Great video Pond. Since Covid, I started buying one bb of each set. This served me well as have an ES box, but I also remember paying £80 for shining fates etb. Lesson learnt! One or two bb’s soon builds up after a few years.
I think I share the same sentiment with Shrouded Fable - only the Greninja/Kingdra promos will do well. The rest of the set really isn't worth buying in to. I have a gut feeling the Greninja will be more expensive than the kingdra because of the success of the TWM greninja, but I really can't put an evaluation to it. I would be surprised if either promo sells for less than $10 a month after release. It's interesting to hear SFA might get a short-print in the US - that could increase uncertainty around the price of those promos. I don't know if I have had enough time to review Stellar Crown yet, so I can't say I have the same confidence in the set as you do at this moment. I'd like to hear more about pull rates within SFA, and supply/distro numbers for SCR before looking for a preorder. I 100% think you're correct in that we are FINALLY at a point - a golden age - of getting cheap preorders that aren't getting chewed up immediately by the masses. I hope this sticks around for the next few SV sets, because I think we're definitely in the stride of SV - these next few sets are absolutely critical to get our hands on!
Great video. Not sure I agree with the other comments about “overhyping” sets. Pokemon TCG is fun to collect, people should get hyped and buy the set if they love it. Just understand that there will be fluctuating prices if you plan to invest. Everyone was pooping on masquerade and now look at it.. wasn’t overhyped before release, yet demand raised the price. Doesn’t matter if you hype it or not. Cool cards are gonna pull cool prices 😎
A little late but I get a case of each set to keep as an investment. For sets that don't have a booster box like 151 I have 3 UPCs as my investment. For sets like paldean fates which don't have a UPC type product I just got a few pokemon centre ETBs. I don't order takeout/delivery. I don't drink alcohol either and that saves a lot a lot of money which funds most of these purchases.

Like every other set, this thing will fluctuate up and down for two or three years before it even does anything. I don’t know why Pokémon investment channels mislead people about new sets being investments. Are you working with a distributor or something? A lot of people with stores will try to act like new sets are investable. New sets are for opening a few packs not for investing
With how things are going, no reason not to get the preorder deals all over the place at this point. Normally, I'm like what you said and hold off, but the market has shifted so fast that it's actually worth it buying early at the moment. With you 100% here. And the Fusion Strike ETB's just sold out on PC 📈
I've got a lot of variety of product, such as crown z and evolving skies, but also some booster box cases (PR and BS mostly). I think going forward I will put the remaining budget into english 151. Especially when it gets reprinted and restocked. I can't imagine any other set having a better ROI down the line.
Stock on PC UK is slowly going down. Ive been keeping eyes on the eeveelutions tins, great deals on those! But only Jolteon left now. I grab these quite a bit, not the best thing for storing, but the contents make them such a deal, in my eyes.
Appreciate your honesty with what didn't go well for you instead of making out every investment is a winner. I am brand new to collecting/investing. I just grabbed a Shining Stars BB as my first investment. I am torn between sealed FS or going for a below RRP Stellar Crown pre-order at the moment.
It depends where you are, if you are UK and can get FS for retail if not Id go ultra modern. Buy what makes you feel good though. Thats super important! 👍

I have to disagree! You sound a lot like FOMO in this one, mate. Don’t buy on release! 1 year after is the first entry point, proven by history. Also name a Gen 9 Pokemon with a popular card (paradox doesn’t count). I can’t see Terapagos carrying the set!
Do you think your going to pickup Stellar Crown for 20% under retail in a years time? We are in a new era of discounted pre release. That never happened in the past.
