Another thing: whenever your opponent activates high pressure, your players will just allow the opposition players to stand in front of them without moving into space. So you literally have zero passing options

Probably played my last champs last week, and it finally dawned on me. You literally get punished for playing tiki-taka or passing too much. This game rewards you for going back and wiggling your way into a L1 triangle pass or scoring a sweaty extra pass goal. It would be a joke to call this a football game. Hopefully after 23 there will be better alternatives.

I've felt like a junkie playing this game cuz I know it's bad and there I go back to it. Every single point you stated cannot be debated and damn you hit the spot with the anxiety thing. For real getting anxious over a game instead of having fun? Screw me, boys. This video is essentially the Fifa bible.

This is facts facts & facts. Someone actually speaking the truth. Especially when you said "card collector game". My whole team is basically untradeable, I saved 1.5M coins to buy mid Gullit because I didn't know what else to do lmao. Spend more time on the menus than actually playing games.

I agree 100% and feel you on the “anxiety” of starting a game. I know that if I start a game and the gameplay feels good, I will play a decent and be happy with the results regardless. But there is always that thought of getting into a game where the passes are bad. Players are sluggish and unresponsive. By the end of the game I now no longer want to play.

This is my first fifa title and I've never experienced this much of anxiety and anger in a video game ever.

I haven’t played FUT at all this year and it was a great decision. Hadn’t played fut for years, but went back last year because of lockdown. I didn’t realise how much time it took up. To stay ahead of the manufactured curve it’s like having a 2nd job. Listing players, keeping track of the market, wasting time on getting decent bids in, sbcs and challenges etc… is too much. To make it all worse, at the end of the season you start from scratch again. On top of that, the game is just so frustrating. The sudden momentum changes at half time are dumb. The fact that high pressure from an opp makes your whole team turn to shit and unable to pass is dumb too. Of anyone is reading this, just quit and play seasons or career mode. Still flawed, but at least you don’t waste hours doing admin to get players.

Agree completely. I uninstalled the game midway through TOTS and I've never been happier. Honestly its more entertaining watching the content than actually playing.

100% agree with you. I always try to watch tactical analysis videos and bring it to the game but it just doesn’t work in this trash game. I got inspired by chelsea tactics so I play 3421, 4141,433 for most of the time and even tried Tiki-Taka however my players can’t move properly even with certain instructions especially vs park the bus AI. The first 1-2 months of the game actually was so much fun for me because everyone have to use rare gold, a lot of ppl would be able to use players like Lukaku Haaland…it brings some unique characteristics but after 1-2 patches, the game is shit again.

This is easily the best video I’ve seen from you and my respect for you has rocketed. It’s a great relief that someone with a huge voice in the fifa community can be outspoken about the many issues that “normal” players struggle with every day. Your point about it being a card collector game where people log on to open packs and complete sbcs and then not even use the players in matches really hits home on the state of the gameplay. I also loved your quote “I win I feel nothing, I lose I feel nothing” because that’s so true. I feel like I grind futchamps for hours each weekend desperately trying to get 14 wins but when I finally do I don’t feel joy or relief or satisfaction… I feel nothing.

Agreed, everything is on point here. I thought I would watch a couple mins but I ended up seeing this whole vid; constantly nodding in agreement the entire time. So cathartic to listen to someone summarize all of my frustration that has built up. I am a true addict of this game and a fool. I pay a ridiculous price every year for a terribly made 'video game' (fixed: ai simulator). With the awful servers EA has, I even tried buying a decent CAT ethernet cable for my xbox, and even high speed the game feels about 2 seconds delay. Ive been playing FIFA these last how many years as an escape from work and stress of the accounting world. The fact I, like many of you, get ANXIETY over a game is truly crazy. I know its a pipe dream but I wish enough of us could boycott next year.

I agree with everything you said. This game has caused me so much unnecessary stress cuz of all the dumb shit that happens in game. Inconsistent gameplay and basically being punished for manually defending drives me insane lol. And don’t even get me started on the keepers it’s actually wild when you’re using literally the same exact keeper as your opponent and their keeper is Jesus walking on water in goal and my keeper playing like Hellen Keller. Insanity lol

you cant possible imagine how much i agree. all the problems you menthioned is the ones i was telling my friend about. the anxiety for the gameplay, the need to play and to fill matches objectives etc regardless if i enjoy it or not. fifa seems that became something i have to do rather than enjoying playing. i i dont do this or that i will be behind etc. KEEP up the good work bro. this video NEEDS to be seen by everyone.

