This guy is fantastic. I normally am not one to really like DI, but he is inspirational. I see the category in a new light, and I wish him great success in the future.
This piece has so much potential, and I feel like this guy didn't even scratch the surface of the depth of this play. The major flaw with NSDA nationals is that "new" is always better than dynamic. And so now people who want to do White People in the future, and really flesh out this character, are at an immediate disadvantage because ignorant people will judge them for doing an "untouchable" piece. This piece can be done so much better than this, but people in the speech community are so blind to see that different interpretations can be just as drastic as an entirely different piece.
Absolutely. I'm doing Martin's story as a DI this year. I think it's very obvious as to why it hasn't been touched by the "cautious", "careful with words, no need to offend" speech community.
I have chills! I miss forensics so much. I wish my college had a team. This piece is so controversial. He was very tasteful is his approach & I commend him in taking on such a piece.
Seeing speeches like this make me wish I was a boy all the time because I feel like for boys in speech there are so many more options as far as scripts go. Sort of makes me feel bad.
