"The NFL is distancing itself from controversial comments by Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker during a recent commencement address. In addition to calling Pride Month a “deadly sin” and bemoaning diversity and equity initiatives, Butker set off waves of criticism when he suggested that women find more fulfillment through getting married and having children than by pursuing careers - directly after quoting a song by Taylor Swift.
The backlash has been building since Butker made the comments Saturday in an address to graduates at Benedictine College, a small Catholic school in Atchison, Kansas."

He said that his wife gave up her dreams to stay at home and do wifely duties. That's a terrible thing to say. If he said it was her dream to be a housewife, that's different. That would be her own decision. He said she GAVE UP her dream to be a subservient housewife.

You think he is against a man and woman using IVF to have a child? I think the argruement is against gay couples using IVF to have a child, which they could never ever do naturally. That is my argruement too. By the way, if you ever want to see what government baby farms look like, just keep promoting and catering to degenerate lifestyles. Without procreation there is only indoctrination and government intervention to keep them going. End those today and in 10 years the lgbtq population drops back to where it was. It should be tolerated, not promoted. Imagine half the population in any area no longer bore children? And the half of the children born also had no children. If the first thing that pops in your head is anything positive, check yourself. There are some positives to be found for sure, listed under the massive list of negative outcomes, including endangerment and extinction.

Butker is a traditional Roman Catholic speaking to a Roman Catholic audience about Traditional Catholic values. If you are not Catholic, why would you care? He was not speaking to you. You aren't going to find any open, proud homosexuals at a conservative Catholic college like Benedictine. You have to sign a pledge to not engage in premartial sex or to violate Catholic teachings. So you'd have to be closeted the entire time you were there, actively pursing the homosexual life would be grounds for explusion.

Just like not every woman is interested in having a husband and kids. And for some people, they decide their career is more important in their 20's and perhaps 30s.. And then at some point they might become more and more interested in having a family. THERE IS NO ONE STANDARD RULE FOR EITHER MEN OR WOMEN. It's up for each individual to. decide for themselves. But whatever they decide it's not any of the business of some self-important football kicker who wants to lecture them how things should be, and is just going to assume what they ALL REALLY WANT AND WHAT THEY ARE MOST EXCITED ABOUT BECAUSE THEY ARE WOMEN AND THAT IS THEIR NATURAL AND PROPER PLACE IN SOCIETY. Btw, men don't tend to get lectured on how being a homemaker is really the most important thing for them to be, and how wonderful it is for them to sacrifice their dreams to be a homemaker for their wives, because that's when their lives will really start.

They chose to go to a Christian college over a secular one so I’m sure they didn’t hear anything new or shocking and he didn’t even say anything shocking or new! You’re exaggerating what he said. Better yet, you’re flat out lying about what he said! He was not an embarrassment to the school and they were all applauding! I'm DEFINITELY left leaning. That said, He did NOT say women "Should stay home". He said it's ok to and you should embrace that role if you so choose! He also spent ten minutes of his speech talking about how men need to be better men and support their wives and be better fathers. And how that would lead to less violence to women. Three minutes of his speech was about embracing a "homemaker" role. My God, we need to learn to be ok with people expressing different opinions than our own. This is why America is in such a divisive mess!

@@QT-kn4uy ok... I'm thinking 🤔🤔🤔.... Back when I was in college, there were many avenues a young women could take.... and at graduation, many might have both a future career and a family in mind, not as a mutually exclusive choice, whereas if she took option A, it would not forever exclude Option B. But the message also meant that if you find yourself as a Homemaker, that is also fine, a noble vocation, and not a lesser standing than if she ascended to the top of the corporate ladder. And also, 75% of university degrees are not "career training." If you get a degree in Philosophy, there are virtually no entry level job as a Philosopher, they will tell you they would rather hire an accounting or an engineering major. That is what I think.

It's all fine and dandy to want women to stay home, to become mothers and wives only. Unfortunately, for most women and most families, having only one income is financially impossible. 95% of all married men do not make enough money to be the only financial breadwinner. During the 70s and 80s, my family couldn't survive on just my dad's income. We would've lost our house, had our cars repossessed without my mother's income.

Yup. That's a feature, not a bug. It's a policy choice, _always has been_ (as we all know here). If the right wing wanted to support families, and especially wanted women to be homemakers, thus withdrawing from the workforce, and no longer serving a capitalist (new folks pay attention to that part), they would've been subsidizing that lifestyle. Whether it's tax breaks/credits for one income households that have two adults and at least one child, free education programs, housing cost help, grocery store vouchers for diapers, supplies, and food, or even the simplest of all, sending out direct cash payments, every level of government in this country has enough power to better your life in some way, and the sky's the limit on creative solutions for doing just that. Yet, they don't pass laws or local ordinances to help us do anything remotely like surviving in a one income household, do they? While many Republicans do believe in stuff like what this kicker felt deeply compelled to get off his chest in front of a crowd that he knew would contain a great number of young female grads, and while most of their politicians do pay lip service to these very "conservative" viewpoints, their true allegiance is crystal clear. They serve capital. The rich, corporations, bosses. Always.

I have my own criticisms of conservatism and the Republican Party, but there's no basis to speculate that he's only saying what all conservatives or Republicans are thinking. Indeed, a lot more couples *would* adopt the female-housewife-and-male-breadwinner lifestyle if it were affordable, and it's conservatism that is now getting in the way of *making* it affordable.

If you go anywhere in the world , women work! Many work agricultural jobs, fisheries, manufacturing. Women since the dawn of time have contributed their skills to the survival of their cultures. Only the elite groups of any culture did not need to work. What we do need is to make things easier for women who want a family to be able to enjoy their time as mothers with better healthcare , childcare, and time off.

When my brother and his wife had their 3rd child. Daycare became to expensive. My SIL earned slightly more than my brother. He quit his job and became a stay at home dad. He did real estate on the side. He did it until all 3 were in school. He loves the bond he formed with the children. I want men to break that tradwife mentality. I just watched a blog from a woman who was a tradwife. Her husband abused her. Locked her out of the house with the baby. Didn’t allow her to have keys to the house.