Preach it Inception. As somebody that played and now coaches football at a high level, I can’t play this absolutely brain dead game. People are rewarded for play styles irl that, A - would never happen and B - would never work even if you tried. It’s a disgrace and I get so so frustrated losing games for ACTUALLY TRYING TO PLAY FOOTBALL. It’s just awful.

I play pro club also and there the gameplay is always consistent. It’s actually crazy how different dribbling feels when you switch directly to FUT and players with better stats than your character feel terrible and you have constant delay.

i feel this so much. last night i wanted to finish my WL , 12 games. in every game i had more x goals than my opponent , sometimes like 6 or 8 and they had 1 but the final score was 3-1 for them. because prime cantona , ronaldinho or potm mbappe somehow managed to glitch through my defenders or i was about to get the ball from them but it bounced to their next player for an open net. not to talk about my gk (lloris tots) who just layed down in 1vs1 against the striker , so they just had to shoot and not even chip to get the ball over him. but there where countless times alisson did miracle saves, sometimes up to 3 in a row to save my opponents ass. it is so hard to accept this bs.

Thanks Inception. You always talk about how frustrating this game play is and that is how it is supposed to be. RU-vidr/content creators for Fifa should all follow your lead. We as players cannot let EA listen, Their game play has been horrible for years and EA is mostly focusing on making money boring content when GAME PLAY is the most important thing. Thanks again!

what you said about starting up the game with anxiety not knowing what the gameplays gonna be like, I fully felt that. a game should never make you feel like that. tbh if I didn’t pack red tots Mbappe I wouldn’t be playing this game at all. I was coming from a 6 game losing streak. I played with a LaLiga gold squad against someone with a team full of icons. 99 pele, 97 Ronaldo, etc.. you get the point. My best player was 89 Benzema. I was smoking him 5-0. I quit the game at the 80 minute. I could tell I was being helped. My 89 Benzema felt like he had 99 pace and I was scoring volleys from outside the box. It felt a little disgusting and was surprised my opponent stayed in the game. I left and will continue to leave when I know FIFA is giving me a free win only because they though it was my turn to win after coming from a losing streak. The people that know tactics and proper instructions should benefit. The people apply constant pressure should also benefit, but if you are applying constant pressure all game then I want my gold Vinicius with a full green bar to rip 92 flashback Varanes asshole when his stamina bar red and completely depleted. I’ve played many games when all my players have full green stamina bars and my opponent players should be dead on the field. They still catch up to me and perform and perfect tackle. It’s a sad situation.

These devs are so incompetent imagine trying to develop for all these different versions of the game, definition of spreading yourself too thin. I’m new to fut bout 3yrs now and it e followed since that time, luv your reviews, thanks for the 3412 it works, you’re quite correct in this game and it’s the same on old gen, everything u said happens the game no longer feels like you’re playing actual futbol, it just comes down to playing a game with overpowered players and skill moves and the AI really sucks it has too much control over the game, this AI determines how the game plays on how fast u move, attack or defend and this happens even in squad battles which is absolutely ridiculous, anyhow keep the good work up man.

Also I use the AirJapes 3412 and I have to say it's the most fun formation I've used this year. Granted I do concede a little more than in other formations but I don't care as I'm having fun. You summed up my experience with this game , is the worst football simulator where they get people addicted to opening packs (gamble) , the gameplay is inconsistent, its a 100% pay to win with the attacking ai only good to expensive cards , which you will only pack if you dedicate an insane amount of time to the game . When a video game is stressful to play like ultimate team its not video game anymore its just an addiction, people take it way to seriously at the point where they send you hateful messages. This is my first and last ultimate team i will ever touch.

I totally agree with you about everything especially the part when opponents activates the high pressure. It just screw up your AI. Damn it happens to me plenty of time, my team is 95rated play 99 dribbling almost at every forward and midfield players somehow it just feels like ass. I was leading 3-1/4-2 and you just hope to kick the ball out and win headers when high pressure is on. And my player doesn’t even wanna do anything to counter it sometimes.

