The reason forward swept wings were tested and abandoned was structural. The wings would twist with much greater force than aft swept wings. It would require a wing root that would be so heavy it negates any performance advantages.
I agree completely. Canard elevators are a more feasible variation that look cool but bring their own problems technically- but where does it end? Pilots on the belly of the ship and engines thrusting forward? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
@@krisshnapeswanipeswani3190 russia likes to achieve visual stealth as well. the su-57's paint job makes it look smaller and farther away and some times invisible, since russia has more experience in producing close combat aircraft (except the su-57 also has major stealth properties, such as its stealth design and stealth materials)
@@CtRAlTtAb tis ulsese. All modern engagements are bvr.bthr stealth profile of the su57 has the same radar crosssection of a f18 suprt horney. They havenexposed riveted bolts
Over the years MIG have made some stunning and very important planes, mg15,17,19 ,21 all great classic cold war jets. i always enjoy your video's plus a MIG story is always a winner. Cheers dude from me and my Dog Max in the UK 🙂
I get we westerners like to be skeptical of Russian weapons, but one has to agree that they have come up with brilliant designs and remarkable aircraft throughout the years. I find the berkut as one of the most visually pleasing planes in history. If their radars perform as they say they do, then they are truly in a class of their own.
No one with a functional brain denies the Russians have come up with fantastic designs over the years. It’s the quasi expert Johnny come Lately’s who just started following this stuff during the Russo-Ukraine war that insist everything that Russia builds and designs is utter crap. These are the same smooth brains who study something for a month and declare themselves the internet authority on the subject.
Although not massively into military technology I do follow a small number of channels that do documentary videos. This was really fascinating and well-made.
For a moment, the opening MIG MFI intro reminded me of the Clint Eastwood MIG-31 Firefox aircraft design. It wasn't swept wing. Oh well. Still waiting for the telepathic flight control (think in Russian!) innovations to make it into USAF inventory (lol). We stole -- borrowed it in 1982, so you'd think we could've reversed engineered it by now after 42 years! BTW, I worked at Grumman Aircraft (1985-1990) where the X-29 was built, tested, and witnessed a test flight. Quite a sight.
The Su-75 first flight has been delayed to 2025... It is entirely possible that, by the time it actually gets produced, its market will already have been cornered by the J-31 Gyrfalcon, or some other Chinese design.
The aircraft exhibits a sleek, angular design that is characteristic of stealth technology, aimed at reducing radar cross-section and improving survivability in hostile environments.
My dad once had to switch out a few gauges in a Tornado bomber even though he was neither a technician nor a pilot 😂 Some technician just gave him a set of screwdrivers, pointed him to the jet and let him climb in the cockpit
it was a dead end idea. you could only do so much with it and that was that. Had the design been more flexible I'm sure we would have seen a lot of reverse wings.
i had a game on my old amiga called F29 retalator it was the flight of fancy pack, great game and computer. first flight sim i ever landed was the F29 great video dude. cheers me and my dog Max from the UK 🙂
1:24:19 PAK-DA could be used to prevent geoengineering in the Arctic which would prevent catastrophic Arctic ice melting which is bad for 99% of humans but not for Russians. The wings just like stealth fighters make it a BWB Blended Wing Body and don't hurt stealth but help give it the huge range.
Definitely appreciate the long form videos. I'm an old git, I prefer something that grabs my attention rather than vanishes from my mind 60 seconds later.
Well, the PAC-DC looks SUPER practical and no-nonsense af. Would not be surprised if this becomes a real player at all. Probably not mass-produced though. And don't know why a Su-75 needs a cockpit if it's supposed to be un-manned, I don't think that's its intention, just an improvement on the Su-57.
i think the issue with this design was that it didnt really offer as much positives needed to outweigh the added complexity. The americans too didnt bother with this much after the x29.
One thing when people talk about russian aircraft. Is this their aircrafts are going up against like for like hardware. Where western air craft were not.
The Su-47 was also supposed by Sukhoi as Carrier based Navy aircraft. So the S-37 /Su-47 prototype already had folding wings. Well, this first aircraft had only manually folding wings.. But from this to the next step a Su-47 with hydraulically folding wing and an arresting hook it is not a big step.
bUt WhErE iS iT . . . like nice 3d renders and stuff, like very nice models my 14y old can also make those , but this plane only exists in war thunder if you ask me.
