Been saying that for the last 10 years. All these teams are being owned by mega wealthy owners and companies or trusts. They can all fund their own dam^ buildings.
the reason why the teams get public funding is because the teams aren’t the only ones benefiting from the stadiums. A new state of the art stadium brings in tons of money for the cities and boost the local economy in a big way. not to mention a fancy new stadium pretty much guarantees the city will host a super bowl, which is the holy grail of tourism in america. Owners should definitely be picking up most of the tab, but i see no reason why the cities can’t pitch in a little since they’re gonna be reaping the benefits.
@@reptonplaya It is, but I can tell that aesthetically the outside will get dated quickly. Its been open 8 years now and I still think it looks sort of too angular
No issue with new Highmark not having a roof. The main reason those intense snow games get postponed is due to the hazardous travel conditions, not the playing surface. Putting a dome up wouldn't change anything.
I'm glad they added a little shield up there so less wind can come into the bowl and just go over it. And a great additions of those heaters as well. Still have the home field advantage of the open arena while the fans can be more comfortable lol even if only a little bit more.
I agree football in a dome is isn’t too bad I’m from Syracuse I would definitely love for Syracuse to have an outdoor football stadium I do like the dome not a huge fan of baseball in a dome at all I have a feeling the new rfk stadium will have a dome or retractable roof I would love a new rfk stadium I think we will see one in another 5 five years & fedex field will be a concrete slab in 10 years
Mile High Stadium is now 25 years old, and there is new ownership. One thing about Mile High is that they built it with the possibility of having a roof installed later. But like Buffalo, Denver likes having weather influence the game - and promote the ski industry.
The obvious reason for all of this is finally becoming transparent. Special events! Nissan Stadium, Browns Stadium, Arrowhead, the dome in St. Louis (and more) were totally fine; or could have been renovated for $300m or less. However, the old model for stadiums became obsolete once So-Fi was built. The new model is week-long special events and that requires a dome, plus development around the stadium.
3:37 while Nissan Stadium gets demolished, The Tennessee Titans should play at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee when the new Nashville Stadium reopens in 2028
funny, the rendering shown for arrowhead is actually the original drawing for the initial plan for arrowhead and Kauffmann. the entire complex was to have a moving roof on a track that could be either placed over arrowhead or kauffmann depending on who was playing. never got built because it was beyond budget. pretty interesting
That Jets stadium was voted on by the NFL owners to host Super Bowl XLIV (which ended up being the one the Saints won). The vote was of course conditional that they build that stadium. After a couple of years and nothing started, they NFL threw in the towel and relocated the game. Instead of a revote, the owners to just give it the second place finsher. And that's how Miami got to host just three years after the previous host. In fact, giving them XLIV may have happened before XLI was played. As we all know, the NFL ended up voting to give NY Super Bowl XLVIII. Despite it being outside in cold weather. I guess the NFL was really disappointed in not having a NY Super Bowl that they removed the indoor requirement at least that one time.
And yet the corrupt cherry-picking NFL will NEVER waive the "indoor/domed stadium requirement" for a northern city to host a Super Bowl other than preferentially-treated NYC ... despite the FACT that Buffalo is the ONLY team from NY and is building a new stadium !!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the Jets and Giants are really from New Jersey).
The huge difference between Cleveland desperate to replace their stadium and Pittsburgh being happy to keep their old stadium is that Pittsburgh isn't on a Great Lake...the lake effect snow and wind conditions is something Pittsburgh doesnt have to deal with. The annoyance of normal midwest winter conditions is clicked up a thousand percent along the lakefront of Lake Erie (or Michigan)... i was raised in Canton, Ohio, where we got the lower part of the lake effect blizzards...a dozen miles south of us got a foot of snow, Akron/Canton got 2-4 feet, Cleveland got 5-8 feet along the lake. It's a real thing and compounds teams like Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, and Green Bay...with the teams on the east end of the lakes much worse off than those on the west side of the Lakes. But the Lakes create their own issues no other teams have to deal with. It can take hours to get the snowfall that elsewhere takes days to achieve in the midwest/mideast.
