For those that don’t get it, this song is sung by Bama at their games. They throw in an “f*** Tennessee” even though the song is about Tennessee. They played this 1)as a troll and 2) because it’s a good song about Tennessee.
I think they tell every team in the SEC to “Fxxx Off” when they sing the sing it at Alabama home games, but there is a special hatred for Auburn in the song 🤣🤣🤣
@jojames5162, According to TN native, Ronnie Rogers, the writer of the song, it's about driving through east TN, Grainger County specifically which is close to Knoxville. It's not about 'Dixieland' in general.
Agreed. I’m a UGA fan and didn’t have a “dawg” in this fight so to speak but this was the best game of the year so far. Neither team played a perfect game and both teams left it all on the field!! Great game! Congrats Vols! Go Dawgs!
@@theeclecticcollective8279 hoping we play the same way on the road in Athens, it’ll be a tough game for sure. UGA is #1 for a reason, we have to bring our best again but y’all will have a huge home field advantage so we’ll see what happens
@@NathanCron There’s only been one game on UGA’s schedule that has scared me all season and that’s Tennessee. Luckily, it is in Athens this year and hopefully the crowd will factor in. It should be a dogfight if both teams play to their potential. Nervously looking forward to it. Should be a great and physical game. Go Dawgs!!
Josh Heupel called his own plays (he was the offensive coordinator) when he won the natl title in 2000 here at Oklahoma. You have a good one, believe me.
🤔A song about The best state in the world (Tennessee) sung by a group named Alabama in Neyland Stadium after the best game this century between Alabama and Tennessee ".... On A Tennessee Saturday Night... My Dixieland Delight " and yet it is another great song about the great state of Tennessee by Alabamians. - I Love it. !!! However, I wonder if BAMA fans will still like this song after this? Go VOLS!
You're right- One has to wonder what Alabama fans will think about this song from now on. This moment has become so legendary in just a few short days, that one has to wonder if it's now essentially Tennessee's song. Will Alabama fans even want to sing it at their next home game? I think at the end of the year this may very well go down as the most memorable moment of the year in college football. And in 10 years it will still probably be remembered as one of the most memorable in recent decades.
What an amazing moment for all the Vols fans out there! You gained one in me, a Texas Longhorn through and through. What an amazing environment, never seen anything like it! I got chills with y'all! Man oh man, gonna be tough to beat that!
Meanwhile greenbay fans are putting their season tickets in their will to the children sense the waitlist is like 50 years for some people. All that so they sit a watch Aaron roger choke in the post season in the middle of a blizzard. A team so invested, they are the only publicly own team in pro football. Their fans literally own stocks in their team. And it’s not cheap. Some 300 bucks for one single share. But what do I know. Tennessee has a boat parade every game day on the river. Not hating on the vols. I cried a few tears of joy to see a team so deserving to win in this fashion. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Decades of stress, and pent up feelings, all let off in one moment. And to top off with mocking bama with this song which was always about Tennessee in the first place was the icing on the cake. But there’s not a fan base that can top to over the top loyalty of greenbay fans.
This isn’t meant to start an argument. I’m not sure that loyalty and passion are by my fan experiences the same. I’ve only been a Packers fan since the 90’s, Vol fan since the early 80’s. I’ve been to many more UT games than Packer games, so I might not be qualified to compare the two. However that’s just one man’s opinion.
@@dustincole3174 I’m not trying to start an argument either. That did come across very hostile. I don’t even like Green Bay. In fact 9 time out of 10. I can’t stand the team. But I’d be lying to say they have the most dedicated fan base in all of sports.
And man it burns my hide that a bunch are wanting the word Dixie taken out of that song. This is the South what part do they not get. I'm sick of these folks that every little thing offends them. LORD help us all. Also I love that song Good Old Rocky Top. I'm just an old grandma from the South. Bless you all. ❤ ❤
Incredible game, some of the best football I’ve ever seen. Hendon v Bryce was a shootout between 2 of the best QB’s in the country and it did not disappoint
Maybe one day I"ll make it and be able to go to a home game, that I hope to see a Big Orange Win. Till then it's only one of many dreams I've been chasing damn near 41 years. #GBO #VolNation #RollTearsRoll
I think most of Bama fans have forgotten what disappointment feels like and therefore what that excitement feels like when you beat a challenging opponent (a testament to what Saban has built for sure). Because they rarely get challenged, y’all just expect to win. With that in mind, I hope the “3rd Saturday in October” (at the least) remains a ball game of rivals battling to the last second. One-sided dominance takes away from the excitement of college football (and sports in general).
@@NathanCron True but I am just not one of those fans though. I remember how bad we were when y’all were great in the late 90s and how bad we were from 93 to 2006! Just horrible.
@@Bamamike223 no doubt, during our power house years you guys were looking for air and then the table flipped after Saban. I personally would love to see it less one-sided from here on but historically it’s been like that for both our programs
honestly I'm all for the winner getting the rights to play the song (along with lighting up cigars) but lets keep it named "3rd Saturday in October" lol
Does anyone else see the irony here???? Tennessee fans are celebrating their team's win against Alabama by singing "Dixieland Delight"...by ALABAMA!!!😂🤣😅
And Alabama (The band) was quick to relocate from Fort Payne to Myrtle Beach! Tells me all I need to know about Alabama. Don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama, cuz we're from Tennessee! 💯 Tennessee must've made an impression on them or they wouldn't have recorded this song written by a Tennessean! Nothing like a TENNESSEE SATURDAY NIGHT!!! GO VOLS! 💯❤️💯
As a lifelong Tennessee fan, every time I see this clip, it brings tears to my eyes. I have broken quite a few bones and there were no tears, but this is something special.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felice_and_Boudleaux_Bryant#Beginnings Neither of the people who co-wrote Rocky Top were from Alabama. He was from Georgia and she was from Wisconsin.
@@amazingturtle5075 it does mention Tennessee. Let’s see first line. Rollin down backwoods, Tennessee byway. As far as them being from Alabama. The great band director Dr Jay Julian knew the people that wrote Rocky Top. The ladies family was from Dothan Alabama and they were living in Dothan when they wrote this song. So we’re they born there no did they live there yes.
@@chrispredsfan bruh Boudleaux Bryant was born in Georgia and Matilda Scaduto (later changed to Felice Bryant) was born in Wisconsin. They first wrote Rockytop in 1967 and the Osborne brothers sang in later that same year. As for Dr. Julian, that's probably referencing the band arrangement which wasn't even Rockytop. It was an excerpt from a halftime show which had a medley called "Columbus Stockade blues" which was first performed in 1972. BUT even that piece was arranged by Barry McDonald (a Nashville native) and Preston Turner who I actually can't find anything on but maybe he was from Bama, regardless.... the song was not written in any regards to Bama, now there's no way I'm digging deep enough to counter your "where were they when they wrote it claim" but it doesn't matter because your initial comment says that they were from Alabama, which they were not