I'll be honest, it might be weird but i'd rather them stop doing these promos constantly. All these promos just kill the market and make fifa feel like a dead game. It would be way better without the promos, so using gold cards would be totally normal, and gullit gang cards were rare and valuable (just like in old fifas). Players like ronaldo and messi etc. should be hard to get as they are the best players in the world. I would rather people running around with sweaty low rated cards and having to work up to buying a player like son etc (who again should be 100's 0f thousands of coins). It would make the game more enjoyable as you would feel achieved if you managed to buy a decnt card. So imo, i think taking out the promos and limiting the sbc's would refresh the game and make it more enjoyable having to work for good cards, unlike now where you can buy ronaldo for under 100k which is crazy.

True. We play a game to enjoy and take a break from our tedious lives and instead get anxiety and anger. Your points on the AI, manual goalkeeping, gameplay are exactly on point. I use the 3412 formation with your custom tactics to enjoy the game as much as possible, but when the gameplay is bad, I can hardly make a pass from the defender to any of my midfielders. I think I will be uninstalling the game soon.

Hey man, you should try out this tactic. You can try tiki taka with this. Got me better results than the 41212 or 353 for the simple fact that others are not accustomed to defending against it. 433(5) -CF stay central and balanced -LW & RW get in behind and stay forward (the one to make runs cutting inside towards the box) -One of the CM on push forward -The other CM on cover center -CDM stay back and cover center -CBs balanced -LB or RB push forward and the other stay back/ both stay back for a more defensive style. Defense (pressure on heavy touch/balanced) -Width: 45 -Depth: 45 Attack (through balls and long passing) -Width: 65 You need a CF with good passing and 5*WF, a box to box CM and an almighty CDM. This is good to open up spaces, crossing and taking pressure off your players cause there are always good passing opportunities from someone making a run or someone who's spread out at the wings cause of that 65 width.

Yea its so sad i probably completed my end game team and its beautiful to look at it in the menu but when im actually in game and i have to score with Leao i paid 1.4 mil for it feels cluncky and a waste of coins i grinded months for smh.

this might be the best hour I’ve ever spent watching a video. From start to beginning I felt every bit of this rant. From unrewarding to toxicity this game as a title as led me to have crippling depression :)

I love football (ha!) and i have loved playing fifa for almost 2 decades now. This year has made me want to stop. This is the most unrewarding and anxiety inducing game i have ever played. Not even going to mention the gameplay. I have won against 194 squads and have lost against 187 squads because of gameplay mechanics. I have tried to ignore everything because i love the game but i cannot defend it this year, it is horrible to play. I also 100% agree with Inception about wanting to play FOOTBALL in a game based on FOOTBALL and not just learn certain mechanics to just score goals to win. Winning doesn't give me shit either way this year so yea. Glad to know there are others experiencing this. Sure wish we didn't have to though, when all we want is to play football.

Inception. Thank you for all the reviews you have done over the years. Helped a lot and I praised you, so many times, using the players you said I should. Personally I will end with FIFA 22 playing FIFA. The grind is not worth it. What EA does is make it not worth it if you don't spend a lot of cash in the game. Every time you make a win, you get the good card, it is devalued by another card that very very soon comes out and nullifies it. I understand that, its their business, but it will be without me. The slowdowns, the lagg, the input delay, no thank you. For 5 years this issue has been going on. Almost all games for me have bad connection. Its just frustration. Some days, when the connection is good, I really enjoyed the game. I played since FIFA 98. I played FUT since 2013. I will go back to old days of career mode or not play at all. All the issues coupled with the feeling of "boosting" where the game boosts the oponents (it might be related to connection issue), have done it finally for me. I am too old for this s... I wish you luck and a lot of success in continuing your career. From time to time I will jump in the channel to check out what is going on. :) Benzea AI marked this season for me + I scored 100 headers at least with him, and I didn't play 250 games with him :D

Absolutely spot on in that I end up in an attacking position, spam a bounce pass because i know how the game is random and it works too often for me not to use it, despite the pass not really being on. It's sad, as much as I want to play efficient smooth looking playstyle - spent too much time attempting that with zero success