Lake effect snow is crazy specific. My buddy took a picture of the parking g lot at his warehouse (maybe 200 yards long). One side: A dusting to maybe an inch. Other side: Couldn't even tell who's car was who's after being sunny 8 hours earlier lol.
Damn real..DUUUVALL!!..But dude made it sound like the city doesn't supprt the deal..They don't check things out before they make these videos..He doesn't know its pretty much a done deal..The tentative agreement will come out next month amd City Council has been apart of the deal from the start..
@@MrTimothy87 Deal is pretty much done. It should go official either around the draft or early may. They're already doing the surveys to locate all the water, sewage, and electrical lines under the stadium.
I love MetLife Stadium, and I'll love it even more when it gets grass, but I'd love to see them move into the city. Growing up, I had to travel to Jersey the day before the game and spend the night there to get to a Jets day game. It would've been so much more ideal to simply be able to take a bus to a game. I hope we get it done. It'll give an unprecedented boost to the team's revenue.
They will not move due to there would be no tailgating at the a stadium in NYC. They still can add things to Metlife on the outside to get rid of that horrible AC unit look and build other stuff outside.
@@wyldebill4178 They're supposed to host the World Cup final, you must have grass to host any world cup game. Even Mercedes Benz is putting in Grass for the world cup.
Out here near Arlington heights would be very convenient travel wise if you coming from city. You have the interstate and metra train station within walking distance of potential stadium.
As a Browns fan, when i was younger, i didn't care about the elements. I went to a couple of Browns games when i was a kid in blizzard-like conditions coming off of Lake Erie. Nowadays, considering how much money you gotta spend to attend a sporting event, my primary concern is BEING COMFORTABLE!! That being said, it's high time the Browns and the city of Cleveland(or Brook Park) build either a fixed-roof or domed stadium. If you're gonna spend upwards to $2 billion dollars for a new home, might as well do it right!!!
Paycor Stadium is currently undergoing some minor renovations, which are mostly seating and access upgrades. The lease expires in 2026, and it's unlikely a new stadium is built at that time. Major bridge construction has started right next to the stadium, leaving little available space to build.
This guy said the Soldier Field renovation of the "early 2000's" was over a billion dollars. That's not accurate at all. The final cost was $632 million.
15:13 the Jets Manhattan stadium was not proposed in 2007, it was proposed way earlier than that because guess what dummy, Public position caused the stadium to be canceled in 2005 and the vote to host the Olympics was held in July 2007 in which they finished fourth, beating only Moscow.
The heating system is only in place to protect the playing surface. It can be used sort of like a heater, but youre not looking at ridiculous ice age weather.
If you look at the new Nissan stadium it’s very similar to the mls Nashville SC stadium Geodis Park. I like the closeness in design, I’m not a Tennessee person but it’s nice that the sports teams share colors and style.
Exploring the future of NFL stadiums is quite an adventure! It's fascinating to see how design, technology, and fan experiences are evolving. The next decade promises some amazing developments, from eco-friendly initiatives to cutting-edge technology that enhances the game-day experience. It's a testament to how sports can bring us together, pushing the boundaries of innovation while creating spaces where fans can share unforgettable moments. Here's to the future stadiums that will not only host thrilling games but also become landmarks of their communities!
that airplane hangar looking rendering over Arrowhead looks cool as it’s possibly iconic enough with the unique shape and crowd noise for it to be a historic building like Lanbeau or Wrigley and Fenway in baseball that they stay in it for over 70+ years if it’s possible to make it climate controlled and with the Royals moving they’ll have plenty of space as that’s a sea of parking around it
Anyone notice that there are not a lot of domed stadiums in the north? Seattle, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Buffalo, NYC, and New England all play open air.
