*laughs in 1985 Chicago Bears* My guy, NFL may as well have been the CFL (concussion football league) in the 80’s. Not saying we should go back to that extreme, but saying 00’s to 10’s is “unmatched” is just not true.
@@Snake_2066 I think that the era of the sport as a whole was better. I didn't say it was the most violent. And hey the 80's may have been a better product, but the access I had to high quality broadcasts every week in addition to a very solid product makes it difficult to beat in general terms.
Wes welker in his prime would thrive in this era. Just throw it up the middle, he’ll get the catch and yac, or get a flag for taking a lick. Every play should be an up the middle pass tbh
Any one of these hits could be a “Shazier” hit. I watch UFC and don’t cringe, I watch these hits and I’m genuinely concerned for their mental in 20-30 years
If they weren’t pulling a minimum of six figures I might feel bad for defenders these days. They are apparently supposed to play football without playing football.
I'm with you. I'm not sure how they are going to successfully eliminate big hits. Leading without your head, they're going to have to start in elementary school teaching players some new method of locomotion. Other options would be to put flags on the players or go back to leather helmets.
Hamlin was head hunting on the play he wasn't trying to knock the ball out. The Eagles defender yes lead with the shoulder but he still had helmet to helmet contact with a defenseless receiver.
@@michaelfalkner1186 to make offensive players more responsible? If a playing leads with the helmet to get extra yards why should the defense get punish for hitting the helmet
@@michaelfalkner1186 I’m definitely not well versed in football knowledge so I genuinely don’t really know it just seems like it doesn’t get called but also I don’t sit there and watch full games
I hate how nfl is enforcing those unnecessary roughness calls. This isn’t college football to call “targeting” and ejecting players for that. Just give the 15 yards.
I get player safety. I also realize these are bang bang plays. But half these are not penalties. Guys hitting with a shoulder to the receiver not the head are tackling like they should. Replay should be used to overturn unnecessary roughness flags.
soon it will be contactless football, where the opponent can be hit with the power of thought!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most of the time I can understand the flags, but they confuse us sometimes. No matter how many times they explain it, it's never completely consistent. And I agree with player safety, but some of them calls are questionable
I 100% agree! This kind of stuff is what is making this sport soft af. To eject players for making good tackles just because they think it’s “unnecessary roughness” blows my mind when it’s a Fucking CONTACT sport 🤦🏽♂️
Isn't your head like an 8th of your body? Good luck not touching someone's helmet running full speed while they brace for the hit 90% of the time by lowing their head.
The Eagles player actually tried to turn his body into the hit besides Hamlin went straight for the head. I thought at first the Eagles player went for the head but seeing several replays you see he turned his body towards to avoid the helmet to helmet contact
That second one is bogus as hell and it shouldn't have been a flag a normal tackle and knocking that ball out so it's a lose lose situation for the defender
You forgot to add that ghost hit that Cincinnati player got while waiting on the field...it had nothing to do with his two buddies coming onto the field late and he brought them some time.
This new era of football is so soft. Yes I understand that player safety is important but that hit on jjettas by number 3 in the jets is just playing good football NOT UNNECESSARY
Idk how to properly say it in physics terms but I believe the other player pushing Lawrence down mid sack saved his ankle, had that natural corkscrew motion continued, it probably would’ve been a nasty break at the ankle. The quick downward motion actually popped his ankle out from under the original defender. Pure luck
Honestly, they should just remove the pads and make it flag football. Everything these days is unnecessary roughness against the defense. If the defense hits a person too high, too low, too hard, with the shoulder pad, the person is not turned the correct way, etc. Now the offense, especially the running back can do whatever they want, lead with the helmet, hit high, hit low, hit with the shoulder pads, put hands on the face mask, etc.
Exactly. This is why football for me has become annoying af to watch. Far too many breaks and timeouts and the fact that you can’t even tackle hard anymore without getting ejected, fined, and ridiculed 🤦🏽♂️
It's the fact that so many of these new penalties contradict pretty much what football is built for and was supposed to be about. Which is why these days you pretty much just wait for the flag after every 3 to 4 plays and have to constantly stop for flags because they're nearly impossible to avoid at times for a fast based game that's all about being physical.
I understand the safety shit, but being a player of many years, it’s part of the game let them hit. If you catch a ball you’re taught to tuck and run, leading to a normal good form tackle being helmet to helmet. Once you’re committed to a tackle it’s impossible to pull up
Always been a good sportsmanship guy I get celebrating after a big hit but dude if the guy spazzing knocked out I would rather just check on the guy and see if he ok
I don't see hamlins hit as a disqualification if it was complete it wouldn't have been counted as a penalty but since it was incomplete it was penalized
Completely ridiculous that the Buffalo hit to the head was rightfully ejected but the same hit on Burks in the Titans game wasn’t an ejection. Disabling the best WR in the first quarter and walking their way to a W since you just have to defend Henry now.
The call on hamlin, around 40sec, bullshit call. He turned and went shoulder to shoulder. Also, noticing a trend of taking dives like they pussyleague soccer
I'm very confused as to why people are not understanding why some of these hits are flags. Like if the person is hit in the head and neck area at a fast speed, then a flag is bound to come out. Are you even human if you don't care about people getting knocked out?
You make money off of others injuries. Sweet. Maybe send them a get well card and a thank you note to the injured player for helping you make money on their misfortune.
nfl getting soft dawg....hit him with the shoulder....Bills player got ejected.. "it was head and shoulder area" is whay ppl gonna say but it's football for Christ sakes...it's gonna look brutal but that's what defence suppossed to do. try and make the receiver NOT score....
