I actually noticed the passive approach with Alt when I watched his tape, but I'm no expert, so I just assumed because everyone said he's a technician and all these draft experts saying he's special, I just trusted they know more than me. but I would prefer a more tenacious physical lineman with an edge/nastiness to him. which ironically I don't think either Alt/Olu are.... but regardless I just want a LT who will be a staple of the left side in protecting Levis, so hopefully Cally and Ran find that for us.

Joe Alt is 20 years old, 6'8", 325 lbs, quick feet, long arms, and was trained by the legendary Harry Hiestand for 1 year. You can't teach size and quickness but you can certain teach a guy to be stronger and more technically sound.

I have great respect for Greg Cossell, in fact I think he’s the best in the business on the media side scouting/evaluating. But every year I hear guys talk about lack of length in many tackle prospects then they get to the combine and measure 34+ inch arms. Fatanu has longer arms than Alt and Fashanu but he’s 6’4. It’s mind boggling to me why so many people buy into these narratives that have no basis on film or the combine. Almost everyone in the draft media says he should kick inside but on film all you see if a guy who’s smooth af in pass pro and plays violent. “He’s not long enough” well he has 34 1/2 inch arms (league average is 34), “he’s not big enough” well he’s 317lbs (league average is 315). Sooo he’s above average in the measurables, one of the best pass blocking technicians in the class and arguably the smoothest athlete in the entire oline group. These same people said Rashawn Slater couldn’t play tackle either.

First time ive heard anything negative about Joe Alt. But it has now made me question it enough im gonna go do my own film study which up to this point i had not done, and just accepted that Alt was about to be a multi pro bowl type franchise LT. We should all do our own research and not just give in to what everyone else says.

This has all been out there Alt is just a symptom of reverse prospect fatigue for some reason

He will be a pro bowl LT whether you study any film or not.

Tennessee next to Skoronski is the absolute perfect landing spot for him, but he has plenty of issues.

He's not lying about Troy Fatauna guys. I really believe he's the best pass blocker in the draft on the left side. Watch his tape, the reason he's not rank with Alt and Olu is because he 6'3 1/2 maybe 6'4 and the other guys are at 6'6. His arms is not as long but they are longer than Peter Skoronski and he's more athletic. No nobody is getting the edge on him you might beat him inside but he still recovers well. I think Bill Callahan can work with him make him solid maybe even a Star LT. Yeah,he definitely needs to get stronger plus his run game but getting stronger would help him out. Im sold in this guy.

Too small. Should play center if he can snap. Excellent athlete.

Finally, I'm not the only person who noticed all this about Alt. I'm not that in love with Ole either...

Alt and Fashanu are both Elite prospects but neither is perfect. We will be set with either one.

Ah that’s really cornering about Alt not firing his hands. The best tackles in the NFL are ones that do that. Greg Cosell has been wrong before. He was wrong about Derek Henry.

Joe Thomas was a better prospect as he had even more athleticism than Alt but with better strength and nastiness to his game.

@@boroben9548 I don't see much difference between the 2. Alt just isn't as strong as he should be but he's also only 20 years old. Give him a few years of hardcore NFL training and you'll see another HOF worthy player from Notre Dame.