Dude your videos always ALWAYS Gets a Thumbs Up and shared from me. Love your channel and all that you do for obsessed fans of Stadiums like myself lol. Keep up the hard work. We appreciate all that you do. A+++++
The Jets and Giants are 50/50 owners in MetLife stadium. Both teams have the same ability to opt out, but if one team chooses to opt out, it locks the other team into remaining in the stadium for the rest of the lease. As others have mentioned, the site the Jets contemplated in the 2000's had no space for parking/tailgating, and has been partially developed and turned into Hudson Yards. There isn't the space there for a modern football stadium anymore, much less what was originally envisioned 20 years ago. And I have no clue where else they could go.
Well maybe the Jets and Giants could move out on Long Island, or north of the city -- at least that way they'd once again be New YORK teams (instead of New JERSEY teams). Or, perhaps will all the urban flight from NYC, more real estate will become abandoned and bulldozed sites could be transformed into space for a new Manhattan stadium.
@@wingedbuffalo4670The Jets should build the stadium next to the Nassau Coliseum with expanded parking lot and with the translucent roof and the Giants can build it in either Westchester or Rockland county and as for the Meadowlands the stadium would be replaced with offices retail and residential housing for all
Buffalo had to relocate 1 game due to snow in recent history and delay 1 playoff game. A dome would not fix this issue, the decisions are made because of impossible travel conditions
One extra tidbit on Arrowhead Stadium: the concrete and rebar it was built out of were only rated to last 50 years, so it's quickly reaching its endpoint. At the very least, every piece of concrete will have to be replaced.
"IF" that's true about a 50 year concrete and rebar rating at Arrowhead Stadium, it's ALREADY past its replacement time (I believe Arrowhead opened for the 1972 season). The Chiefs better hope a catastrophic building collapse doesn't occur while fans are in attendance and the stadium is shaking ... or I can imagine a MASSIVE class-action lawsit by injured fans (and the estates of deceased fans) will soon follow. The Chiefs' combined payroll wouldn't be able to pay that judgment.
I'm surprised to not hear at all a Commanders relocation to Virginia Beach. The Metro population is over 1.7 million it could certainly support a franchise
Years ago as a Browns fan I was deadset against any dome. After 6-7 years of kinda THE worst weather imaginable, I am over it. Build the dome. The Brookpark location is honestly amazing, not a fan of the current location, it's impossible to get to .
I'm not a fan of Brookpark. There's nothing over there but the airport and factories. They'd have to build more than just a stadium to make it attractive.
Im surprised all NFL teams don't just go with a dome or at least a retractable roof. Not only does that give you the option to leave it open for the cities that like the elements, but it also eliminates having to postpone or cancel games due to lighting in the area and also gives them the ability to host a super bowl. I think it would be cool if the super bowl took turns being hosted in all 32 cities on a rotation instead of the same old warm city areas every year.
I'd like to see you do a video on possible NFL quality Stadiums being proposed to be built in cities without a team, in hopes of luring one? Salt Lake City, Oakland, San Antonio/Austin all come to mind.
Domes are better! Professional sports should not be canceled/postponed due to weather! They have too much money, slap a retractable roof on every mlb/Nfl stadium and call it a day!
The Super Bowl in Met Life was a disaster everyone left half way though the game because it was so cold. I get the sentiment but indoors is the way the NFL is going, they might still be a few outdoor Super Bowls when it goes back to Hard Rock in Miami.
THE TENNESSEE TITANS ONE OF THE BEST STADIUM DESIGN JACKSONVILLE STADIUM LOOKS LIKE SOFI STADIUM IN LA I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS STADIUM KC STADIUM NEEDS TO BE DOWNTOWN KC TO
Idk how I feel about that KC rendering. Looked kinda weird. Their already going to start renovations on arrowhead starting this year, 2024-2026 for the World Cup. With royals getting a new stadium there is a chance the chiefs get a sliding/retractable roof on like rails. That’s what the very first idea was for arrowhead way back before it was built. Arrowhead is the third oldest stadium in the NFL and it has never hosted a Super Bowl. The only way I see them hosting one is to have a retractable roof.
