So I have had the camera for 24 hours plus and I think it’s great. Live view is a delay it’s not a true live view. Here is part one of the video • Nexar Beam 2 24hr upd... Want 15% off your Nexar order? thenexarshop.r...
Hey man, this is Eran (founder of Nexar). Thank you for reviewing our camera, for the honest feedback and also the kind words. It's truly appreciated. We have worked hard for a couple of years on the beam2 and I love that you love it! :) A couple of points - you're totally right that live view has an inherent delay compared to real time of around 20 seconds. We will continue to work on minimizing it over time. I hope to have more updates on that down the road. Super happy to hear your phone doesn't heat up anymore. It shouldn't as Nexar Connect, the new app, doesn't use much in the way of phone resources - you can see it also in the fact that it doesn't require almost any phone permissions. One point of clarification - when you review your drive's timelapse and want to watch a video clip, you actually have two ways of doing it: 1. the first way is to press the 'get high resolution clip' - this function allows you to trim the clip you are interested in, and then it will reach out to the camera over LTE, no matter where you are in the world and request the video clip. Once the camera finishes uploading the clip over LTE, you'll get notified and the clip will appear in your app. 2. The other way to access videos, as you describe, is by using the 'watch full video' function (or the 'dashcam access' button in the activity tab. This function connects locally to the dashcam through local wifi, which is useful if you want to download whole rides or very large clips which will take hours and won't be practical over LTE. It's also useful to when you need to access the camera footage but you're in an area without cellular reception (e.g. if you're stopped by the police in the middle of the desert..). Hope these clarifications help. Again, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback - all of it is welcomed. We are working hard precisely for customers like yourself. Thank you for choosing Nexar :)
Awesome! Thank you for the clarification on the access to the videos. I appreciate the information. I just made another video of the road view and cabin view I was really impressed of the quality.
question with the two ways of viewing clips and downloading them.. I like that theres two options local and over LTE... does nexar one work the same way? or is that unique to the bean 2? also how would the qulality compare given that this is 2k but with i assume better chip ect.
No lie I was looking at the nexar one Pro because it's worth the investment but ever since I seen the beam 2 with this "AI" there's been limited information on how it works and on the website the comparison between models just shows the Road/in Cabin and resolution difference. Also the website claims to give you $100 off on all of their models which they only give you $100 off the beam2. Overall not enough information or a phone number to call to find out exact difference also a temperature rating would be nice because it does get hot in the vehicle. I only got the nexar because my brother said it was worth the investment but overall I might just end up returning it because upon further research it makes me more confused on what model I truly want because it's not enough transparency between models, like does the nexar one pro have ai? a little frustrating but unless I could talk to someone I might end up returning it 🤷♂️ or I'll have to do my research between different models not just what the website tells you.. because honestly I didn't know that the beam 2 has a battery in it🤔 but they still recommend constant power. Does any of their other models have an extra battery in it?
I’ve had the first Beam cam for a few months now, I’m looking to getting the Beam 2. Just wondering, were you able to connect your CarPlay after getting it setup?
@@BackYardFishing305 thanks, one last question. I’ve read different things about it, but just making sure, do you have to connect to the cam (via wifi) to view drives or can you do it without turning on wifi (disconnecting CarPlay)?
I have the original beam and I’ve loved it. I like that it stores the full videos in the app. Does the beam 2 do that or do you need to subscribe to their cloud service?
@@BackYardFishing305 idk. I kinda like having all my videos in the app already without having to pay a subscription fee or download a video. The “live” view is a cool feature but kinda useless with a 20 second delay. I never really noticed my phone getting hot.
I have the Ring Car Cam. So should I stick with it? I like that the ring car cam has a cover for the inside camera for privacy and that I'm able to talk thru it live. Does the Beam 2 offer these features?
I haven’t used or reviewed the Ring Car Cam, but I have used other Nexar cameras and other brands and I’m still happy with my purchase. As far as a cover for the inside camera I have not seen or have I seen a way to turn it off how ever you can turn the audio off. Hope this helps thanks for the view!
Sadly the Nexar One and One Pro use the exact same cellular connectivity, LTE. Too many variables to explain the lag, but LTE cell service is well over 10-15 years old. It’s still good when you have full bars or even 2-3, but I’m not surprised about the lag. They should’ve done 5G. But since 5G technology varies per carrier, I’m wondering if it’s automatically switching to which of the big 3 has the best service? Or is it locked? I’m thinking it’s not locked and it chooses the best, and the only way to do that is through LTE.
One word: BlackVue, the best implemented cloud with almost not delay. All other systems with built-in connectivity don't even come close. Also ANY dash cam with built-in battery instead of capacitor is already a failure. It will get swollen short after loosing all charging capacity. Even if the new Beam2 can be hardwired, the battery still there and it will lump the dash cam enclosure. It happened to my Beam1 even when removing it from the windshield on hot days (CA summer) now the Beam2 is not removable from the mount so durability is questionable? -had similar experience with NextBase, Garmin with their built-in lithium batteries and it happend after only a few months. Being that said, not sure how I feel about the non-removable storage instead of SDCard, the latter you have to replace it every one in a while because it will get corrupted eventually. I wonder how the internal memory will handle this wear and tear? I do like the new design with in-cabin view on the new Beam2, but I don't think is a good buy if if will get swollen within a year due to the internal battery expanding like what happend to Beam version 1 --just my 2c
