The browns have actually given the pats some trouble in recent years. Lol but the pats always lose a game or 2 to bad teams every year. Don't know why or how but they do and then dominate division leaders
Toxic Toenail, But if it's game winning you can't have missed it... And if you missed, it couldn't have been game winning. +bowlchamps37 makes a good point, here.
Auto pilot 001 They were in a dome, plus every NFL kicker has the leg strength to hit 70 yards, it would just require a ton of luck that it wouldn't be blocked due to how low the trajectory has to be to kick that far.
Blair Walsh has had his struggles with accuracy, but he can still kick it very far. Have you read my previous statistic? Back in the day, he was a good kicker?
its the pressure. have u ever been in a sport? during playoff games and championship games the pressure inside the player is alot. i.e me and my team just earlier this week had a playoff and champion ship game in the same day. we won the playoffs 66-7. we were super pumped and full of adrenaline after that but we had to wait an hour for our next game. we lost the championship due to the hour wait and the pressure inside us that built up over the hour as we watched the other team beat their opponent and immediately came full of energy to beat us.
Kickers have such a hard job, they’re expected to make kicks and when they don’t everyone just gets mad at them. It’s probably really hard to make a kick under all that pressure.
the one at 7:21 was so heartbreaking. I was there and literally you could hear a Pin drop, we all were scared to death that he would miss because Blair Walsh is garbage and we didn't want to sit 5 hours in -35° weather for nothing.
I’m a Broncos fan and I remember I was at a mountain mikes eating dinner when Carolina missed that kick to win it on opening week. Will never forget fun moments like that from my childhood.
As a Packer fan I HATE to admit this, but I felt so bad for Walsh when he missed the one against the Seahawks, my dad who recently passed was a Vikings fan and never got to see them win a SB, and it wasn't the first time he had to deal with his Vikings missing a FG to win a playoff game, not to mention it was only 27 yards and that Vikings team had an insane defense.
Jesus.... reliving this as a Seahawks fan gives me nightmares. 😱 Also, yes I've heard every 1st and goal line joke in the book. However, if you come up with something creative, props to you 😉
A couple of those games however the team would go on to win anyways. The Giants in the 2007 NFC Championship and the Cardinals in the 2009 Wild Card won both of those games despite the kicker missing the potential game winning field goal!
I'm a Colts fan, and I was about to point that out. I had the privilege of seeing him boot a game winner live for us. Truly the greatest kicker to ever do it.
How, how how, is Jay Feely not in this video? As a member of the NY Giants in 2005 Jay Freely did not just miss one game winner, he missed 3 game winners, all in the same game against the Seattle Seahawks. The 1st was a 40 yard attempt on the last play of regulation. The 2nd was a 54 yard attempt in overtime. And the third attempt was a 45 yarder also in overtime. Seattle after that would drive downfield and kick a 36 yard field goal and win 24 to 21.
Can't really blame a guy too much for missing from 50+. That's hard for even the best kickers. Remember when we used to have sporting events like this before the coronavirus? I miss those days. They sure were the good ol' days.
what about that 2003 Saints field goal kicker - where the offense had some crazy 10+ lateral play to score with no time left. and the guy misses the PAT to tie the game... that was something
some real good selections of some of those the big games the playoff misses I think you forgot Ravens New England 2011 AFC Championship Ravens hooked it 32 yd out
The lions have never really had a good team. But we've always made every game winning field goal because that's the only position we've been solid at for the past 30 years
Couple more things. #1, the last one really isn't fair as Michel was a punter and not a kicker but the regular Eagles kicker had gotten injured and instead of signing another kicker they had Michel do the kicking duties(he was terrible even missing an extra point in that same game above). #2, how in the blue hell do you not have Mike Vanderjagt's miss against Pittsburgh in the 2005 divisional game especially given the fact that the Colts got a miracle fumble to put them into position to win the game and he shanked the attempt.