At least twelve people who attended the Kansas City vs. Miami playoff game on January 13, 2024, had to have fingers or toes amputated due to frostbite. No home field advantage is worth making your fans suffer through that. Putting a domed stadium in cold weather cities makes all the sense in the world.
Ive heard differently about Acrisure Stadium (Steelers), they do want a new stadium, but its still at the very beginning phases not even Phase 1...too many things outdated
Quick thing about the Bills and "It seems like one game a year is being postponed"... there are no hotels within walking distance of the site, so a roof would do _nothing_ to fix that. They would _prefer_ people in the stands but let's be honest, 2020 proved they don't need them completely... but still, seriously, you need at least both teams, the officials and at least one cameraman to make it to the stadium. So that's not a factor, and they had to figure out if there's anything that would be worth a roof otherwise. Not enough hotels for a Super Bowl, it's warm enough in April for WrestleMania (and you _know_ they're never getting anything bigger than a SummerSlam anyway), what else is there? And they're building the stadium as its own windbreak anyway, which, truth be told, was the most brutal part of that game in December I was at.
"Your not going to leave the stadium after just 20 years" Yet how many of these stadiums are only about 30 years old. Especially those built in the 90s which are among the more decrepit like Carolina and Jacksonville and other florida stadiums. Despite how old constructions last longer due to lacking modern advents, Seems that the life expectancy of a stadium is about 30 years. As for cold weather I think more northern teams should opt for overhangs over domes. You only really need to protect the stands from snow accumulation. The field can easily be cleaned with machines, but the stands are far more delicate and require more man power. Worrying about "hosting other events" should not be the concern. Cause not every city justifies having a superbowl hosting arena cause those "other events" dont come with as much frequency or size to justify an oversized domed stadium project.
As a fan of Washington, to add to the current situation. They might be changing their name again. But may have found a location. They plan on building at the RFK sight. The wizards and capitals are moving to VA and congress gave RFK rights to DC. So that seems to be the likely situation for Washington. It’s a lot of real estate, so they have room to build a huge complex.
Every NFL team who plays in a colder environment should be forced to have an outdoor stadium, even the Vikings. Southern teams can have roof if they want to
People complaining about New Highmark not having a Dome get over it, too bad, and stay home. Oh and even with a dome those games get cancelled anyway. I can't wait for this I never thought in a million years I'd see an actual new stadium.
The new titans stadium on the outside looks like a top golf. Steelers won't get a new stadium, there is nothing wrong with their current one. they aren't trying to get a Superbowl or anything like that. It'll probably end up getting a mild renovation within the next 5 or 10 years. I honestly don't see anything wrong with Cleveland's stadium either. They just had a pretty big renovation done to it 8 years ago and now they want a new stadium for what reason, to host 1 Superbowl? Seems like a complete waste of tax payers money.
As a Steelers fan we aren't getting a new stadium till 2035-2040. The current one is fine, and art Rooney said they aren't gonna get a new old for a while.
Because the Steelers owner isn't a scumbag. Its nothing but theft and using tax dollars to inflate their equity on the property. Now if it's paid all by the owner then different story.
The Brown’s needing a new stadium is ridiculous!!! And a dome is more ridiculous!!! Why does Tennessee need a dome??? Ridiculous again!!! These owners have the money to build their own stadium!!!
With the PSL prices and higher ticket prices, 62,000 is probably a spot on capacity. They are also adding around a 1,000 more standing room spots. I may go to a game once every 3 years. It’s easier and cheaper to sit at home. I’m no spring chicken any more. I’ll be 60 when this fortress is finished. I like being warm. LOL.
@@jamespayne5916 Sure if they think about money. I want football to be a sport for all fans. But hey I'm from Sweden so can only watch games thanks to NFL Game Pass lol. But I love huge full stadiums and Bills is my team over there.
Great content. Friendly suggestion; work with a voice coach. Your voice is so nasally, twangy, and loud, that it is annoying to listen to, especially over a long time frame. It's an easy fix, and would bring your delivery up to the same professional level as your research.
