@@tedbundywastheultimatechad8400 Fran is the greatest Viking of all time. He is the one non negotiable on the list. He was the GOAT in all of football when he retired. Moss was only with us for short amount of time. Fran was a beast for like 16 years. Moss should be like 8th or 9th in line for this list.
@@damienwilliams2947 that's exactly what I'd do too lol; Polamalu's one of the most iconic players of the 21st century imo. Ben and the offense really coasted off these guys in 2008.
Bob Lilly was the Cowboys' first ever draft pick in their history; his nickname is literally "Mr. Cowboy." Demarcus Ware couldn't possibly have done anything to outplay that.
Wait so TD gets removed from the Broncos Mount Rushmore in favor of Payton manning, but Deion Sanders gets removed from the Falcons because of longevity with the organization?
For the Browns, as a Cleveland native, I’d put Ozzie Newsome before putting Myles Garrett on our Mt.Rushmore. The Wizard of Oz was the most important offensive weapon on a team that made 3 AFC Championship games in 4 years. Myles will be there but right now, not quite yet
To be honest, a "Mount Rushmore" is not the kind of thing to go with pure statistics on. Influence matters. It's "who made the franchise what it is" and absolutely needs to include intangible effects.
@@lzv6990 You can't be a team's first ever draft pick, have a career as great as his and NOT be on your team's Mount Rushmore permanently. Nobody can outplay/outstat any of that.
You realized when Steve Van Buren retired he was #1 in ever RB category and only Don Hudson had more total yards and TDs? He was essentially the second best offensive player of the Old NFL. he was still in the top 100 RBs in rush yards until last year, 75 years after he retired.
The Steelers is easily the toughest team to make a Mt. Rushmore for. Just look at how many Honorable Mentions they gave in the original video. So many incredible players year in and year out for over 50 years now. There were some slumps in the 80s and 90s, but even then, there were some really talented guys on those teams too.
Absolutely Bailey should be there over Manning. Peyton had one crazy season in Denver in 2013, but in 2015 when they won the SB, he was really not good and definitely carried by the defense. Bailey was an icon for the Broncos for a decade.
I would have placed Larry Allen in the Cowboys Mount Rushmore before Demarcus Ware; dude was literally the NFL’s strongest player and was 1st team all pro six times and was part of two all decade teams
Also kind of unfair to discount the older guys based on playing guys who had other careers outside of football when that was the case for every player back then, even the stars; nobody was living solely off an NFL paycheck in the '40s and '50s lol.
@@-PURPLE-HEAD right? You'd think an Eagles fan would be more appreciative of this, considering that Chuck Bednarik is probably the player most famously linked to his off-season job lol.
And just like with Lilly, Lee Roy Selmon was the Bucs' first ever draft pick; dude made a HOF career for himself playing for a team that started 0-26. Ronde Barber played next to the other three guys that were originally picked to be on this; Selmon had literal guys off the street playing next to him. Switch Lynch out for Barber, not Selmon.
8:55 Bobby Lane is a no-brainer on the Lions Mt Rushmore. Bobby Lane is among the most accomplished NFL players of all time - the best QB of his era. Stafford doesn’t come close. Doak Walker, Lem Barney, Night Train Lane would all come before Stafford in the Mt Rushmore . Bobby Lane won 3 NFL championships with the Lions, was a six time All-Pro, and from 1950 to 1956 had seasons where at different times led the entire NFL in passing yards, touchdowns, completion percentage, and scoring.
@@MarkLeBay THANK YOU. It makes no sense to put Stafford ahead of him; none whatsoever. You don't replace a guy who was part of the most successful period in Lions' history just because modern stats are prettier or whatever his argument was. And honestly, Idk how many people would even be arguing he belongs there if he hadn't gone and won a Super Bowl immediately after he left; I really think that's shifted people's perception of his time in Detroit for some reason.
Bottom line, Matthew Stafford as QB of the Lions couldn’t win a single playoff game, even when the Lions had a Super Bowl winning head coach, a top two defense, and alvin Johnson and Pro-bowler Golden Tate to throw to.
18:38 Mel Hein was the best center of really the first 25 years or so of the NFL’s history. He was also the recipient of the 1938 Joe F. Carr Trophy (which is essentially the MVP award). So personally, I can understand why he’s there but then again the era matters.
@@keres9580 lol he was going on and on about centers when he put Jim Otto in for the Raiders, yet pushes arguably the consensus best C ever out of his Mount Rushmore?!
