They already tracked it WAY farther down the chain than the governor. The city of SF got popped for $2 billion missing just from the money sent to them exclusively. People are retiring while burning all their files. One non-profit owner in SF got popped on charge totally unrelated to those funds. They're coming down hard on EVERYONE who got a single dollar of that money and doesn't have a clean nose. That's one thing I love about blue cities, corruption scandals like this breaks and people actually get fired and charged.
Hahahaha like it mattered if he did it 3 years ago. Why would you switch teams because of homelessness in california? Did it raise your wages, give you new civil rights, remove your debt, or give you government fully paid medical or education? Republicans always acting like its too late to get their vote.
He has not. The 9th district court created this mess. Do some research. Joe Primidio here has it wrong. Illegals and Papered workers harvest our crops. Ca has a billion dollar industry. Trump's mass deportation will cause significant inflation in the USA. So will his Chinese Tariffs.
@@moorefacts6605 When the governor disregards Federal Immigration Laws and tells the world all are welcome, legal or illegal, then you have given support to the mess at the border where people are abused, robbed and kidnapped for ransom or to be sold to human traffickers. This is also contributing to the states widespread fentanyl use and OD's, lack of housing, strain on the infrastructure, water, electricity, sewer systems are all maxed out. Probably not all his fault, but he sure is making it much worse.
@@joepromedio The Governor knows that since agriculture is a big part of Calif. economy that illegals and work permitted temporary residents are the workforce. The GOP is losing support from the farming industry for this and other reasons. The GOP doesn't support laws sanctioning employers because they want cheap labor. The Dems do support these laws. If Trump deports the millions he's talking about more businesses will go under. This is just one reason why Trump's culture war policies will cause more inflation for us all.
@@dion8962 I'm sure the people who live there will take what they can get. I know I would. Not much happens until election year no matter what, regardless of party affiliation.
A lot of the people don’t want homes. The majority have mental issues and are heavily addicted to drugs. I worked with an outreach program to help house the homeless and many of them turned down housing, shelters, and long term care. The ones that accepted housing soon hoarded and abandoned the homes, and chose to sleep back in the streets.
What happened to the $24 billion dollers of our tax money for a homeless 😡😡 24 billion is More than Arizona state budget 🥵 It's insane amount of money What happened?
@@ricr7289 👂🏽 👍🏽 foookin Thank You exactly 💯 taking action not just signing paperwork 📜 & making contracts & promises like Mayor Bass this is the greatest thing CA can do Do you have any IDEA 💡 the Logistical manpower needed to clear the encampments in every single CA county by Olympics L.A 2028 ?
I was very angry when he passed the law, or someone, that it wouldn't be a criminal charge if stolen merchandise was under 1k!!! That is so, so wrong!!!😡😡
In many states, it's not a felony unless the value of stolen goods is in the thousands. Really hard to run a jail when it's filled with petty thieves instead of more serious criminals.
How about building some homeless shelters and rehab centers to get these people back to work and stop overpricing the property so people don't get evicted in the first place. Its simple.
@jmason61 He ordered the release of seven thousand pedophiles during the lockdown. Many of them were violent, and others who served under two years of the original sentence
This has to be the first time Ive ever seen a Governor personally cleaning up a homeless encampment. Imagine waking in a tent and the Governor of California is tearing down it down.
@@mydanadesigns he's actually done this before. And yes the newspaper was there to take his picture doing it-the reason why he was really there. He sure wasn't getting his picture taken for an article on how he really solved the problem.
This Homeless encampment is under a bridge, far from buisnesses and schools, and sidewalks. Newsome is a coward, go do this on the streets, in skid row etc. Not under a bridge away from the real problem areas.
Just put yourself in their shoes, do onto others what you want done to you. Broke and with nothing you want laws to protect you from starving or being pushed out of the cities. That said they need to pick a land area and bus everyone there in California. Fund the location so that the issue is concentrated instead of spread to the four corners of california.
The Constitution don't allow the president and the vice president to be from the same state she cannot pick him if she even wanted to it's just not allowed
I grew up here, got multiple college degrees here, don't have a substance abuse problem, and still needed up homeless. He wouldn't survive three days trying to sleep on the streets.
He’s just mad cause it makes him look bad. But seriously he is the boss of the state for a long time and he’s had years to free t these issues and nothing happened also what happened to all the tax payer money for these “ remedies “
It costs over 100,000 to keep somone in jail. A talk show host suggested it would be better to pay 2000 rent for each. Oh but then they dont have more bodies for slave labor in the jails.
@@NoName-ml5yk where do they go then? They can't hover in the air or disappear? Why would landlords care if the rent is paid. Functioning drug addicts live in apartments and houses all over. Everyone has problems. Some of these people aren't even addicts or mental cases they're sickly or old. There has to be an answer. Something I haven't heard in this situation overall is the inhumanity of human beings that live outside in the elements without bathrooms shelter or someone to look after them. Food might be scarce. They take away their only possessions. They're vulnerable in so many ways. It's always about who doesn't want to see them ,who's a tax payer and who's not, don't bring them inside around my house, or a political career at stake. It's stupid what's being done suddenly by newsome because it's not an answer, it's not thought out for the sake of the vulnerable homeless and the safety of the housed alike. It's a thoughtless political stunt for his selfish self with no lasting results. You'll just be kicking around thousands and thousands of people with no real result or end.
