It's easy to forget what absolute freak athletes NFL players are. Phil trains a lot of athletes and they're all impressive but this dude's speed and agility is just on a whole different level.

@johnhassell5643
@johnhassell5643 9 месяцев назад
Great stuff here. I have a lot of questions but I'll start with one. With that Copenhagen hold with the knees bent, why are you having the athlete do the upper body rotation? What are we trying to work here? I'm just now learning about the Global Movement Systems and this looks like it would be the Abnterior Oblique Subsystem. Is that correct? This is such a great version of the Copenhagen side plank. I'm going to use this one, for sure.

This is for glute activation, so that you complete the chain of upper body down through to your toes. Take a look a francis ngannou training for his boxing fight against fury, its the reason people say he looks slow. When hes winging punches hes fully activated from toes all the way up. However when hes more static hitting the pads ( because hes not a boxer) hes significantly impaired.

@tchai91

Not wishing to be picky, but those sprint drills are very old-fashioned and quite a few clued-up sprint coaches no longer use A or B skips (and their variations), as their cross-over benefit to actual sprinting is very limited. Also, it looks like his hip external rotation is pretty poor, so doing backwards hurdle walk-over drills would probably be beneficial (with arms in the air). Oh, and he's not doing the glute/ham raises correctly, but otherwise, very good.

As someone who did track this was a Saturday morning session. Although we would do 30 mins of a mix of jogging and mobility work before we went into A,B and C skip.

warm up skip sequence lost quality as he fatigued. he's obviously warm - so more rest between reps will improve quality and patterning. definitely pros coaching this dude but need to decrease info to the athlete - too much instruction / feedback = no obvious actionable change to make

Info to athlete is indeed a little excessive but I guarantee, the skip sequences are necessary. I competed at a regional level in sprinting and we’d spend a good 10-15 minuted on mechanics with minimal breaks
