Just enjoy it and soak it up, well done troops and enjoy your time

A very interesting trilogy of vlogs that emphasised the cohesive importance of comradness within the armed forces. The final vlog laid bear the humanity of the recruits passing out. The memories of the bonds established in boot camp will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Moreover, it is ultimately the reason why a unit, any unit, functions under stressful conditions, we are one, my mates and me. Excellent vlogs capturing the essence of service life.

I really enjoyed my 18 years in the Army, got to travel all over and go on many operational tours! Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan and with the UN. the only downside was when i was made redundant in 2012. Out in 12 months with not even a hand shake at the end of it! just remember once you are out you are out and you are only a number at the end of the day! you are always replaceable and no matter how long you are in you will not be prepared for life in Civvi Street as they will not give you actual resettlement training that will help you!

I recently attended my youngest son's pass-out at Pirbright, I was impressed with the fact that weapon handling and fieldcraft takes up much more of the curriculum's time than it did in my day (70's) when drill was king ( in basic anyway). But drill in SHOES instead of best boots is an abomination.

If they want female paras and infantry soldiers let them do it but form female exclusively units only so they can pump their ego and safe make soldiers life who will ALWAYS threat a woman as a woman and risk their lives and mission to save that lil 😾 who thinks she can keep up with male soldiers in real combat. I served as a Jnr Ldr RA in 88, injury forced me to leave. Do reinlisted into RCT (now RLC) in Sept 89, and badics in Regulars just before 18th birthday in Jan 90. Passed out best recruit, and although over 30 yrs ago. I still remember that day on the Drill Square. I did r very happy years in The RCT Maritime trade, as a Seaman. 20 Maritime Regt RCT (disbanded 89), but Maritime training wing still there, and 17 Port & Maritime Regt RCT were great proud Regts to be part of. Being attached to 3rd Commando Brigade RM was always fun. I joined TA 63 SAS Sigs Sqn in 02, broke my back on pre selection course doing a charity parachute jump on a weekend off. I'm proud to have worn All 3 cap badges, but the RCT Maritime was just great. Serving at Sea was amazing on Landing Craft, Mexeflote rafts, Tug boats, and small fast patrol boats and ribs. As you get older, you young recruits, and newly trained soldiers, will join a very long and proud line of brethren. Once a Soldier always a soldier. You'll find that although your era is different to those before, and those after. A few things are always the same. Drill is Drill, PT is torture (unless sick in the head like me, as loved it), Scran is still slop, volunteering is a no no, greyman (greyperson) is the best warrior. The Troop Cpls and Sgts will always beast you, and shout. But become great mates after training. The SSM is scary, and RSM still God lol. This was the same from Pre Waterloo to Rorkes Drift, the Boer War to the World Wars, Korea, Falklands, First and 2nd Gulfs, Afghan and everyone in between, and beyond. That's the beauty. I've chatted to WW1 vets to younger Afghan vets. Our technology and discipline has changed. Every era will state the previous had it really tough, you own era tough, and future eras had it easy. Banter of yester year would be throwned upon today, but banter will always be banter. No civvy will ever know or understand our eccentric ways. We all from different eras in the history of the Military timeline. With every race, colour, crede, sex, and religion, known to humanity. What unites us, is we all swore the Oath, took the Queens shilling, and passed basic training, to join the best Military in the world. I know this video is old, but what they have endured - I endured, My Dad, Grandad, Great Grandad, and beyond endured. So will you who are joining will endure. You will endure Day 1 - til pass out. You will be ran ragged every step of the way by instructors that also endured what you are about to go through. Remember everything is for your growth into being the next generation of soldiers. At the time you will laugh, cry, scream in pain, but after, and esp decades after. You will look back with the same pride we old vets have. Knowing we realise it was the making of us, and the best period in our lives. It transformed us from civvy to squaddie. From us who Served - Respect to those Serving - or about to Serve. We are All proud of you.

In answer to the question you’re video posed, I didn’t regret joining in anyway. In fact, it’s been a very positive force in my life, 21 years ago I passed out of Pirbright in 1999. I am no longer in the Army. (Left in 2013) I now run three small IT Nuclear networks for a client as a senior consultant. I won’t have had my current success without my time in the Army so it’s still a gift that keeps giving. (I also had the privilege to be a instructor at phase 2) although I am now Guildford based, I do go by Pirbright from time to time! It brings back memories of that time in 1999

Liam Robinson I am one of the lucky ones, I have had a lot of luck with work it’s gone for success to success however I did have a bit of a bad year in 2017 but it’s generally been a fairly positive experience in the civvy life (I know I am the exception not the norm in a lot of cases) But to answer your question directly, I formed a plan two years before. I left on what I wanted to do. When I did the seven clicks to freedom, as it was completely different from anything I had ever done so I had to learn from scratch. But the second question. I asked myself is this a realistic plan/goals. If that’s all a yes then it’s down to you.

Wonderful. Somehow, can’t we have the females in their equivalent of trousers? I mean, if they’re carrying rifles(?) Sort of “at the ready’ equivalent with the lads. Yes, yes, I know about the kilt thing, but then they’re all wearing kilts. All trousers would be more uniform.

My most vivid memory of Pirbright was watching the prisoner getting drifted down Adair Walk as he marked time the blanket on top of his large pack bouncing ten to the dozen.I remember saying to myself I that's never me,needless to say it never happened how relieved was I? I did a years training as a boy Soldier i passed out in June but because some of us took part in Trooping The Colour June 1980 we did our Battle Camp as Trained Soldiers. If anyone is reading this I hope it inspires you to join up.I joined the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards in 1982 we were in the Falkland islands we fought on Mount Tumbledown.

the tunic is smart, but ruined by the silly white belt. the belt should be same colour and attached to the tunic
