I just went through the same exercise with the same display, and TTL converter. One thing you didn't mention is if you want to display your hotspot transmit frequency you need to edit the area on the screen. If you click the t30 and t32 locations you can go to the bottom right area of the screen and look for the word "txt" you then enter your hotspot transmit and receive frequencies. Now they will show up on your display. Instead of clicking UPLOAD , if you didn't have the TTL converter you could click compile, then go to top right and click File then Open Build. Look for the newly created "tft" file and copy it to a clean with nothing else on it sd card. Put the sd card into the sd card slot on the back of the display and power up. It will load the same file to the screen.

This is a wonderful tool to guide someone on the installation of a Nextion display and HMI files. After watching it I purchased the necessary parts and had a fun(?) time making it work. But now it does. How can we utilize the micro SD card slot on the Nextion display? Can it be used to store several different "screens"?

The USB micro connector at 1:10 is to test the display. You can plug a micro usb phone charger to this board connect the Red to + and Black to - on the small board with the micro usb and it has some demo stuff to check the display If the voltage / current from the adapter is insufficient then use at least a 5V 500 ma or more current to test

I tried and nextion editor hangs up or says didnot send interupt! when I try to upload. exactly match display to hmi file I got. any help

Which USBasp programmer did you use? The one I have is no longer support as far as drivers go.

You show the adapter to connect to laptop. But is it also required between pi computer and display? I'm using jumbospot which has micro USB. Doesn't the Raspberry already have TTL serial?

Great Video. Did you ever get a wiring diagram put together as you said you would in the video. I have the parts just need to figure out how to connect them to the MMDVM to make it work. Do i just use the serial adapter?

Have you managed to get the BER and RSSI working as I suspect like mine it doesn't.. yet ? the actual display, (used the same one as yourself) is great as well so thanks to PD0DIB, beyond my expectations.... the flag country showing I have never seen before so this is a 11 out of 10... any updates to the BER etc be grateful... How do you plug in the screen to the hot spot? My Jumbo spot has micro USB ports.

I need a refresher... I want to edit my nextion file. How can I save my existing screen file first? I need to swap the TG and TS. For some reason they ended up being reversed for what is being displayed. My display is using the existing pins on the HAT board that plugs into the Pi. I use Nextion modem ON7LDS 2 Can I save my existing display before I figure out how to edit the TG and TS thanks

Where do you install the Nextion driver or is the USB to TTL that doe's this instead, why is there no SD card installed bit confused, any more advice please.

When I select Nextion, on the configuration page, there is no option for USB. Only none, modem, and /dev/tty/AMA0. So how do I select USB?

If you are good with driver issues and windows machines, i wonder if I might be able to get a little help from you. I cant get my TYT MD-2017 to program via my Microsoft Surface Pro 7. I can only program it via an old XP machine and another old Vista machine. I can't get the drivers figured out. '73 K0DPS

Do all the Nextion displays have a SD card slot and instead of using the TTL converter could you load a SD card and boot it off the display for the changes? Do you have a source to buy a display? I have a MMDVM now with the standard display that comes with the radio board but would like to add a larger display. Does anyone sell the display and a case combined? They sell a plastic case for Nextion display for around $15. Would like to buy the case and display at same time.