@@NotSoSerious69420the only reason for that being the stress on the wings during high g maneuvers. Otherwise it beats every singular western model. Now that we have this out the way, let's talk about the time a Soviet era anti air once disintegrated an f117 or similarly when also a Soviet anti air damaged an f35, shall we
i CAN REMEMBER TIMES OF FAMINE IN SOME AFRICAN COUNTRIES WHERE THE WHOLE WORLD WOULD SEND FOODAID,EXCEPT FOR RUSSIA: THEY WOULD SEND WEAPONRY, CAN YOU DIG IT?
I dont understand the grammatical errors and word pronunciation in these vids. "Weapondry"? It sounds like the errors of a script just read verbatim by an AI voice-over. Very strange..
The problem with the Su47 is, the only plans they could steal from NASA had the wings on backwards.... LoL I wonder how many AWACS Aircraft Russia still has? 😜
@@speen9430They are trying, but not just yet. Sanctions will make it difficult if not impossible Thanks for the misinformation, keep up being a good Russian simp.
@edwardfletcher7790 I think they just re-purposed a few old aircraft and slapped a couple of radars and called it a day. (They're highly likely worse in quality then the proper AWACS Aircraft) A loss is a loss, still a alot of money lost that will never come back. Note: I haven't found any source that they replaced these losses entirely. (These are expensive aircraft)
What many armchair aviation pundits seem to miss.... the SU-57 airframe was signed off, the avionics and it's 6 radars, yes it has 6 radars including one "dock-off" hulking great lump in the nose with a lock on range of Manchester to Glasgow....approx 225miles by road. It had the R37 able to cover that 225miles in under 25 seconds and X-band that it is claimed nullifies stealth. What they did not have is the engine they wanted. The AL-51F1(Izdeliye 30) is claimed by aviation commentators outside of Russia, as a 6th Gen engine. Mach2 Cruising, more power, better climb and higher ceiling with stealth capabilities.
With what’s going on in the world I have some doubt that Russia will be able to stay competitive in the aircraft industry. Other countries are now producing aircraft of their own that may keep Russian aircraft in the background 😢 which is a shame they try so hard to keep up with the west.
The dumbest thing the U.S. ever did was not build enough F22s and then destroyed all the tooling to build more. Maybe I am wrong, but I think it's the best aircraft ever built in numbers by the US ! Why did they destroy the tooling??
Lol you did hear this guy say the russian air to air missile can shoot at a 5th gen jet from 200 out! You can get a f-22 or 35 on screen till under 40 and thats not even a weapons grade lock on. He thinks he can randomly shoot it and hope the missile will somehow find a jet 😂😂😂😂
The SU-57 is not a stealth fighter. It has the same RCS as a clean F/A-18F Super Hornet. And the Super Hornet is not a stealth fighter. The SR-71 has a considerably smaller RCS even though it is twice the size of the Felon. BTW, the SR-71 had exposed screws and even a corrugated skin. The lack of S-ducts allows the engine blades to return radar signals. These returns are very significant. The SU-57 does not use RAM coating on the exterior of the aircraft, at all. They decided to use fiberglass in the construction due to cost restraints. This has also caused issues with the rigidity of the airframe. This means it cannot handle high Gs for extended periods and the life of the airframe is degraded considerably. Also the modeling used clean design and does not take into account the exposed rivets. The recessed screws do present an issue as well. The picture shown of the US aircraft panels are of these panels shows the RAM covering them in the first one and the second is without coating presumably during maintenance without the RAM coating. They are not pictures of the F-35 or F-22 in combat configuration when these are covered. That was a very deceptive misrepresentation. The SU-57 is an example of what not to do creating a stealth aircraft. The design is good but the manufacturing and cost cutting provisions keep this plane from being "stealth." The USA is not afraid, at all.
Apparently the Mig 1.44 was a ripped off design. There was a rejected concept for the F-22, I think from McDonald Douglas, which looked like a stealthy version of the Mig 1.44. When I first saw a picture of that concept I thought some military nerd had made a "what if the Mig 1.44 would be stealthy?"-mockup, but then I learned that the picture I saw was actually one of the rejected concepts for the F-22 program.

Your telling me the 57 can shoot a air to air blind from 200 away and the missle will just find a target somewhere? Bro wth? Your radar has to pick up the signature before you start shooting missiles. So tell me what 5th gen is capable of being weapon grade locked on at 200 away? I will personally feed you the rest of your meals for the rest of your life. Lmao dont worry I listened to what you stated a few times to make sure that really came out your mouth