Stopped playing the game before tots, decided I should sus it out. Have around 1 mil coins to build a team but everytime I want to build a team I get bored asf just looking at the menus so I turn off the game

The constant pressure thing is so bad because even if you play the game with the composure of prime iniesta the game will make your player misplace the pass and that’s then if the player has a higher composure stat. I miss consistent finishing like you can’t score a composed finesse shot from 5 yards out but you can score one from outside the box literally makes no sense

Manual goalkeeping was good in the beginning of 19 when the finesse shots were OP. It actually made the game feel balanced. Because there was a way to counter the OP tactic and it was a manual action.

Actually both old and new gen, I feel the same. They have shown the connectivity report but it's nothing to do with my network. I play under ~2ms everygame but gameplay varies each game. Just try shoot/pass cancel. If you can't perform, it's probably a sluggish game. Or ball roll scroop turn , for a player who trained so hard on skill, the skill move never performs in the same way. The passing in sluggish game mode is horrible. They always lock into the wrong player. Football is my habit, and there's no other substitute. FIFA 23 will be the same as EA has no incentive to push another engine before launching their brand new EA SPORT. Now I am just building the squad I like and don't go for meta card. Meta card is not performing in the sluggish game therefore I find no reason to use them at all. I am in the elite division and facing every meta squad almost every game makes me feel that's not fun at all. Afterall, there's no other alternative. I just love football. For those pro players, I am really amazed how they win all their weekend champ and keep winning in sluggish gameplay. I just wonder how they cope with the slow gameplay to be honest.

Agreed 100%. Played champs on Saturday morning (uk time) as it was the only free time I had last weekend. Game play was so bad my defenders (Marquinhos tots & fb Ramos) did not move to the ball so the opposition's strikers ran past them with no skill and scored everytime. I finished 10 & 10 last week, usually 15 & 5 or above. Won't be playing champs on a Saturday morning ever again. It's the only game I have to work around EA's timelines In search of good game play 🙈

I love all the content you produce Mr. Inception, and you remained the only YT FIFA creator I didn’t unsubscribe after I finished last weekend league - not because I agree with you, but because you’re honest. After two years of playing FIFA, I reached my goal and got to elite div and I quit for all reasons you mentioned. For me specifically two things to complement list of “idiotic” and “illogical” BS this game is full of: - FUT is (or should be) about building better and better teams to get higher in rank, whereas it doesn’t make any sense if your polished team is fu because of the gameplay. Even”best” players move like trucks (as you said it) - My play style is not about skillz, it’s passes. 90% of stuff in this game is running across the pitch with ball and passes, therefore I was building my teams around players with high WF and passing stats, yet it was all for nothing as AI and gameplay doesn’t allow me to enjoy nice passing Again, thank u for everything u do!

Didn’t play three months and when I came back to play the game again I felt my players were not moving, so thought something’s wrong with my controller and got a new one for 5000k Rupees and after getting it the result was the same. My old controller was completely fine it was JUST THE GAME!! EA have to realise they won’t stay in the market for another 5 years if they take casually their gameplay.

Man this is 100% my feeling with the next gen version of fifa & none of my friends believe me when i say it’s horrible to play.

I use to enjoy double triangle and double x passes that broke down defense, now the ai defending literally block every single pass is horrible. You HAVE to play like a rat to win and enjoy this game.

This is comedy because I have this same rant every weekend after I finish fut champs. Fifa has turned into NBA 2k where everything is crazy AI oriented and animation based.

I try and play normally, but even setting all four defenders AND my CDM on 'Stay back while attacking', i still see counters facing only my two CBs on my side of the halfway line with the others still on the opposing team's midfield for whatever reason. I NEED to put Drop Back and a very deep defensive line in my tactics because the alternative is Park the Bus to get the AI to hold back enough players to properly contain a counter.

