Get this, Cody Parkey’s miss and Blair Walsh’s miss we’re both in the NFC Wild Card at their home stadiums, both on NBC, both being one point games, and both kickers having been 3 for 3 on field goals in the game before missing.
@@ianmarderosian Also don't forget they've been with the team that they were playing against and that Michael Bennett was on the winning team in those two games
jags day No it was not! Cundiff and Justin Tucker had a position battle the following preseason and Tucker won it. Cundiff was released week 4 of the following preseason.
jags day Which was his fault because the wind was blowing to the left but he kicked the ball straight instead of right which would've took the ball back to the left and would've went in, this was also Lee Evans last game with the Ravens and in the NFL, he was the receiver that caught the ball in the endzone two plays before the field goal attempt but had it knocked away by Sterling Moore
The Kundiff one was brutal. I remember watching that and not believing he missed it. Go figure though, we got Justin Tucker out of it and a Super Bowl the next year. 💜🖤
And on that one at the Cowboys v Seahawks, Romo was then stopped just short of the very BEST thing that the Cowboys could have gotten from that play, the FIRST DOWN.
Legit, life of a kicker is tuff, nobody cares if you make a 50 yarder even those are very tuff, and if you miss a game winner or short kick everyone clowns you and makes memes. They get absolutely no respect
And for all those who say '40 yard times at the Combine are meaningless" rewatch Romo bumbling the snap and going for the endzone while the defender out runs him and gets him from behind.
I was 12 when Norwood missed wide right. I remember watching on a small little box tv. I was one happy Giants fan. Truly a great game. I recommend watching on RU-vid if you want to see a classic Superbowl. It had everything. That was no easy kick for Norwood especially with all the pressure. Sports can be cruel and I still feel for the guy a little.
Norwood also had poor stats on grass fields-only 1-5 from 40 plus yards on grass (stat was shown on TV right before the kick). Kick was 47 yards-Bills needed to get inside the 25 to give their kicker a better chance and ran out of time.
@@andrewpadaetz5549 Exactly. That and add in all that pressure. He gets so much blame and it’s not right. Giants offensive game plan was run left, run right, and run up the middle. The bills defense couldn’t stop it and get off the field. By midway through the third quarter they were gassed.
{Eagles fan here} I was legit crying before parkey missed the kick. I was like “Welp here goes our season” and then.. *DOINK* I was cry laughing. Respect to the bears they’re a good team. {I’m a small RU-vidr}
Honorable mention here. Bill Gramatica in Dec 2001 on a Sat early game @ Giants I caught some of before going to work. He made the FG but it wasn't even a long FG maybe 40 yards. It was early in the game, he made it, and blew out his ACL from celebrating. Couldn't believe what I saw.
As a Colts fan, I was pretty surprised that Vanderjact’s kick vs the Steelers in the 2005 playoffs. Man, the Colts were stacked that year and imo would have at least made the Super Bowl if it wasn’t for that 😔
You forgot week 16 1991 when Cleveland kicker Matt Stover missed a chip shot 19 yard field goal (badly) that knocked the Browns out of playoff contention. Worst I've ever seen. Un-fricking-believable.
Everytime I watch it I think if only that one cowboy would of just got in the way of the tackler, romo walks in and his whole narrative of his career is different
I think that Billy Cundiff miss for the Ravens was the last time a kicker other than Justin Tucker attempted a field goal for Baltimore. Determined to never have that happen again
1:01 PSA: Scott Norwood tried to commit suicide after Super Bowl XXV. He put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger, but fortunately the bullet was wide right. (Parody Service Announcement)
The Scott Norwood kick showed the proper uniforms and helmets of the Bills and Giants as they should still be. Those uniforms/helmets were their trademark and should never have been changed. The Buccaneers uniforms looked 1000% better than they do now. Sad.
Seahawks ballboy gave the refs a brand new untouched ball for the Romo incident. Look how shiny that ball is. Anyway, Dallas complained and the rule was changed that offseason so that the opposing team had zero access to the other team's kicking footballs
As an Eagles fan, I want to set the record straight that Cody Parkey “ double doink” was actually a blocked field goal. The ball was tipped so I wouldn’t quite classify that as a missed kick that was just great special teams on the Eagles because if that ball had not been tipped, it would’ve went through 🤷🏼 and that poor kicker got all that hate from Chicago fans
Funny tho if Billy Cundiff makes that Kick the Ravens go to the SB and possibly win. If that happens the Ravens don't go out and get Justin Tucker as a UDFA the next year and have the best kicker in the league for the next decade. Nick Folk actually has had a career resurgance with the Pats who he missed those 3 FG's against
Shaun Suisham's 2009 miss of a 23-yard field goal should have been here. That kick would have given the Redskins a 10 point lead with a minute left over the Saints. Instead, Drew Brees connected on a long pass to send the game into overtime where the Saints would win it. Suisham was cut two days later. The win for the Saints preserved their #1 seed and kept the NFC Championship game in New Orleans where the Saints beat the Vikings, if that game would have been in Minnesota who knows but probably a Viking win, instead the Saints went on to win the Super Bowl and maybe all possible by this one missed kick.
3:11 first time I ever cried over an NFL game… a 32 yard miss in the AFC Championship 😭 second time I cried over an NFL game was the very next year when the Ravens won the Super Bowl 😂
