Honestly I'm not sure. It doesn't have to be someone crazy tho coz I think Southgate did well to get them believing again and usher in a new era so now they just need someone who can get them to play better tactically. Similar to the evolution Spain had from Lucho to De La Fuente albeit it was accidental since Spain sort of stumbled on De La Fuente. So now England needs that figure who will do something similar and that's not necessarily winning a tournament for them but getting them to add some attacking venom to their current style where you retain that defensive stability but add some venom to where England can put away teams using the resources they have rather than trying to force players into an XI. Brazil also gonna be needing a similar figure.

In my opinion, the first 2 major tournaments England participated under Gareth Southgate should have been the biggest chances for them to win. England might have lost the Euro 2024 Final because of Spain's war machine. In Croatia's game, Harry Kane allowed his ball to hit the post after a rebound instead of crossing through Raheem Sterling. In Italy's game, after Luke Shaw's quick stunner, long balls were England's next plan and they were allowed Italy to score an equalizer. Then, Gareth Southgate decided to not select Raheem Sterling and Jack Grealish as penalty kickers, with 3 English Black players being selected, which were undeserved.

I mean Lee carsley won the u21 world cup he would be their De la Fuente option. Pochettino would be interesting. Touchal, yes, he was absolutely dead at bayern, but he has a winning mentality. Potter is a big risk. Howe is the traditional option. Or even a Jurgen klopp is for hire 🤔 imo i say Pochettino or howe

I'm not English nor British. Why not go with continuity with Lee Carsley? Isn't that what Spain did with the lesser known Sr De La Fuente who worked with many of the senior players at youth level.

2018 World Cup: 4th Euro 2020 (2021): 🥈 2022 World Cup: Quarterfinals Euro 2024: 🥈 Taken into perspective, he’s been the most successful England manager in a long while. I do agree that he’s had his time and England needs a new and hopefully better direction. What I believe deserves equal credit is the fact that this England team are more of a national team in the literal sense, whereas the “Golden Generation” was largely hampered by club rivalries and everyone looking out for themselves. The DNA of English football will always be one of more individualism and as you have put it, England will always be more of a “moments team” than say Spain. It’s just as much the cultural DNA as it is the football. The first priority England should have is to form a more coherent attacking structure and be more proactive in possession and transition. England needs a coherent playing style that suits its own skin. Entirely or largely emulating a different style that can really only be effective with the underlying cultural characteristics will also be a mistake, as we saw with Germany which tried to play Spain’s possession football. Spain did not so much “abandon” tiki taka, but realized relying on it alone led to few chances and a lack of a game plan when they weren’t in possession. This pressing while retaining elements of tiki taka we saw this time in their performances has been far more effective, the best of both worlds. No matter how much a team like Germany tried to use that style, it didn’t and couldn’t work out because Germanic and Latin cultures are different in nature and the Spanish tiki-taka is only effective not just with the right kinds of players, but a more collective-oriented culture that lets the group of players have a fairly intimate knowledge of each other’s passing styles and movements. England needs its own style that suits the nature of its players and the wider culture. The English media also has to let the pros just do their job. I’m increasingly convinced that England might actually win for once *if* there isn’t so much pressure placed on them before the tournament. The chances of that actually happening though? Your guess is as good as mine. A lot of comes down to the EPL as the most well-marketed league out of all the big leagues. While the other big national leagues are also driven by a large football culture, it’s the advertising and mass marketing that really makes a difference for the EPL and not necessarily for the better as it exposes the players constantly in the spotlight whether they want it or not to a bigger degree than players in the other leagues. And this carries into the national team.

Southgate definitely screwed up with Euro 2020 final. England were on top for the first 30 mins and should've chased that 2nd goal. His pen taker selection was naive and daft. He got away with Maguire scoring and Pickford making 2 saves, but the 3 guys who missed should've not have been taking those pens. Why not Sterling and Grealish? As for 2018 and 2022 WC, Kane should've crossed to Sterling against Croatia. Kane should've asked someone else to take the 2nd pen against France, but refused because of his ego. Southgate's deference to his favourite players and sentimentality costed him horribly. As for the last euro 2024 final, we never looked like winning against Spain from minute 1.

England needs to develop coaches. Very poor when you consider all the premier league past winners have been foreign (Sir Alex was Scottish). There has been no English coach that has won anything in Europe in either club or country since the early 90s. The best coaches currently come from Spain, Italy and Germany.

So now we’re turning international football into a club football where any international football team can have a German coach in an English team. What made/makes international football beautiful is u loose or win with ur own n u can’t buy ur way out of it like club football. FIFA/UEFA should ban it. It is a disgusting rule where the bigger teams will have the advantage bc they have the money.