@@keres9580 whenever I've heard people talk about best centers of All Time, the names most frequently brought up were Hein and Mike Webster. Either way, to go on and on about how important centers are to give a nod to Jim Otto and Jason Kelce, only to push out a center actually on a Mount Rushmore whose name is frequently mentioned for GOAT status, it doesn't make sense imo.
I feel like a Mount Rushmore doesn’t have to be the four best players but the four most iconic to that franchise. That being said, my sweet angel barry is correct on every single take and I’ll tell my wife’s boyfriend how good a job he did
As a Broncos fan myself, what do you think of Randy Gradishar not being on the “Mt. Rushmore” for the team? He was the face of the franchise before Elway, and had great stats. It’s honestly embarrassing it took as long as it did to get him in the HoF. Also, Nalen needs to get in.
I would rather have Floyd Little on Mount Rushmore. If it wasn’t for him, the Denver Broncos most likely wouldn’t be here in Denver. He was the first true face of the Denver Broncos and should be recognized as such. I love Randy Gradishar. Littles, more iconic.
Bobby Night Train Lane earned his spot because he won three championships with the Lions, 52, 53, 57, and when he retired in 63 he led the NFL in completions, touchdowns, and yards. As one comment read on here, a no-brainer. I do like Matthew Stafford and he has better stats but come on, 3 NFL championships and leading in many areas during that era football.
@@lukesullivan8071 nope; he was only there for 4 years; that's not enough to push off the other guys already on it, all of whom played at least a decade for the Rams. I'd even put someone like Crazy Legs Hirsch there before Dickerson, honestly.
@@Chuck_EL funny you mention that; I was going to say "that's like putting Marshall Faulk on the Colts' Mount Rushmore" as an example as to why Dickerson doesn't belong on the Rams' lol: both their tenures with those respective teams are too short and can't possibly outshine the decade+ long careers with these teams the guys already picked have.
@@lzv6990 also the first ever choice in Bucs' history and had a HOF career despite being part of some of the worst teams of All Time. Then again, Barry thinks a guy literally nicknamed Mr Cowboy doesn't belong on the Cowboys' Mount Rushmore, so...
@@SteelerFanInRIHe was the only guy I could look to as being truly good when they first started out. I’d throw Ricky Bell & Doug Williams in there as well.
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 them deciding to cheap out on Doug Williams set that franchise back nearly a decade and a half; I can't imagine how it felt to see them let him walk.
That sounds like something a 10 year old would say Selmon is a former dpoy, 6x pro bowler, 3x first team all pro, 2x second team all pro and lastly 1980s all decade team While I’m good with Evans being there, you can never replace Selmon on the buccs Mount Rushmore
Unironic comment but I have to say this was seriously one of my favorite videos from you. I love the sarcasm and bits but you seriously made a good video with this one, more serious and informative imo
Bssically agreed on all except for Tarkenton which I was shocked by considering how much this channel values QBs Took the vikings to their only 4 Super bowls Was the all-time leader in wins, passing yards, TDs, QB rushing yards when he retired
The context is important here though. Tarkenton was a great QB for the Vikings and, at the time, was probably the best dual threat QB the league had seen to that point. But…you’re putting him up against Randy Moss lol. The dude had 17 touchdowns as a rookie receiver and is pretty much the consensus #2 or #3 greatest receiver of all time. I don’t have an issue with putting him on the Vikings Mount Rushmore over Tarkenton even without the Super Bowl trips
Art Monk became the all time reception leader before the pass happy era and just as Jerry was getting warmed up. Riggins got the SB MVP over Theismann and was the driving force of the offense. He gets more love from our fan base. Although the Hogs were the constant to the SB runs
Not a Falcons fan but even 20 years after he played, Mike Vick is the first guy I think of when I think of the Falcons. Is he overrated? Sure. But he belongs on that Rushmore.
I think a team's Mount Rushmore kind of implies an importance to a franchise too though, not just the 4 best players to wear the jersey. So I would keep Vick, Groza, TD, Tarkenton
@@StarvinLG exactly why I think it makes no sense to not only put Peyton Manning on the Broncos', but also having him replace arguably the most important piece to them winning their two '90s Super Bowls; no matter how short Terrell Davis' career was, he basically did everything a RB can do and he was still there longer than Manning was.
Franco Harris belongs ahead of Ben Roethlisberger for Pittsburgh, and you can not take out Bob Lilly AKA Mr. Cowboy (7 time 1st team All-Pro) and arguably the best Cowboy D lineman ever!