Thanks for the video. I absolutely felt AI fixing such as low accuracy, slow response on different periods of matches. I was in doubt since 2015 version but every year I felt it getting worse and can be easily noticed. Lost interest on ultimate team since 2016 and stopped playing it. I only played regular matches with my friends. I came back in 23 because of the SBC fun challenge but still the AI fixing is there and very annoying. Thanks for the content

Finally courage and balls to speak the real problem and issues with fifa and ea. all you RU-vidrs need to speak up lead the community so we can make EA give us a working product. All those problems in gameplay and not playable it’s not a card game it’s soccer. Ea and there lies lies and manipulation and every year lie the hyper motion and reward everything. You can’t even beat the ai on professional difficulty they play and run like maniacs bronze silver cards are catching up and stopping Ronaldo Messi pele etc. is there even a meaning when you have special cards with 95 and up overall. All I can say squad battles on world class against any team you will see exactly what he is talking about. Even in offline season when you play AI is to powerful even a bronze bronze bronze goalkeeper will play a striker and dribble 5 star skills and score fines shots and run like Mbape.

Since Fifa 19, EA has been making each following editions more and more defensive. The game isn’t just fun when the AI is better defensively than offensively. It got worse with everyone having 93+ defenders and defensive mids I just couldn’t and stopped playing.

The only game that you can win & still feel p***ed off, the dread you feel when you go 2-0 up in the first 30 minutes. I could go on but my man covers all the wrongs with this game. I don’t take this game seriously anymore because it’s not fit for purpose. Great video bro 👊🏾

7:15 is so accurate.😂 It's literally a gamble every time where I either play it and gameplay is ok or its bad and it ruins the rest of my day and puts me in a bad mood... Also, if gameplay is good...I have to stop playing at a certain point before it in fear that it's going to get worse.

The 1st 3-4 weeks of this years FIFA was the best game that we've had gameplay wise for a long time (although that's not saying much), and even then the game was still pretty meh. Since then, like every year, it's nothing but downhill. An update here, overpowered players sprinkled here and there, more updates to compensate for said players and the game turns to absolute s***e. I have the best team I've EVER had, having played since UT was released on FIFA 09. I literally have a team people dream about having and I'm having less fun now than I did at the beginning of the year, using gold cards. It's almost as though the better the cards that are released, the more the game get's exposed for how bad it truly is. Thanks for continuing to post content Inception, it's appreciated by those of us that truly care about wanting a good game 😔 For those wondering, this is my current team. A team that I should be able to have fun with EVERY game; Moments VDS; TOTY Cancelo, TOTS Militao, TOTY Marquinhos, Showdown Da Costa; Moments Vieira, TOTS Kimmich, TOTS Vini, Prime Maradona; Prime R9, TOTS CR7.

I live in Western Australia so I’m forced to play with at least 60 ping at all times. Most of the time it’s at 100 for no apparent reason, which only happens in fifa. Playing with this lag is borderline unplayable. Sometimes I feel like I’m cracked and that all my passes are working, other times when I start up a game I can instantly can tell that I’m not going to have fun. I feel like I have no control over the game and that these insane players that I was lucky to have earned are worth nothing. When gold Maguire catches up to TOTS Nkunku, molests him from behind and walks away as if nothing happened, I can’t help but feel ripped off.

Guys I’ve a theory please let me know your thoughts on same. I feel like it’s not just the patch. The reason why the gameplay feels responsive during the early days could be that there are less players during the start of the game. We can’t ignore the fact that not everyone can buy this game day one. People usually buy this game during sales which usually occur 2-3 months later launch. This is also backed up by the fact that we find it more responsive during the night or early in the mornings when active players are really less. The main reason I believe for the inconsistent gameplay is because EA refuses to invest in server infrastructure. I’m not really sure whether if they use AWS or something else. But I feel like they should really increase their budget for infra at all cost. They need to scale both horizontally and vertically in order to handle all these players from so many regions. Not to forget this is not at all cheap and would definitely eat up lot of their profits which is why they’re so hesitant.

There is no other game that encourages and rewards sweating so much. The game promotes a shit mentality over high skills…

I've only started getting better at this game after learning to estimate how early you need to input an action before you want it to happen. It's a weird combination of distance from the ball, input and animation delay and a randomness factor. Imagine in an FPS game if for every shot/mouse click/trigger pull you had an added animation to un-holster your weapon and the reticle was randomly 15% inaccurate.