Or they can be tougher on crime, and reduce the number of people in jail. When you incentivize crime and have little to no punishment, guess what... more criminals lol.
THE HOMELESS NEED TO BE ROUNDED UP, SEE WHERE THEY COME FROM, SENDING THEM THERE!!! HALF THESE PEOPLE ARE FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE, SOME OTHER STATE, AND MOST OF THESE PEOPLE ARE ABUSING THE SYSTEM.
Agree, people receive General Relief and SNAP no matter what state they come from, with no requirement of having a connection to CA. Edit to add - I’m all for helping my neighbor, not someone who bussed in form Ohio.
Yes 100%, they are from other countries like Canada, France or from sent here from other states like NV, AZ,TX, OK they should be fignerprinted sent back with bills for service. There are others who come from states like KY, IO, UT but they are trying to get something strange away from anyone they do witnessing their behavior.
Wow…Are You Indigenous Native American like me ?! I agree we need to Close the Border and the illegal immigration is a problem but let’s be fair here. G. Newsom was in charge of Billions that was suppose to help the homeless in crisis.
Fining someone with literally nothing to their name- not even enough to feed one’s self is not cruel and unusual punishment? Wow. That’s some kind of privileged thinking
Picking up trash, waste, debris for an hour or two won't make you look good. Try doing it MINIMUM THREE TIMES a week! Full 8 hours! Try that, Gruesom Newscumb!
The city leadership of L.A., from the mayor on down, is egregious in its failure to uphold its number one priority, to create safe and clean streets for its citizens to live in. Imagine, wasting all of its precious resources to the very people who destroy every environment in which they inhabit?! They ruin public transportation, libraries, parks, public recreation, and we give billions to the homeless industrial complex that created and supports this disaster.
Soooo... He orders the encampments to be dismantled, then goes on TV and says it's a local government issue and says we need to help the homeless. Got it.
The state needs to hold counties and cities accountable and answerable for what they spend the millions of dollars on when it's earmarked for eradication of homelessness. The tax payers money just seems to be disappearing into a black hole ( or the Homelessness industry!) We are all skeptical that the governors photo ops etc are all just because the election is around the corner. As a democrat I have to say that the state legislature is partly to blame for the mess that this state and its cities are in .
Neat, create the problem with stupid policies like giving addicts drugs, alcohol, and free hotel rooms, tent cities etc, then get mad when the whole country knows this and you see your political career waning. Wow, who"d a thought, but someone extremely detached from reality?
Threatening Homeless People is not going to resolve the situation our STATE Representatives are NOT doing anything to resolve the situation either adequate housing depending on the situation of the residents!! We need to pull together and te-structure the system! 💙⚖️🇺🇸💯🗳️💙👠👍
Put the out of state homeless on a bus, back to their home states so their taxpayers can foot the bill. Just because California has the weather to live outside year round, does not mean California should pay to clean up after them.
first off, yes, they should be forced to clean up after themselves and their own mess. 2nd, why should we pay them to clean up the mess they made? Perhaps we could pay them to help clean up other messes but not their own. and 3rd, they already have programs that do this and most of these folks don't want to do it. They're not homeless because of the cost of living, they're homeless because they're on substances. It's not a homeless problem, it's the drugs.
Think about it. Wouldn't jail make their drug problem worse since it will increase their suffering? If it's not a drug problem it's going to be something else that is unhealthy
@adrian_zombturtle148 that's why they need educational programs within jails/prisons as well as tons outdoor physical activities. Computer/music classes to help build skills and keep them off drugs.
As always, taking it out on those with least. How about getting electric bills, insurance, food, and property taxes lowered and social security increased, instead of funding "Israel" and "Ukraine" (Mr. A. Hole) so people who have homes don't land under a bridge in the first place.
Mayor Bass you have done nothing! I believe now you got this job for the photo shoots and perks. You’re not for the people of Los Angeles. Homelessness out of control, attacks on metro continue, rent ridiculously expensive and yet you’re in photo shoots with Olympic athletes. Get to work lady oh and stop hiring private independent contractors for audits the county already has a department for that stuff.
This Homeless encampment is under a bridge, far from buisnesses and schools, and sidewalks. Newsome is a coward, go do this on the streets, in skid row etc. Not under a bridge away from the real problem areas.
@@mcg1119 I don’t know where they come up with those figures. It doesn’t cost me that much per year to survive and I pay rent and bills and everything else .
That's what I've thought. There are actually whole small towns through-out the US empty with homes and buildings. For what it would cost to put them in jail they could utilize the empty places and use the money to help them re-habilitate and teach skills for the jobs that are in most demand. As far as drugs there are many people who do drugs and still function while working jobs. If they are really far gone on drugs then re-hab center should be available.
@@DovregubbentheEMMAStan Truly that is one of many sane and logical solutions no one will take. Maybe it's not dramatic enough to sell stories to the media.
@@rogermendez7266 everyone has to own something for survival. Maybe go to everyone's house and take away their needles and drugs so they stop selling it to the homeless.
Los Angeles should put the Homeless in jail not as criminals, but for use as a temporary housing. They can develop some kind of plan to segregate actual criminals from the homless to different areas of the jail. We're already paying taxes on the jail so why not utilize the jail as a temporary housing.
if not now when? And before no one wanted him to do anything. People are still complaining about this being "inhumane". Now the majority is finally fed up and wants something done. Let's just hope it keeps up. And the courts only allowed this in the first place recently.
