I really don't like this narrative of "the Eagles won't finish in last place." WHY NOT? What evidence is there that they won't finish last? What's more likely - their superbowl run two years ago was their standard, or that the superbowl season was a fluke, and their ceiling is more like getting knocked out by the Bucs the year before?

The Raiders question is crazy. For one, all signs point to AOC being the starter and not GM. AOC is getting all first team reps and looks impressive. No reason to believe a mediocre guy like GM is going to unseat him. The rest of the offense is stacked. All the QB is going to have to do is protect the ball and trust his skill players. Second, the Raiders are about to have a top 5 to 10 defense. It's not necessarily going to come down to QB play.

I love the dynamic here so much. Bear with me but this analogy I think perfectly encapsulates rich and brockman's dynamic in these segments. Growing up I had two dogs, a cranky Chihuahua and an eternally optimistic Yorkshire terrier. The Chihuahua just wanted a reason to be pissed, the Yorkie wanted to play fetch 23 hours a day every day for his entire lifespan. Sometimes, in good spirit, maybe every one in ten billion throws id toss the toy in the vicinity of the Chihuahua, who immediately would look at the Yorkie and start growling, knowing that an invasion of personal space was next to come. And the Yorkie would stand there a few feet away barking in fear and frustration until you'd go grab the toy for him and throw it somewhere else. I always thought it was hilarious how the Chihuahua didn't have the mental acuity to be angry at me for throwing the toy, and missed out entirely on the complexity of who to be mad at, instead being pissed at the terrier. Rich knows that the entire structure of sports talk shows revolves around having someone to take the other point of view so there can be a discussion or perhaps an argument. He probably even has verbally explained this to brockman before as being part of his job. Surely they both have a total understanding of this arrangement, and yet when brockman does his job during this segment and plays the devil's absurd advocate for the sake of having some humorous conversations, rich sometimes acts completely offended and stunned by the things being said. This dynamic is just so hilarious to me.

Why are fans and media personnel fawning over a guy who's failed to live up to his all-guaranteed contract? The ONLY issue with Brokman saying Minshew would take the Raiders to the playoffs is that Minshew isn't QB1, AOC is. As AP has said, multiple times, "It's O'Connell''s to lose." He's been the QB1 so far in OTAs, and will be in camp. This is the 2nd time in a week you guys have gotten that wrong. Make a call & verify it.

I think the one thing pendents forget with the Tomlin talks and how he hasn't had much playoff success in recent years is that coach success isn't a zero-sum game. We don't judge players' success solely on their teams playoff success, but we do for coaches? Coaches should be judged on their ability to meet or exceed their expectations each year, have they built a good team culture of winning. Case and point: everyone thought the Steelers were gonna have a losing record and be last in the AFCN last year, and yet Tomlin helped that heavily lacking offensive team to a playoff wildcard game. He gets the most out of his players every year! That makes a good coach, the biggest issue with Pittsburgh is the general talent level of their roster, which is almost completely out of his hands, that's on the GM. If anything, the Steelers FO should be looking for a new GM because they haven't done a great job with that offense...

Hah! I'm willing to guess Brockman took his "half of Rich's teams will miss the playoffs" idea from the comments from last weeks Rich's waaaaay to early (and totally crazy I might add) top 10. One of the other guys in the comments said "Bold Prediction! Half of these teams miss the playoffs". I agreed, it's totally plausible considering Rich's unreasonable list.

None of the Bears WR will have 10 TD next year because none of them have ever done it. Tank Dell and Nico Collins had one fewer TD catch than Allen and Moore last year while on the same team and playing in fewer games. Add in Diggs, a guy who’s matched or exceeded Allen and Moore’a career high TD catches in 6 of his last 7 seasons, and the Bears being #1 sounds like a joke

The Giants going 11-6 is a wild take lol. The only way this happens is if Daniel Jones plays at an elite level Nabers ends up being the top receiver from the draft and is elite in his rookie year and the Giants end up with a top 10 defense.

it's always easy to say, "it almost never happens" as your argument for why something won't happen, but that's a lazy way out. The reason it's a question is because it could happen. Use an argument like: this team has a better chance, or they won't stay healthy, etc. Stop saying it won't happen because it rarely happens. It still happens!