True I have seen some games give me a huge boost in responsiveness but then most of the time I feel the same set of players has suddenly become bronze common players who are slow AF. The only way to enjoy the game is to start from division 9 and go all the way up and then again restart.

I played FIFA every year but I was tired about the laggy connections en no sense gameplay. I stopped at FIFA 17. This year I was hyped about FIFA again and forgot why I was stopped playing the game. So I buyed the game and it the same old storie again. With fiberglass connections I got Lag, no logic gameplay, disadvantages, sluggy players. It’s terrible. After all those year EA didn’t fix there server problems and that’s a joke. Come on. It’s 2022.

All of this is so true, it's just a pay to win game. The match making as well as the gameplay is extremely inconsistent, AI absolutely does wonders for people who've paid for their squads, EA absolutely rigs the sliders for those people. Every new patch allows the rats to exploit a new glitch and let's not even start a conversation about the pack luck for people who only play on their RTG accounts.

I’m happy you said all these things. I’ve been feeling recently that the game is nothing more than a glorified lottery system and EA wins hands down. You can’t win on merit or lose because you played badly. It’s just that the game decides who controls the ball and who wins. We’ve all been sucked into this vortex where loot boxes have become the prize and the only motivation for playing. However, even winning a game this round feels like a lottery. And that’s really the last straw for me. Lastly, I’m glad you voiced the thought in my head that I do feel that intense anxiety starting any game that I’ve given up playing Rivals or Futchamps. I reckon they consulted tons of psychologists who advised them on how to make the game as addictive as possible. And we all need to go cold turkey and play some real footie outdoors.

Lost a game yesterday because EOAE Chielini and Moments Puyol just stood there in the box, kept backing up and let mbappe just stroll right in front of goal. The lack of pressure from defenders when an attacker is in the box is pitiful.

I stopped after 1 match in WL after winning 77 in 80 games. The amount of stress and anxiety experienced together with the relentless anger I felt, made me quit. The horrible messages your receive whv you do; win, lose, draw. Whv the f there is ALWAYS hatred, racism, bigotry for NO REASON. This is not a game, its a punishment. There is no skill gap or learning curve, you can't win and call yourself "good". Sick of being nerfed and having to try hard af whilst others easily do whv they want against me. Every "pro" player om stream either; has a 10.000,- team, lives in the UK or has an insane set-up with a business internet connection on last gen... Look at RU-vidrs for example; they literally use boosts teams for content (let other pro/ex pro players play for them, stream it on their channel and the guys pretend to play themselves).

I'm only 16 mins in the video and have to pause just to comment. The amount of truth being told, the attention to the malicious gameplay, the attention to crooked mechanics and pure randomness nature of the game. I just appreciate you so much especially for raising awareness and using your influence to shed light upon this addictive and evil piece of software. I am 33 and am an engineer, engaged to a wonderful woman but this game with its manipulative features has brought nothing but stress, negative energy and jeopardized certain aspects of my personal life up to a point where I had to succumb the need to play, only to find out I was somewhat weaning. I had COVID a couple of weeks ago and thought great, at least I can play fifa. Stopped playing after an hour and went to play PGA tour 2021 and oh my god, the feeling of relaxing whilst playing a game. I forgot what that felt like. I hate playing against super competitive players who turn around, run backwards pass to the side and repeat until a gap appears. I end up with 25% possession, when I do get the ball I force a gap and score, or the AI defending bails them out. Its so boring.

I beg you to keep talking about these issues in fifa 23 and beyond. Keep pushing bro

At this point Rocket League is becoming more realistic soccer than FIFA. Not to mention, Rocket League is cross-play, ONE game, and is actually fun and rewarding skill as opposed to pay to win. I know it’s probably not your style Inception, but if you want to give it a shot. If others read this and support this idea, make sure to let Inception know!

I think 95% of the fifa community would say this game has too many things wrong... yet we all still give them money, not giving them enough incentive to fix their cruddy game. Because there is only 1 football game competitor, they've become complacent. They need some competition or to lose alot of profits and sales.

the whole part about doing sbcs but not actually wanting to play the game is so true that's what has happened to me cause the last 3 years.. the grind at the start for the first 3 months is fun and then that's it im bored it's over