@@charlesiofaustria7361 probably the best QB for them when you take longevity into account; Kurt Warner and Carson Palmer had higher highs but they also weren't there very long.
I don’t care team by team I just wanna know Barry’s My Rushmores for important characteristics like “Hard Working Deceptively Athletic Daughter Daters” or “Classy Respecter of Women” and of course “Stat Padder”
As a Packer fan, I'm glad you didn't move Bart Starr off. Even if he is the worst QB of the 3 we have on our Mt. Rushmore, he is also the most clutch of the 3 of them. It really sucks that those Packers teams from the 60s are only credited with 2 Superbowl rings, they had won the NFL Championship 3 times prior to the Superbowl era, including a 3-peat that spilled into the SB era from 1965 to 1967
It's goofy and stupid to discount championships simply because they call them "Super Bowl" now, yet nearly everyone I talk to about football will openly say "Anything before the Super Bowl doesn't count". WHAT?!?😮
@@tedbundywastheultimatechad8400 honestly! It's so stupid. Like those players wanted to win just as much as players today. And they fought hard to win whatever championship they were trying to bring home. It isn't their fault that they played in an era before the superbowl was a thing.
Tarkenton is one of the only ones that I disagree with you on. He led Minnesota to three super bowls, won an MVP, was a 9 time pro bowler, retired as the NFLs all time leading passer, is still top 15 in passing yards and passing tds, is still the franchise’s all time leading passer, and is considered the first great duel-threat QB. Though he never won a ring and admittedly threw way too many interceptions, he is a lock on the Vikings Mount Rushmore for sure.
8:19 As good as Peyton was all time you can’t give him the nod over Champ Bailey, if we are talking about what the player did for the franchise. Bailey played a lot longer with Denver and is probably the best all around defensive back in team history.
He was injured half of the seasons he spent with the team and split snaps with Stewart his rookie year. I would say Sam Mills, Greg Olsen, Ryan Kalil, and Thomas Davis all deserve a spot on the Mt before he does and I love CMC.
I already commented this in the Mt. Rushmore video, but I wish NFL Throwback made a series about forming the ultimate roster from every franchise, and put them in a simulation to find out which is the greatest NFL team of all time.
@@lzv6990 Idk how Barry can think Stafford deserves to be on it over Bobby Layne; it's like putting Drew Bledsoe on the Pats' Mount Rushmore over Tom Brady 🤣
Cutting out TD for Peyton manning is crazy for the broncos when you cut Deon in ATL for only being in ATL for 5 years. Yeah he went to the Super Bowl twice but the one he won was all because of the defense
@@ThelegendTMC Not even close. One of those MVPs was the weakest MVP of the century, and the other was electric until the season went up in flames when it mattered.
Deon definately belongs on our Rushmore, you bring up Mike Vick "individual" stats but fail to do the same for Deon, if You had done your research you would know that he is the only "True Lockdown" corner in Nfl history. Other than that, list is cool.
Seahawks list not as cut-and-dry as Barry makes it sound, as a Seahawks fan. No love for Cortez Kennedy or Easley? Cortez over Russ is a 100% legitimate discussion
It feels wrong to not have a Legion of Boom member, but Wagner > any LOB member individually I think. Maybe some could argue Sherman over Wagner because of the tip? I don't know. Sherman also is favoring his time for 9ers over Hawks recently though. Russell, I think is close to a lock because was part of SB winning team, franchise QB, put up good numbers for years. He had stretches where he was the best QB in the league, just never put it together for a whole season to win an MVP. Cortez Kennedy was part of dark times in Hawk history, but he does have a lot of excellent accolades. Played whole career with Hawks. It is close. Largent and Jones are locks, can't see knocking either of them out.
Yeah as good as Russ was, I would’ve put Cortez or Easley above him since they’re legit hall of famers and he might miss the cut. Plus those Super Bowl runs were in large part because of the defense, all he had to do was not suck. He was a tremendous player after the defense fell apart but near the end played sort of selfishly so it’s hard to put him over hall of famers
@@jessehaskins7849 nah they’ve made their choices in regards to being part of Hawks history. Sherman maybe could redeem himself but Earl can go to hell for all I care. He made his choice
@@dafuzzbear7711 Statistically, AB is the greatest WR in Steelers' history and was the greatest WR of the 2010s decade in the entire league imo, so on that basis he's close, but the way his tenure there ended, coupled with how he bad-mouths the team now, completely knocks him out of contention.
