I’ll never understand why the NFL doesn’t just extend the season. Don’t need to add more games, but just start earlier and finish later and give everyone 2-3 bye weeks. Superbowl in late Feb wouldn’t change much, and nobody’s going to not watch cause games are on labor day weekend.

Please. They dont leave the West coast pretty much from week 3-9 (their bye week). Besides the @packers and @bills the schedule is setup pretty easy. You all went to the superbowl and want a soft schedule? Rams came off a 5-12 year and played 5 teams coming off their bye week.

I don’t understand despite the chiefs winning seasons year after year why they always seem to have a weak schedule. You would think if there was a team that would have a hard schedule it would be the chiefs but no the niners schedule is way harder.

It’s also the “Rest/Fatigue” Factor from the travel a team has during the season and 9ers are always Top 5 in travel and rest/fatigue

Interesting how the Browns, Ravens and Steelers have respectively, the three hardest schedules in the league, yet the Bengals, in the same division, only have the 16th hardest. I get the impression that they make easier for some teams to reach the playoffs than others.

2nd year in a row Niners have the worst rest discrepancy in the league. 3rd year in a row Niners we play in Seattle on TNF. Take a look at the Eagles that have 0 teams coming off a bye. In fact, 23 of 32 teams play 0 or 1 team coming off a bye. Niners have 4!

The thing that irks me is the -22 day opponent rest differential and playing 4 very good teams coming off their byes. Two years in a row. Why isn’t KC playing 4 teams off a bye as well? Seems like the NFL is trying to handicap us because we’re too good (ie: punishing us for our hard work).

Here is my idea. First 8 games. No byes. Put 8 teams into Monday night slot and 8 teams into the Thursday slot for a month straight. Then match up bye weeks with other bye week teams. Sounds easy but I know logistics. Lol

Sure, he can get you there, but he will never win it. Here in Europe football players play 90 minutes twice per week running like crazy while in America football players play once and it is only 60 minutes where they play in defense or offense only. Also in our football top teams play even over 60 games in single season and after long season top players are going with national teams on world cup or continental cups so give me a break about by weeks, 7 days is quite enough for body recovering in 20 games season

Week 6-17 they cannot have missing players or they could miss the playoffs. I wouldn't consider the Bears more than a 7 or 8 win team but everyone else are playoff teams.

I think the NFL could play Wednesday nights. You would have those games in the middle of the season. They would be the cross conference East vs West like 49ers / Ravens. Instead of the bye week you'd have two Wednesday or Thursday night games that would give a 10 day rest on either side (skipping two Sundays) twice a year. As a fan you wouldn't notice so much because of Wednesday night game. It would be nice if they could go back to 16 games in that format (but there is no putting that genie back in the bottle). There would be more eyes on those games then if they played Sundays. The 17 game schedule seems like too much. The last two weeks being throw away games for much of the league.

It's spaced out to where it wouldn't be too much of an issue. It's a decent schedule, into how it's balanced. Heading into playoff time, you know the Niners are going to be primed and ready. 6 primetime games, all that spotlight is gonna give them a nice tan heading into the playoffs. 49ers will be battle tested, and its all going to benefit the league.

Historically speaking, we have the 3rd worst rest differential in NFL history this year and have a top if not the top strength of schedule. Pretty brutal year for niners. I'm not sure how you think it's spaced out. It's not really, it just all year long

@@falconfamily463 based on a differential, in practicality we are favored to win every game. So no matter how you want to slice it, the more meaningful and consistent, the better the talent will be when it matters. The schedule starts easy then graduates in difficulty then settles down toward the last 3 weeks. Detroit at home will be a good game for the Niners to get ready for the playoffs. If you generalize it with a differential, of course your outlook would seem opaque.

Across their entire schedule, you can calculate how much of a rest advantage or disadvantage they have against their opponents. Last year, it was a tough schedule because they had an overall rest disadvantage of 20 days across the season. This season, they'll have a disadvantage of 22 days on their opponents. So no, time doesn't equal out. That being said, no one will feel sorry for the Niners, and they certainly aren't going to be making excuses.

I think the 49ers might struggle. They’re going to have a lot of internal strife due to salary negotiations and it doesn’t bode well for them. But I think the Eagles bounce back - Barkley really gives them a weapon - and the Lions should be up there. Lions-Eagles is my early NFC Championship prediction with the Lions finally getting to the Super Bowl! (The other team that might be good: the Packers. If Jordan Love continues to improve watch out.)

I think I actually disagree about the contract stuff. They have a lot of players on contract years so they’ll have a lot to play for, and I’d say aiyuks negotiation seems much less dramatic than deebo and bosas were, although it is still early. I agree the eagles will bounce back. New coordinators I think is the biggest difference.

That's why it's a 53+ man team. I'm Niner's fan just adds some more fuel to the 🔥. We knew who we'd be playing so added to skills positions and special team specialists. We still have the superstars, just had to tidy up some areas on the roster. Only thing that stinks is so many late games for me in UK to watch. Jam-packed with cowboys and 49ers both had 10 days rest after we went into OT with the Bills. Eagles played dolphins, cowboys, chiefs, bills, 49ers, cowboys, Seahawks all in a row.

It’s total bs and one more piece of proof that the NFL has an agenda. It’s not scripted but it’s heavily biased in scheduling and “bad” reffing. Every team should have the same bye week and none of this rest advantage shit. Home field and away, I think that’s just part of the game and competition, but rest and prep advantage is real and the stats show it. I joist think it needs to be more quotable if you truest want fairness. Short week football needs to end to. Quality over quantity. Injury rate is only one metric. Yes, let’s get good games, fair games.
