a slave having gold shackles instead of having iron shackles... same condition remains... no backbone, no rights... ask the Founding Fathers*
These workarounds only work until the kings decide to change the law again. Granted they can't keep up with tech advancement but still can just change the law at a whim.
the mars was different the mars was essentially a reverse binary trigger that needed two trigger pulls per shot whereas this uses a seperate button like the lever release
Pa is probably one of the most free states when it comes to firearms especially things like AR-15s, not only do we not have waiting periods, we don't have background checks for private sale for rifles or shotguns, we have super easy carry permit process with most municipalities giving the permit same day, and with that permit we also have the ability to carry loaded AR pistols or NFA items in our vehicles like short barrel shotguns, short brought rifles and even machine guns. Yes you heard that correctly if you have a concealed carry license you can have a fully automatic M16 as your truck gun if you're into that
Also no restrictions on NFA items except for destructive devices that also fall under federal explosives regulations so that means you can have your street sweepers and your 40 mic mic launchers but no he ammo or RPG heat rounds
Also very few gun free zone type places, the only place is where it's understate statute illegal to carry a firearm are your places like your federally illegal places as well as things like jails, mental hospitals and courthouses.
No guns signs also do not have force of law so if the place isn't on the relatively small list of no-go places and does not have metal detectors you're basically free to carry it. And The place is other than airports and I've seen that have actual metal detectors are stadiums and amusement parks like Hershey Park, citizens Bank Park etc also a bunch of nightclubs in Philly use them
Biggest issue I have though is you cannot use semi-automatic for hunting anything except small game and even then small games semi-automatic is limited to rimfire rifles you can't even use rimfire pistols, also the only public ranges are run by the Pennsylvania game commission and have really BS fud type rules and the majority of outdoor ranges are private clubs that either have a high membership fee or also have the very fud type rules like no rapid fire no steel etc. And other than national forests you cannot just go into the woods and shoot
I do like this concept. I've looked at stuff from other countries lever release and straight pull. I wish we could just own regular semi autos but atleast we have more option.
NY, i have a COLT AR-15 that i purchased over 20 years ago before any of these laws came into effect. And I'm not changing a danm thing, so in my own laws, I'm grandfathered in ✌️🇺🇸😜
I'm both fascinated at these devices but also disgusted that they have to exist. I realize it's much easier said than done but i wish people would leave these days and vote with their feet but speaking as someone who lived in Chicago for over 20 years I'm well aware of the issues leaving can bring.
I think something like this or the cali-key is a good option for people who need to travel through California regularly, but don't want to completely neuter their firearm.
I agree. The threaded pin is a great idea. I don’t know if it makes it as quick and easy to remove and replace as the Kali Key though. The action is definitely better this way.
Have you considered attaching 4 mags together so you can reload side to side as well as upside down. Really put those high school pen spinning skills to the test.
Absolutely do not disobey your local, state or national laws. As we know they can most definitely override the constitution and your rights as Americans. The best thing to do is tip toe and fight the battle for years in court. Just not complying with these laws en masse? That would be just silly.... As always, love you and your content and keep fighting the good fight.
Yes you are correct. I am currently in the process of documenting my appeals for CCW denial. It's the only way we're going to restore the rights of people by creating litigation and reaching out to 2nd Amendment friendly lawyers who will fight for us. Donate your time and money to the crpa, Firearms policy coalition and organizations like that. That's how we fight back.
guys, as a texan who frequents kali, and has a house there, i find it easier to have a mini 14. damn good rifle and frankly there is no performance loss compared to the AR platform. wood stock can also be used to bludgeon you foe
There's one problem with your demo, Reno, 30 round mags only apply to those that ALREADY have the (legally). For those that don't have them (legally), they're limited to 10 rounds regardless of their AR set up. So you should technically do the timing demo with all configs using 10 round mags and mag changes.
i always thought of this as a solution to the "semi-automatic" ban. although one solution i thought up of is having 2 triggers in the trigger gaurd, one that is further up than the second trigger. the first trigger would release the bolt, and second would fire the round
It's not, the ca definition is “an ammunition feeding device contained in, or permanently attached to, a firearm in such a manner that the device cannot be removed without disassembly of the firearm action.” Now, I've never seen anyone at a range care, in fact, as someone with a fixed mag AR, most people react with visible confusion.
I think I can already see a way to speed up the cycling time on that thing, in which case even though you are coordinating 2 hands to fire, you could fire quite quickly and in a defensive situation be perfectly lethal... I mean well-defended.
I love seeing creative people come up with solutions. Seems like a great option for those that choose compliance. Now, for Men living in California all you need is your index finger and a pair of BALLS.
