Nexon has recently declared that they believe that The Finals have been underperforming! The Finals is published by Nexon subsidiary Embark Studios, so Nexon declared that they're expecting a better result when Season 3 is starting in June. I'll talk about what impact these news might have for the future development of The Finals, and what I believe could boost the The Finals player count!

The Finals player count has been going down since the launch about five months ago, and the publisher (Nexon) has declared that they believe that the game is underperforming. nexon didnt say that they actually only considered it in low performance on the asia servers, please stop making the only new fun game die

If The Finals dies, then it simply means that they haven't been able to catch an audience (big enough). That's the harsh truth. I do not want the game to die, but I can also see the problems that The Finals have been facing for quite some time, something I've talked about in former videos. I'm therefore trying to give constructive criticism, ways to gain more players and make more newcomers stay in the game. I believe in being open about these things, both the good and the bad stuff. Usually that pays off in the long run. Please let me know where I can read about "low performance on Asia servers" only :)

I agree. It's only not meeting EXPECTATIONS in Asia. Who cares. It's doing well in all other countries.

@@zesound Thanks for your comment, although The Finals aren't doing that great in a global perspective (not only in Asia). I believe the decreasing player count since launch shows exactly that. Hopefully Season 3 will be good, so it stabilizes.

Nexon is not the publisher of the Finals, Embark is. Nexon just owns Embark. like how Tencent owns Riot games but is not the publisher of League of legends.

Thanks for your comment! Maybe the meta has changed some since I last played, but as a whole I would guess the light class..?

I agree that the lack of new content is likely what's a cause for the lack of attraction to new players, I also think that the general premise behind carrying a vault and defending or attacking may not be for everyone as opposed to gamemodes that most FPS players are familiar with such as the very basic TDM or a domination/zone capture type of modes which are easy to grasp and work so well. The balancing issues have been frustrating for many players myself included who participate in and grind the ranked gamemode; however, I feel that we may be a loud minority in a sense that we have a decent amount of comp players, but the overall decrease in players is likely attributed to casual players losing interest or simply trying it out -> being confused/opposed to the gamemode(s) -> leaving to go back to their main game(s). I think complaining about balancing changes is just and I do it myself, but overall I think that many content creators are assuming that the primary reason for The Finals decline in player count is due to balancing decisions. I'd like to make my own video on my thoughts regarding the "games state", but I feel like everything to be said has been said by at least a few other content creators and I'm not sure that dogging on the game is the best way to try and attract new players to the game. Thanks for your comment! I believe you describe the situation well, and I also believe that bashing down on the class balance to much and to often, not really gonna help out the game in the long run. With that said, there's always improvements to be made, but right now, The Finals needs to find a way to keep more casual players in their game, and one way of doing that is to add more straight forward "easy to understand2 game modes. Could also work as variation for those players that are already playing a lot.

It is mostly underperforming in asian markets and that is likely do the blatant cheating problems they had until recently. As some have stated before, nexon isn’t the publisher, Embark is self-publishing, making their own choices and only feeding back stuff to Nexon as they own the majority of Embark. I understand there is some stuff to say about it, but making a video on half the facts only shows a lack of dedication in producing the video.

I've been reading quite a few posts on the topic when making this video, but I can't see anywhere that the report is only "targeting" the results on the Asian market. (The game is published by Nexon subsidiary Embark Studios).

That is true. The player count has unfortunately continued to go down, also on other platforms as seen on for example activeplayer.io: activeplayer.io/the-finals/

Thanks for your feedback! Yes, some games are a bit more "taxing" when it comes to playing multiplayer. The Finals is one of them :)

I don't hate it at all. Embark Studios has been trying to do something a bit "original", but by doing so, there will also be challenges that comes with it. I hope they will be able to turn the trend around, maybe by open up the concept a bit by adding some more "normal" casual game modes that might be easier to grasp for casual/new players.

all that talking for what? u forgot the msot important part. no deathmatch??? no big teams mode? yeah..they've added the 5v5 recently but i feel it should've been at least 6v6 and maybe even a 12v12 would be something. other unique maps and game mods///also cheatersssssssss

Thanks for your comment! I talk about alternative game modes later in the video, since I would like to see "normal" casual game modes that has been proven to work before, such as FFA, TDM, Domination etc.

that cash in game mode is just too hard for casuals/new players to understand and play together. and it's very frustrating to stay in the game when your other 2 team mates simply don't know what to do, while the other teams feel like NBA all-star teams. i want team death match so i can get used to the util and the guns. currently the only fun mode is that moving platform.
