As a self proclaimed NFL historian, I don't like the direction the NFL is heading...however, this rule is better than the one we were using prior.

I’m not mad I’m just super shocked that the NFL is gonna use the XFL kickoff while the USFL was like the NFL kickoff and that the UFL will use the NFL style of kickoff but the NFL gonna use the XFL kickoff

And not you can't tackle high, low nor middle

Easier answer would be kicking through the end zone ball is placed on the 40. if it is downed or lands in the end zone it is put on the 20. That would force teams to play the ball

I don't understand.why didn't you a board to show.as a person who's never watched a XFL game,my understanding is 18 guys line up at the forty,is it the forty on the kicking side or the receiving side.also sounds like no touch back,has to be in play from the goal line to the twenty.now what about on side kicks.hope they'll explain it

😂 Crybaby football. These little tiny ones wouldn't last 3 min in the games I grew up watching. Just change the NFL to touch and let the ladies play with the rest of the girls. The cheerleaders could probably play with less crying and complaining.

I have been watching less and less NFL over the past several years. This will drop it to zero. The game looks very little like the one I grew up watching. I will watch highlights, and that's it. I am not committing three plus hours to see a few interesting plays, 90 minutes of commercials, and human interest stories about how all black people are victims. All this BS about "player safety" is taking the game closer and closer to flag football. Imagine MMA banning kicking and punching for "fighter safety."

Given that CBS is 'woke' central, I'm sure they love the new kickoff rules. These NFL kickoff rule changes sissify the league make the NFL the National Sissy League (NSL) and are a camel's nose under the tent, meaning more to come. Like no more tackles just pulling flags from opposing player carrying the ball (flag football like in grade school), no more heavy blocks at the line of scrimmage with players just standing up to get in the way but no touching. And finally, once all of that is in place, women have to be allowed to play all positions in NSL football to completely 'woke' the sport.

Every year the NFL takes away something about how the game of Football is played.The game is no longer the same and as entertaining to watch as it was when a lot of us grew up watching.Why dont they just change it to Flag Football and be done with it Thats whats its becomming anyway.These players are getting million upon millions to hardly do anything these days and its getting worse.When people stop watching and the NFL starts looseing money then Football will be played as it was meant to be played.

It sounds way better than what we have today. Currently unless there is a headwind, its a touchback(83% of kicks were touchbacks in 2023). At least the play means something again. I am shocked this wasn't a pre-season trial with adoption the following year. It will increase scoring because average field position will improve, but that's the league direction anyway. Also lots of fun play options on kickoffs.

Might as well remove the kickoff and just have each team start at the 35. Gone are the days of electric 99-yard-kickoff-return-for-TD-in-final-seconds-to-win-game. I'm all for player safety, and in that case the kickoff should just be totally abandoned and not waste everyone's time with... whatever this is.

This is not so much about player safety as it is the NFL protecting their pocket book$ from injury law suits etc

With the softening of the tackling, the emphasis will be on protecting the offensive side. I’m looking at numerous records being broken on that side of the ball and the game being literally almost unwatchable.