RENO, off topic here but that girl who got probation for stabbing her boyfriend to death with 108 stabs. I think it was in or near your county. Any thoughts on that? She blamed taking two bong hits for her actions. We both know if that if the roles were reversed, the bf would be put away for life. Somehow, the "pot made me do it" defense works when the "alcohol made me do it" defense does not. Hmmm
I don’t know why featureless gets a bad wrap. It’s a piece of plastic taken out and a screw in and out and your back or normal, plus with a freedom week mag. Everyone says train for your reloads and clearing a jam but honestly adjusting your grip is much easier and natural to move from different fire arms than the motion of reload training and figuring out how to clear a jam with your bolt locked back in a high stress scenario. In the case of this new thing, I’d put it over mag lock any day imo
If your rifle is self defense I don’t think you can beat a featureless with a thordsen stock, another option is a fin grip with a thumb rest. This is however another good option and in most cases probably fine, it is faster than a pump or lever gun and with enough training probably pretty effective.
I’d redesign this so that lever so that it sits in front of the face of the trigger. So you’d pull the lever then the lever would smack the trigger essentially making like a trigger for your trigger.
I live in most Northern CA you can get. CCW is super easy to get and lots of ppl carry here. My AR is fully kitted with no silly mods. Our law enforcement doesn’t mess with us at all. If I went 120 miles south I’d be screwed. 😂
The only downside that I can see to this is, trying to rapid fire, but holding the mag well while having to actuate the lever, could cause less accuracy since the user won’t be holding the handguard.
After seeing similar European (mainly UK I think) AR "lever release" designs for years now I've always wondered why they never made their way to the California/other evil empire markets... I think this is a great solution since it can use existing AR parts without permanent modification in most circumstances, which keeps cost low and availability high. Some lever release AR's I've seen from UK channels had much better located bolt releases, but were either proprietary lowers or completely proprietary rifles with a small market, which I'm sure made them incredibly expensive... I'm still surprised none of those firing hand thumb accessible ARs have been produced for ban states, but I guess the cost:market factor probably isn't favorable, plus possible patents from those European manufacturers... Also I think they eventually banned or atleast added more classification restrictions to the UK firearm licenses that originally allowed lever release ARs to make most of them go away 😒 Which might also be why manufacturers were unwilling to risk the same outcome in USA antigun states... I hope this company does well with this product 👍
Thank you very much for your comment. You're absolutely right. Many of the lever release designs required a redesign of several internal components - which hikes up cost. By the time you get to market, you've got a rifle that you have to charge $2500+ for just to be in the black. Throughout our design process, our goal was to have a quick-to-remove, legally bulletproof, and cost-competitive alternative for folks like me who can't stand featureless and wanted to use freedom week mags.
@@roflryan1 Well specifically the lever release AR's, but I'm pretty sure they were exempted from legal ownership with a standard firearms license a few years ago... Even though they weren't semiautomatic, and were not being used for criminal activity 😒 I guess they just looked wayyy too scary, even in non semiautomatic mode, so they had to be banned! (Atleast from what I understand. They may still be available legally, but it would require a much more difficult to obtain license if I remember correctly)
appreciate the info, no longer live in Commiefornia but its good to know for my pops that still lives in so-cal. Kinda feels like the ever changing line in the sand defining what is "legal' and what isn't in California sucks for older folks that aren't technologically inclined.
There is a new bolt action system out of Illinois, its called the LAW bolt from Law Tactical in Naperville, and you don't have to sacrifice the the bcg to do it. That said, this looks better.
This idea has been around for more than a decade. It's usually called a semi-semi auto. The idea was not to actually make them, but to have the ability if semi-auto AR-15s were made illegal is California. The button button is easy enough to drop a magazine. They even make little clips that go on your middle finger to depress the bullet button. I've moved from California two years ago, so there may have been a few changes in the last two years that I'm unaware of.
Between this and the juggernaut rear pin I think the juggernaut is the least worst. The idea of this product is appreciated but seems that lever could get caught on stuff, similar to an extended bolt release lever
I LOVE that we haven't given up here in CA. For me, I prefer to keep my Sparrow grip, featureless set up as it allows me 30 rd freedom mag, normal mag release, and when hell finally freezes over, meaning CA gets to enjoy constitutional rights, I don't have to alter any muscle memory, just swap out my grip. Thanks for doing this video and good on the inventor of the Ashford BRS! Hold fast, Cali!
Whoa, that system you mentioned where you have to pull the trigger again to reset the bolt sounds like a recipe for disater! Talk about ingraining some bad habits...
